Chapter 5
3 months later...
"Hey bro!" Bryce daps Garrett up in the entry way of sway, bringing him into a hug.
Garrett nods his head sending the boy a tight smile back, but Bryce was too drunk to notice.
"Have you decided on when you were going to move back in?" Bryce questions as he hands him a beer.
"Not yet man." Garrett shrugs.
"Oh come on, it's so weird not having you here." Bryce whines.
"Leave him alone." Addison walks towards the two and playfully smacks Bryce on the chest. She turns towards Garrett and her smile turns into a sad one.
Sad because Garrett was the big brother she never had and always wished for and he had no clue who she was. Because every time she broke down crying all she wanted was her brother but she knew she couldn't call him. He didn't know her. To him she was just a stranger.
"Hey Garrett." She softly says.
"Addison." He stiffly nods towards her.
Bryce notices the tension and pats him on the back. "Well I think you know where everything is, everyone's in the back."
Garrett nods and walks away with out another word.
"He's so different." Addison frowns as they watch his tense back walk away.
"It's okay." He tries to comfort her.
"He hasn't spoken to Dixie in three months, or charli, or Mads, or ness,or me." She croaks out. "He doesn't care about us anymore."
"He doesn't remember you guys." He tries to make her feel better though it doesn't help.

Garrett walks towards a cooler and immediately grabs another beer. Having chugged his first one.
"Garrett?" A voice calls out to him.
Turning around he notices an unfamiliar girl.
"You don't remember, right." The girl whispers under her breath. "I'm Madison, everyone calls me Mads."
"Hello Madison." He says with a small smile.
Her happy facade falls and she stares at him with broken eyes. "Madison." She whispers. "I know you don't remember me but you were like my big brother... every time Jaden and I got into a fight you'd take me out for some fast food and to target for snacks and then drive me home. And I don't know why I'm telling you this but these last couple of months have just been... hard with out you.." She whispers.
"Mads!" Jaden jogs up to the pair. "Come on leave the guy alone." He tries to laugh it off.
"Stop Jaden." She argues.
"No seriously come on." He sends her a look. He knew she had been struggling much like the other girls for the past three months but they all knew better than to pester Garrett about the past.
"No! He was my friend! If I want to talk to him I will!" She shouts.
Garrett looks around awkwardly feeling bad that he was the cause of a fight. "I can go..." he suggests.
"No I'll go." Mads spats at Jaden. "Because apparently only the boys are allowed to have you in their life."
She stomps away and Jaden lets out a heavy sigh. "Wanna smoke?"
"Yeah." Garrett nods with a small smile.
As they're smoking a raven haired girl walks out from the house and Jaden frowns. Looking where the boy was looking Garretts lips purse into a tight line.
Dixie was holding hands with Noah Beck and had a tight smile on her face.
Noah beck... he had heard about the man trying to join sway but as soon as the boys had found out he was pursuing Dixie they completely shut the idea down.
"Are they..." Garrett voices the silent question.
"I don't know bro." Jaden honestly replies. They were all pissed when they heard that Noah had feelings for Dixie.
Garrett's fists unconsciously clench and he chugs the rest of his drink.
"Well let's have some fun." He sends the boy a fake smile.
He walks away crossed, he was high out of his mind and over the moon drunk as he stumbled into the bathroom, shutting the door.
He leans his arms on the sink counter breathing heavily. "God damn it." He hisses as he feels a major migraine coming on.
After a few minutes he stands straight up and leaves the room, bumping into someone on his way out.
"You good man?" Josh questions with concern, glancing at nessa who had the same expression.
"I'm fine, I'm gonna head home." He says avoiding their eyes.
"What you can't you're drunk and high out of your mind!" Nessa quickly argues.
"I'll be fine." He brushes her off.
Nessa automatically shrinks back into her shy shell, she was always so comfortable with Garrett. He never judged her nor brushed her off, so it was a smack in the face when he did.
"No you wont, stop!" Josh shouts after the boy that rushed out of the house.
"Garrett!" Josh yells as he runs out the door, following his trail.
Garrett fumbles with his keys drunkenly as he tries to unlock his door.
By now everyone was watching the commotion out front.
"What's going on?" Griffin questions confused as he tries to calm Josh down.
"He's trying to get into the fucking car!" Josh screams in a burst of anger. Because he, along with all of the other boys, were so scared of what was going to happen after everything they had been through.
"Shut up Josh." Garrett grunts out. Kicking his door when he can't get the keys in.
"Jaden do something!" Mads hisses towards the boy as she bites her nails with a frown.
