STEPHEN's POV

Freddy, one of our comrades dropped us around 200 meters away from our target. I looked around us. The street was already empty and quiet and it was to our advantage.

"I'll go on ahead. Make sure to follow the order and not do anything stupid" he said when we opened the door of the wrangler jeep to get out.

"Just get out of here quickly before someone notice you" Cyrus answered, obviously annoyed of Freddy's tone. He tsked and then drove off without saying anything.

"Are you sure about this information?" I asked Cyrus the moment we're left alone. He shrugged his shoulders.

"That's what the intelligence report that boss received that's why he wanted us to confirm about the authenticity of it. Remember not to do anything stupid. We're just here to confirm about our suspicion and get something useful from them" I gritted my teeth and didn't respond. My mind was already thinking of thousand ways to kill whoever in that building that would be on my way.

"I know what you're thinking, T, and I'm telling you not to do it. Remember that we're here for our mission not for your personal vendetta"

"I know what I'm doing, Cy. You don't have to remind me about it" I answered through gritted teeth.

"That's good then. C'mon, let's go and finish this quickly" We began walking towards the target but our senses we're alive and ready to any danger around us. When we reached the Harrison Avenue, our movements became extra careful and calculated.

We became like a shadows in the dark, making sure that no one would notice our presence in that area.

Then it began pouring. I heard Cyrus clucked his tongue.

"This is what I don't like during missions" he muttered in a controlled tone as we try to avoid any street lights and cameras around. We tried to move as precise and quiet as possible so that we wouldn't get lured to any possible trap that was awaiting us.

"This will be our advantage. It's more difficult for them to detect our presence here now that it's raining" I answered in a low voice. I could already see the building.

The Black Jackals' hidden headquarters was in there and it was our target. Badger, our boss, received an intel that the boss of the TBJ had been keeping some secrets from the government that's why they're suspicious about them now.

They wanted us to find any solid evidence but I knew to myself that I joined this mission because of another purpose.

Cyrus and I were planning to infiltrate TBJ a almost three months ago but we held back our plan because we didn't want Badger to know about our hidden mission against the TBJ.

But now that he was the one who gave the order for us to infiltrate their headquarters, I would use this as an opportunity to do my thing.

I signaled Cyrus to go on ahead of me so that in case that they already knew our presence, I could attack from the dark, behind him. I hid myself behind the big tree near the building. We chose to infiltrate it from the back instead of the front part.

So far, we didn't see any guard or person around the place.

Cyrus nodded his head and then proceeded with our plan. I was holding my breath the whole time as my grip on the gun that I was holding tightened.

A couple of seconds later and I heard his voice from the earphone that I was wearing. It was connected on the wireless communication device that we're using so that we could talk to each other while on mission.

"Everything's clear so far"

"Okay. I'm coming" Like a hawk in the dark, my movement we're swift and sure. When I arrived at Cyrus' spot, I saw him already preparing the devices that we need in order to climb up the building. He was about to attach it on the hard surface of the wall when I noticed something.

"Wait!"

"What?" he asked with an impatient tone.

"Isn't this a little bit too easy? Aren't you wondering why there aren't guard around?" I didn't know why but I felt like something was about to happen.

"I don't know but all I know is, we should take this as an opportunity to get inside because we can't get any evidence if we just stay outside" he whispered back. He began attaching the latest technology that we got from HGC, the company of our friend Hunter, in his hands.

We already wore the special shoes that should wear along with that hand device in order for us to successfully climb the building without using any climbing ropes or anything. We pulled up our tactical hoods to hide our faces.

The climbing devices that we're using were the latest inventions of the HGC, which is the company of our friend, Hunter. All the gadgets, devices and machines that we're using in our organization were produced by them secretly.

The government pays them large sum of money and promised them protection as well.

Later on, we quietly climbed the wall until we reached the rooftop.

"I think you should stay here and wait for me so that if something unforeseen event happens, you can get out of here and report to the boss" I instructed Cyrus but he shook his head.

