One Year Earlier
I knew when I first saw her that she would be the push everyone needed. Lillian Johnson, with a face of pure innocence, registered at Post Dale College for freshman year. It was her way of escaping life back home in Habro; where she felt it never gave her the opportunity to sprout. If you were to ask one of her classmate about, Lillian Johnson, you won't get the delicate way her dark brown hair falls around a circular face. The caramelized color her light brown eyes go if hitting the sun just right. Her lips were set in a natural pout under a nun of a nose. No, she was invisible and I was the exact opposite.
It was the start of the fall semester where students start to move back into the dorms. The first day of classes start tomorrow and already the pressure is upon you. Lillian step hesitantly out her car spotting the freshman table where she would receive her dorm keys. Giddy students and relieved parents littered the campus around her; instantly regretting the decision on not letting her parents accompany her. She close her eyes briefly taking in a deep breath to gain control of herself. This is why she wanted to come alone, she needs to start doing things herself. So, she open her eyes with a new confidence and slowly made her way to the check in table.
"Hello, Sweetheart, welcome to P.D.C," the lovely lady greeted Lillian at the table, "just give me your name and I'll get you your welcome package."
"Hi, Lillian Johnson."
"Just give me a few seconds..." the lady mumbles as she flips through a pile of folders, "here your are. The freshman dorms are the building right across the street from us and you'll find everything you need in here."
Lillian kindly took the folder with a smile, "Great, thank you."
It was easy making her way back towards her car with the distraction of the folder. She found her dorm keys with an extra copy of her schedule and other informative papers. Lillian was in tune to the dismantling of the folder she didn't notice the man in front of her. He spot her immediately assuming that the world was playing a trick on him. The familiarity of her long brown hair and eyes brought back those hidden memories. In a quick decision he barely slip out of her path.
"Excuse me," Lillian squeak, before shuffling away quickly towards her car.
The man watch after her with a tilt of his head, thinking the world is still playing tricks with him.
Lillian punch the buttons on her keys to open the trunk of her car. She's quick to unload her two suitcases and carry on onto the ground. In a few hours, the cafeteria would be serving lunch and her plans were to have everything unpack before then. So, with a click of her button she made sure her car was lock before making her way to the dorms. Post Dale campus was decent in length, not to big, but not to small, satisfying Lillian completely.
"Thank you," she smiles meekly, to the young man who hold the door graciously for her upon arriving to the dorms.
Lillian's eyes scan the familiar lounge station on the first floor. Furnished with cute looking red and black chairs, the school colors, coffee table, and a huge screen tv. She thought it was comfortable looking. Lillian turn slipping into the elevator with a family of four; mother, father, and two daughters. The family only smile at Lillian in acknowledgment before continuing their previous conversation. Not even a tab bit offended by the family ignorance, she waits patiently to arrive on her floor. Her eyes never leaving the dotted red numbers as they climb slowly to three.
*Ding*
Lillian step out the elevator once the door slip open. She walk the hall until coming upon the dorm number 304. Her name was plastered on the door with her roommate Mia. A extrovert blue hair girl who's the total opposite of the introverted Lillian. An interesting pair that would be.
The door suddenly open to reveal the blue hair brown eyed Mia, "Oh, Hello. You must be Lillian?"
"That's me," Lillian nod with a smile, " I was just about to come in."
"Yes, of course," Mia huffs stepping out the doorway, "I was just on my way to lunch, but I wouldn't mind waiting for company."
Lillian look over to her as she walk over to the empty bed. The one word she'll use to describe Mia on first impression is expressive. She already had her side of the room decorated with posters and photos on her wall, and a scheme of blue and purple.
"Actually.." Lillian pause throwing her bags on the bed; before turning to face her new roommate, "let's go now. I have plenty of time to unpack later.
"Are you sure?"
Lillian nod wanting to get to know her roommate before she unpacks. If it turns out she doesn't like the girl it'll be one easy getaway.
"Yeah, let's go."
