Kakashi's POV
I stayed with Natalie on the couch. I could feel her breathing even out signaling she was sleeping. I brought her into her room and brought the covers over her. "Night Natalie." I whispered placing a kiss on her forehead. I returned to my own bedroom and got into pajama pants and slipped underneath my covers. I soon drifted to sleep, but woke up to screaming. I ran out of my room and into Natalie's. She was jerking violently, she let out another scream. I sat down next to her and grabbed her hands. "Natalie." I said as I shook her gently. Her eyes shot open and looked around at her surroundings. She finally focused on me and wrapped her arms around my neck. I could hear her ragged breaths get slower, calmer. "I can't...I can't lose you Kakashi." She said quietly. She buried her face in the crook of my neck. I hugged her tightly. "Natalie you aren't going to lose me. I promise." I said trying to comfort her. "You are my daughter, I would never let anyone hurt you." She nodded slowly and laid back down. "Can you stay here until I fall back asleep?" She asked. I nodded and watched as she turned away from me. 

Natalie's POV
I turned away from his gaze and tried to steady my breathing. I felt so much safer when he was with me. When he said that he wouldn't let anything hurt me. So many take that small detail for granted. I don't, I'm so grateful that he took me in, he calls me his daughter, he protects me. That has been the one thing I've wanted for my whole life. I finally let myself drift to sleep. I woke up to sun shining through my window. I turned around and found Kakashi sitting in my chair asleep. "Kakashi wake up." I said placing a hand on his shoulder. He stirred away and looked around. "Guess I fell asleep." He mumbled. "No really?"I said sarcastically. He stood up and hugged me out of no where. "Anymore nightmares?" He asked as he walked out the door. "Nope." I answered closing the door behind him. I changed into my daily training outfit(It's like  Ino's just teal) and stepped in front of the mirror. I brushed my long silver hair and put it into a ponytail. I walked out of my room and grabbed an apple. "We doing the bell exercise today?" I asked taking a bite. I could hear Kakashi chuckle. "Yes and I told them not to eat. So now maybe they'll actually work together. Or maybe they'll be like the rest." He said. I rolled my eyes. "You know Natalie you turn thirteen tomorrow." Kakashi said balancing his kunai on the tip of his finger. I smiled to myself and remembered that it would be me and Shikamaru's one year. "Yeah I know, but I don't want you making a big fuss out of it and is it okay if I introduce you to a friend later today?" I asked. I mean now would be the perfect time. "Sure just bring them over after training today." He said grabbing a book from his shelf. I walked out of the apartment and ran out to where the others were. "Hey Natalie are you okay?" Naruto asked scratching the back of his neck. "Yeah I'm fine. You guys ready for training?" I asked smiling. "Believe it! But I am hungry." He said clutching his growling stomach. "When are you not." I said chuckling. "Where is Kakashi, he should've been here by now." I said looking for him. "Hn." Sasuke muttered. "Huh. I thought Kakashi was your dad." Naruto said. "He adopted her you insensitive jerk." Sasuke said through clenched teeth. "Yeah Naruto don't be so clueless." Sakura said following Sasuke's lead like a lost puppy. "Hey he didn't know, it isn't his fault." I said giving Sasuke and Sakura a disapproving look as Naruto shrunk back. "Hello children." Kakashi greeted. "Where have you been?" Sakura asked angrily. "Well I got lost on the path of life." Kakashi said with a famous eye smile. I rolled my eyes as I leaned against the railing on the bridge. We walked to where me and Kakashi trained when he had time. "Today we'll be doing a survival test. I have bells that you have to try and get from me." Kakashi explained as I leaned against a tree. "Why isn't Natalie participating? And why is there only two bells?" Sakura asked crossing her arms over her chest. "Natalie has the skill level of a chunin unlike you genin. And as for the two bells well one of you will return to the academy. So come at me with the intent to kill." Kakashi explained. He threw a bell to me and I grabbed it and smirked as Naruto's eyes widened. "WHAT?! NATALIE IS A TARGET?!" Naruto screamed. I rolled my eyes and sighed. "No, but I will be helping him." I said throwing the bell back to Kakashi. "Making sure none of you cheat and to make sure none of you get injured." I explained. Sasuke gazed over at me and I lifted an