"No. I'll go with you" he insisted. My forehead crinkled. This was the first time that he didn't agree to my instruction. Everytime we're on a mission, we usually go on our separate ways and meet somewhere after. But sometimes, one would go on ahead and the other follows behind to protect.

"Are you insane? That's dangerous for the both of us" I contradicted but he looked determined.

"I already told you that I wouldn't do anything stupid"

"Even so. Let's do this together. C'mon, let's go" Cyrus stepped towards the closed door without waiting for my answer. I mentally shook my head and then followed him. But instead of picking the lock of the door, we used an advanced laser to create a hole in the glass door, enough for us to reach the door handle inside and open it.

"I feel like someone is watching us" Cyrus uttered while looking around us.

"I feel the same. Stay alert. We can't abort the mission now because we're already here" I said to him. I knew that danger was coming when we used the laser and the alarm didn't blare off.

When we finally got inside, our defenses and the carefulness of our movements doubled. According to the tip that we received, no one stays inside the building during the night because everyone goes home but we can't afford to be laid back and careless.

"There are couple of rooms. I think we should split so that we could check every room quicker before they would detect us. If something happens, let's meet at the roof top" I instructed. Cyrus looked at me hesitantly as if he was debating inwardly whether he would follow my instruction or not.

"Go! This is not the time to doubt me" I hissed before I turned my back on him.

I slowly opened the first door that I saw while pointing my gun ahead of me. There was nothing there except a bed, a bedside table and a lamp. I checked every corner of that room including the ceiling but nothing suspicious was in there.

I carefully closed the door and then proceeded to the next door without making any sound. I thought someone was inside but I was wrong. I inspected inside. It looked like an office. I opened the drawers of the office table to see what's inside them but they were empty.

I cussed inwardly and decided to proceed to another room. I was about to open the door to get out of there when I noticed something at the corner of the room. It was a black jackal figurine around five inches.

It was out of place. I smirked triumphantly. I approached it and then tried to twist it counterclockwise.

"Bingo" I mumbled when the office table suddenly moved slowly to the side and then a passage way revealed on its original spot.

"I'm here at the second room on the right. I discovered something here. Continue searching but if you won't find anything, come here" I said to Cyrus through the small communication device that I was wearing.

"Copy" he answered.

I stealthily went inside the passage way on the floor. It was dark inside but when I reached the middle of the stairwell, the lights automatically turned on.

When I arrived at the bottom, I saw a rectangular vault at the center of the room. I smiled inwardly. So, the information that we received was right. I approached the vault and then began entering the code. When I heard a 'tick' sound, that was when I knew that I successfully opened it.

There were a couple of brown envelop inside. I took the first one and opened it just to have my eyebrows creased when I saw its content. My breath got trapped in my lungs as I read all what's written on each page. I gritted my teeth.

I put back the papers inside the envelope and was about to take the next envelope when I heard something moved behind me.

"Put your hands behind your head and then turn around" I was about to get my gun which I put on top of the vault when he I heard him warn me again.

"If I were you, I won't do it because you will be dead the moment you grab that gun. Do what I said and face me!" the beating of my heart remained calm. I followed what he said and then faced him.

I gritted my teeth when I got to see his face. I was right of my suspicion that he wasn't just an ordinary person the moment I first met him.

"Do you really think you could walk away from here alive after you managed to infiltrate this place? I already caught your spy and made him talk" he chuckled sarcastically while still pointing his gun at me.

"Remove your hood, now!" he said thunderously. I smirked. He looked so mad and ready to pounce me any moment now.

"Make me" I dared him and he gritted his teeth. I readied myself. A second later, he fired his gun at me but since I was already expecting it, I easily dodged it by throwing one of the envelopes that I was holding to him before he could pull the trigger and that made him lose his concentration and missed me. I quickly hid behind the big vault and grabbed my gun on the process.

He rained bullets to my direction but because of the vault, nothing of his bullets reached me.

"Damn you!" he roared but then his ammo ran out and it was my turn to retaliate. I peeked on his direction to get a better view of what he was doing and was about to fire back when he quickly ran towards the stairwell while reloading his gun.