Jaden takes a step forward. "Dude just spend the night here in your room. You can leave in the morning."
"Fuck off Jaden." Garrett says in a sing song voice.
Josh tries to grab the boys keys but he gets shoved back by Garrett.
"You're going to get yourself killed!" Josh yells.
"What's your point here Josh?!" Garrett finally faces the boy, throwing his hands in the air frustratedly.
"Dude come on." Bryce stresses as he tries to keep people from pulling their phones out.
"Why do you all care so fucking much!" Garrett yells.
"Because we all care about you dumb ass, we almost lost you three months ago because we let you get into a fucking car when we shouldn't have." Griffin yells at him, not caring if social media got a hold of this. He wanted his friend alive.
"And now I have no memories!" Garrett shrugs his shoulder indifferently but he was ready to blow.
"Make new memories then! It's better than dying!" Jaden yells finally fed up.
"I feel like I'm suffocating!" Garrett's voice cracks. "I can't remember anything and every time I come around you all I get migraines and I want to die!"
"Why would you say that?" Addison cries, realizing that he truly had wanted nothing to do with all of them.
"Because every fucking time I see a video of her cuddling with him!" He shouts pointing towards Noah and Dixie. "I feel like my chest is going to collapse." He smacks his chest. "And every time I see you all, "he points at Nessa, Addison, charli, and Mads. "Crying, my stomach drops."
"Because I want to fucking kill him for the bruises on her wrist." He spats as tears come to his eyes as he points at Noah and Dixie.
Everyone's eyes go wide in confusion as they stare at the two, Dixie has tears rapidly falling from her cheeks. "And I can't remember why I feel this way or why I care and it hurts so fucking bad to feel this constant pain and not know why."
Everyone's quiet as the boy finishes.
"Take the fucking keys" he whips the keys at Josh. "I'm leaving."
Stomping away from the house he starts jogging down the empty street.
"Garrett! Garrett stop!" Dixie runs after him.
Garrett ignores her and continues to run until she eventually catches up with him and shoves his chest to stop him.
They both stand silently with dixies hands resting on his chest.
Slowly grabbing her right hand he places it over his heart and lays his forehead on her own. "My mind doesn't remember you but it feels like my heart does. Why does this hurt so much? Seeing you with him."
"It hurts me too." She whispers with tears flowing down her cheeks. "Come back to me." She pleads.
Instead of answering her he grabs her arm and lifts her wrist into the street light view and she immediately tries to pull away but he keeps a firm hold on her. "Why would you let him do this to you?" He looks at her with such intensity that it makes her lip tremble in shame.
"I- I just want to forget. I wish I could forget like you. Because it feels like you really did die. And its all my fault." She cries.
Garrett brings her into a much needed hug and shakily sighs. "I miss you so much." She sobs.
Garrett doesn't say anything, only soothingly running his hand through her hair like he use to.
After a few moments of silence his hand suddenly falls limp. She backs out of his embrace thinking the moment was over but gasps as she notices his whole face had become pale.
"Garrett?!" She cries out. "What's happening?"
"Shh." He whispers with a lazy smile.
He leans his face forward and plants his lips onto hers, bringing her into a harsh yet passionate kiss.
"Never forget that I love you baby." He whispers onto her lips making her back away in disbelief.
"You remember?" She smiles widely, momentarily forgetting his current state.
Sweat starts to bead on his forehead. "I could never forget you forever baby."
His knees buckle in less than a second and he falls to his knees and barely catches himself with his palms.
"Help! Somebody help!" Dixie screeches and falls to the ground with him. "Stay with me baby! Okay! Please don't leave me again. I need you. " She pleads.
He begins coughing roughly and gasping for air.
"Help!" She yells once again.
The boys and their girlfriends all run into the street and gasp in worry.
"Call an ambulance!" Josh yells towards Nessa who stands in shock. "Call an ambulance now!"
"Garrett! Hey man you're going to be fine." Jaden tries assure the man and slaps his cheeks lightly, trying to get him to keep his eyes open.
"His pulse is dropping!" Griffin yells.
"Gar please!" Dixie sobs. "Please don't leave me again."
Sirens pull up the house and paramedics rush towards the scene. "Step away!" They yell, Jaden drags Dixie away from the body.
"What if he doesn't make it this time?" Addison turns towards Bryce with tear-filled eyes.
Bryce doesn't answer as he stares at the ground. What if he didn't make it? All of the girls would be heartbroken, Dixie would probably be broken forever. And the boys? They wouldn't know what they would do. How do you continue to live the life of an influencer with out the man you started it all with?
"He'll be fine." Josh whispers. "He has to be."
