Nova Barrett★★★

Walking into the reception of Arkland Asylum, I looked towards the front desk, my eyes meeting a pair of bright hazel eyes and a hand beckoning me over to them.
 
Changing my direction I walked towards the red head whose dentition was on full display.

"Guess what?" My over hyperactive best friend asked when I reached her.

"Good morning to you too girlfriend" she paused to playfully glare then the smiled came back up

"Guess what?" She asked again

"I look like a zombie?"

Her eyes did a full tour of my body giving me a once over.

"Girl, you look worse than a zombie"

"Gee, thanks" I eyed her

Letting out a light chuckle, she passed a cup of coffee to me, my cup of coffee loaded with excess milk just how I like it.

Grabbing the plastic cup from her I took a sip, letting the sweet liquid run down my throat, taking a moment to relish the amazing taste.

I could feel the excitement from my taste buds and my body couldn't disagree not until I felt a slap on my arm.

My eyes opened looking for the culprit that interrupted my moment of bliss.

"You still haven't guessed!" The culprit, Zoey said

"I ran out of guesses a long time ago, thought you figured that out" I took another sip of my coffee.

"You're no fun" she said giving me another light slap on my arm

"I'm currently having fun " I told her looking at my coffee and back at her trying to get the point across.

"So what's up?" I asked

The excitement on her face from earlier came back

"We have a new patient" she announced

I blinked at her, waiting for her to continue but she said nothing else.

"We get new patients every day Zoey" I pointed that simple fact to her

"Yh, but not this kind of patient" she said and yet again leaving me dumbfounded

"So who do we have?" I questioned

"Xavier Gonzalez"

What???

The sound of the coffee cup hitting the floor made me realized I just spilled my coffee.

Snapping back to reality I turned to Zoey
"You mean the Xavier Gonzalez" I asked for clarification

"The mafia leader who's a renowned psychopath. Yes, that Xavier Gonzalez"

"See you on Friday Doc" Colton said as he got up from the chair and began making his way to the door.

I gave a polite smile as I closed my last file for the day

Bringing a hand to my head I gently massaged my temple. I could feel a migraine coming up.

Taking my water can from my bag I took huge gulp, allowing the cold liquid to melt my insides that were burning.

There was a knock on my door

"Come in"

The door opened revealing a tall dark skinned man in a well tailored suit.

"Sir," I greeted as I stood up straightening my outfit

"Good day Nova" he greeted as he walked towards my desk.

He unbuttoned his suit as he sat down leaving me to sit after him.

"I believe you've heard of the new patient our facility will be having?" He asked

For the two years I've worked with Mr. Williams I've known him to be straight forward. He doesn't fancy beating around the bush.

"Yes Sir"

After Zoey told me about the new patient it's been on every ones lips.

I didn't know where this conversation with Mr. Williams was going but it didn't look promising.

"I want you to be Xavier Gonzalez psychiatrist"

There and then I almost choked on my saliva

"Sir??" I asked

I was hoping he would say something else

But I was wrong

"You're one of our most hardworking and qualified doctors and I personally think you're most suitable to handle this.

"Consider this like a promotion. You'll be transferred into a more suitable office too and you're schedule will be cleared to accomodated Xavier" he explained

"But I love this office" I practically whined

Mr. Williams just smiled at me "Trust me you'll love the new office more"

"Lest I forget you be getting a raise" he added

Well at least something good was coming out of this

"Is there anything I need to know about this patient before he arrives?" I asked

"The file will be on your desk before the close of tomorrow and if there's any other information after that I'll let you know" Mr. Williams said

"That will be all for now"

Mr. Williams stood as he buttoned up and and walked out while I was left to ponder on the dramatic turn my life was about to take.