I hurriedly went in front of the vault and then took the envelopes inside including the one that was on the floor. Then my eyes widened when I heard a noise. That's when I realized that the secret passage way was closing.

I hurriedly ran towards the staircase to get out of there. The entry was already half closed but I made it on time. Barely though.

The moment that I got out of the passage way, a gunshot echoed inside the room. Then I felt a searing pain on my arm. I was shot. I knew that he would shot me for the second time that's why I moved as quickly as possible and then kicked his hand that was holding the gun.

Thankfully, he was not that far from me. The gun flew away from him grip. He was about to pick it up but I swiftly attacked him with another kick. He groaned in pain as I managed to hit him in the stomach. He fell down.

I continued my attack. I sat on his stomach and then barraged him with punches. He could barely defend himself anymore so I decided to end it there.

I was about to punch him one more time with all that I've got when a familiar voice echoed in the four corners of that room.

"Ronin!" my body went still and looked at her direction to confirm my suspicion but Ronin used that as an opportunity to attack me back until he succeeded on getting up from under me. We continued fighting like two raging bulls until he gave me a kick and purposely hit my arm which was wounded and that made me lose my strength.

"Damn it!" I grunted and cupped my wound. Blood were continuously pooling out of it.

"Ivy, give me the gun!" Ronin hissed. I looked at the woman who was staring at me in shock. She was standing there with her lips open. I couldn't believe that I would really see her in this place.

I was already suspecting for her to be a member from the beginning but I didn't entertain that thought because I didn't have any proof. Besides, I couldn't picture her as part of TBJ which was being suspected now as a protector of a terrorist group Horeeya.

"What the hell are you waiting for, Ivy?! I said give me the gun!" she shook her head and she looked like she was about to cry. What's with that expression? She should already follow Ronin's order and kill me on the spot.

Ronin cursed out loud before he hurriedly picked his gun up from the floor, next to her.

"Ronin, wait---" she tried to stop him.

"---shut up, Ivy. You know that you don't have any say to this matter anymore" Ronin answered with a firm tone. But before he could get a grip of the gun, I used that as an opportunity to run towards the door. They must've thought that I already ran out of strength that's why they became careless. I heard gunshots from behind me, signifying that Ronin was chasing after me but I didn't look back.

"Where the f*ck are you, Cy?" I hissed upon contacting Cyrus but he wasn't responding. I groaned inwardly.

There were unconscious men that were scattered on the hallway. I turned to the right corner towards the staircase that would lead me to the rooftop and that's when I saw Cyrus.

He was just finished fighting two men and he already looked weak.

"Damn! I didn't expect for them to be this many. I thought---" his sentence was cut off by a gunshot followed by Ronin's voice.

"If I were you, I would give up now because you have nowhere to go!" I looked at Cyrus as we ran towards the rooftop together.

"Is everything ready?"

"Yes. I managed to give them the signal before I lost my communication device" I didn't answer and we just continued escaping.

When we reached the rooftop, that's when we heard the loud sound of the helicopter. They put down the rope ladder and we both held onto it.

"You can't escape from me!" we heard Ronin screamed when he reached the rooftop and saw us escaping but before he could even fire at us, Cyrus already fired bullets at him. He managed to hide behind the big water tank and that was when the helicopter started moving away from there as we climbed up the rope ladder.

"I thought the both of you were already dead" the pilot and one of our comrades said when we finally managed to climb up inside the helicopter.

"As you can see, we're still alive" I said and then muttered a curse when I felt the pain on my arm.

"You're bleeding" Cryus commented upon seeing my arm.

"I'm fine" I said and then looked outside while gritting my teeth. Until now, I still couldn't believe of what I saw earlier. She really was there. Now, I was more confused than ever and I didn't know what to do next.

Then I suddenly realized something. That Ronin told her something like "You know that you don't have any say to this matter anymore". What did he mean by that? Why did he call her Ivy?

I groaned inwardly in so much frustration and anger. I couldn't think rationally anymore and I all I wanted to do was to find answers to my questions.
