THREE DAYS LATER

I haven't seen Grayson for about three days now and I'm a little worried. He said the other day that when two mates find each other, all they want to do is protect each other.

He had implied we are mates.

But I haven't seen him since I showed him some of my bruises and scars. Maybe he finally realised I'm broken and useless and doesn't want me anymore.

Teresa says that he's just been busy with Alpha stuff but I don't believe her. I can feel deep down that he's still upset and he's staying away for a reason. Part of me wants to thank him for staying away but at the same time, I can tell my inner wolf wants him near and I don't know how I feel about that.

I know I'm going to have to accept him sooner or later but I'm scared. What if he does the things that Zane used to do?

The wolf in me thinks that he won't but I don't know what to believe. I snap out of my thoughts as Teresa walks into the room.

"Morning, hun" she signs cheerfully.

"Good morning Teresa" I sign back with a smile.

"Guess what?" she signs, a huge grin spreading across her face.

"What?"

"Your new hearing aids have arrived."

"Really?"

"Yeah! You don't have to wear them just yet if you don't want to but I thought I would let you know just in case."

"Thank you, Teresa. I'd rather not wear them just yet but I will in the future. I want to relearn to talk again so could we practice together when I'm feeling ready to?"

"Of course, love. You can come in whenever you want and we can practice."

"Thank you. I really appreciate that."

"No worries. Anyway, how are you feeling today?" she signs before beginning her daily check-up.

"I'm okay. I feel like I have a little more energy and I think some of the bruises have started to disappear" I reply with a smile.

"Good. I'm glad the IV is slowly working. I'm just worried about your wolf.

"Why?"

"Because you should have heard from her now that you're getting your strength back. You should be healing at a faster rate too but you're not" she replies frowning.

I nod and wince as she takes my IV out.

"I don't think you need this anymore" she signs smiling.

"Why not? You just said I'm still not healing fast enough"

"I know. But I.V. fluids can only do so much for you. I think you'll need to start trying to eat food again."

I cringe for a moment and I know she notices.

"Don't worry. You can start small and work your way back to normal portions."

I nod, feeling slightly better after her reassurance.

"You're also free to go home with Alpha Grayson now, love."

Oh no.

"Do I have to?" I sign frowning.

"Well, unfortunately, you can't stay here forever."

"Yeah, I guess not. Could I live by myself instead?" I sign optimistically.

"I don't think the Alpha would like that, love. Plus, you're still not strong enough to look after yourself."

I frown again.

"What about if I came and lived with you?"

"That might be a possibility if you really don't want to live with him. I would have to talk to the Alpha and ask though and he might not like that idea."

"Please? I don't think I'm ready to live in his house with him yet"

"Okay, I'll ask. In the meantime though, I've talked to Alpha Grayson and explained that you need to eat at least three small meals a day in order to gain your weight back. Please try your best to at least eat a little bit each mealtime."

I nod and smile at her. I think I can do that.

"Moving on. Would you like a shower Acacia?" she asks, her expression softening.

God yes.

I nod and Teresa helps me out of bed and to the bathroom. She proceeds to help me through the shower because I still don't have a lot of energy before helping me get changed into a long sleeve top and some sweatpants as well as clean undergarments.

We walk back out and she sits me down on the bed before grabbing a box, pulling out a container and handing it to me.

"This is your medicine. I need you to take it before you go to bed each night" she signs smiling. I nod and smile back at her.

"The Alpha hasn't replied yet. So maybe let's just go over to his house and ask him in person."

I gulp, nerves settling into my stomach.

I haven't seen him in a couple of days and now having to potentially live with him if he says no to living with Teresa is making me really nervous. I doubt he wants me anymore anyways.

Slowly, we make our way down the corridor and out the hospital doors but we are quickly stopped in our tracks as we are greeted by the horrifying sight of Grayson and his pack fighting some rogues.

Grayson growls and I notice that all the rogues have been killed except for one, whose head is in between Grayson's hands.

As if in slow motion, I watch as Grayson grunts and snaps the rogue's neck before letting him fall to the ground.

Lifeless.

I scream and everyone's heads whip towards me. I make eye contact with Grayson and his mouth drops open.

I panic as he starts to walk towards me and within seconds I'm having a full-on panic attack. He's going to kill me too.

Fuck.

Not again.

I feel the hot tears running down my cheeks as I shake and breathe erratically. I start to feel dizzy as Teresa grips onto me in an effort to keep me upright. The last thing I see is Grayson's upset face staring at me before I pass out cold.