eyebrow. He looked back at Kakashi and stared him down. I jumped up in a tree and zoned it out. I slipped on my ear piece in case Kakashi needed any help. I read a book until I felt someone's chakra near me. I looked over at Naruto and the lunches Kakashi had brought. I sighed and silently moved onto the rock that Naruto was leaning against. Kakashi appeared next to me seconds later. I sighed and jumped in front of him. "Didn't Kakashi say you don't eat until you earn a bell." I said in a bored tone. Naruto froze and looked at Kakashi. I watched as Kakashi tied him to a post and the others came back. "So much for getting a bell Sakura?" I asked with a smile. She groaned and pouted silently. "Okay I'll give you one more chance." Kakashi said. He started explaining it, but I walked away. I sat in a tree and sighed heavily, wishing for the training to be over. I looked over at Sakura feeding Naruto, me and him would have a laugh about it later. Sasuke looked bored, his eyes gazing at the tree I was in. "Hmm. If I didn't know any better I would think that Sasuke had a crush on you." I heard a familiar voice say. "Too bad that I already have someone better." I said with a small smile. Shikamaru sat in front of me and smiled. "I'm glad you think so." He whispered trying not to tip off Kakashi. "I was thinking you could meet my dad later today after I'm done with training. Maybe meet us at Ichiraku." I whispered looking at him. "I'd love to. I gotta head back to training." He said kissing my cheek quickly. My heart fluttered as he sped away. My gaze returned to Kakashi eye smiling at them. I jumped down from the tree and walked back over to them. "Glad to see that Naruto finally won at something." I said ruffling his hair. He blushed and I raised an eyebrow. He smiled brightly and put his arms behind his head. "Believe it!" He shouted. I laughed and Sakura smiled slightly. "I'll see you guys tomorrow and make sure to get lots of rest." Kakashi said walking away with me. I was nervous about Kakashi meeting Shikamaru, I mean how would he react. "Wanna head to Ichiraku for dinner?" I asked. "Sure." Kakashi said. Shikamaru was waiting outside looking at the setting sun. "Kakashi this is Shikamaru my boyfriend, Shikamaru this is my dad Kakashi." I said introducing them to each other. Shikamaru froze as Kakashi looked at him. "Kakashi is your dad?" Shikamaru asked taking to my side. I nodded and smiled innocently at him. "Boyfriend huh?" Kakashi asked eyeing Shikamaru. "Natalie how about you go and order me and you our food for take out." Kakashi said handing me money. I looked at Shikamaru worriedly and took the money from his hand and ordered our food to go. I walked out with our food and found Kakashi and Shikamaru laughing together. "Looks like you two get along great." I said smiling at them. "Yeah your dad isn't a total drag." He said. "I'll see you later Nat." Shikamaru came up and kissed my cheek. "See you later Shika." I replied blushing. "You threatened him didn't you?" I asked with a smile. "Yep." He said with a laugh. We walked home and he pulled down his mask to eat. "Why do you wear that mask?" I asked. "I would like to keep it hidden from other people because if I had to start a whole new life, it would be easy." He said taking a bite of his food. I nodded and finished my ramen quickly. I threw away my take out box and went into my room. I changed into tank top and short shorts and quickly brushed my teeth. "Good night Kakashi." I said to him. "Night Natalie." He said placing a kiss on my forehead. I locked my door and turned off my light. I slipped underneath my covers, but heard tapping on my window. I looked at it and saw Shikamaru waving at me. "What the hell?" I said to myself. I got up and opened my window. "What are you doing here?" I asked. "I couldn't sleep." He said simply. "Really. You couldn't sleep." I said crossing my arms over my chest. "Okay fine I wanted to give you this." He said. He pulled a gold locket out of his pocket and I looked at it with sparkling eyes. He stepped around me and helped put it around my neck. I opened it and it was a picture of me blushing while Shikamaru kissed my cheek. I smiled at it and felt tears brim my eyes. "Thank you Shika, I love it." I said hugging him tightly. He hugged back and I could feel tears run down my face. "Hey now don't cry." He whispered wiping away my tears. "I love you Shika." I said. "Love you too Nat. I should get out of here before your dad finds out." He said. He turned to leave, but I grabbed his wrist. I placed a kiss on his lips and smiled as he blushed madly. "Bye Nat." He said climbing out of my window.
