jeongin pov
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
It had been a couple of days since the awkward encounter at Blue Hour, and I had been trying my best to keep my thoughts occupied. Chan had been on my mind non-stop, but I refused to let myself get too distracted. I was supposed to be focusing on work and just being normal for once.
I was sitting at my desk in the back of the store, fiddling with my phone, when a number I didn't recognize popped up on the screen. I glanced at it before answering, almost instinctively picking up.
"Hello?" I said, adjusting the headphones around my neck.
"Jeongin?" a voice asked on the other end. It was a bit familiar, but I couldn't quite place it at first.
"Uh, yeah, this is him," I said, leaning forward. "Who's this?"
"It's Hannah. Chan's little sister," the voice responded, and everything clicked into place. Hannah. The one person Chan never stopped talking about.
"Oh, wow. Hi, uh... how are you?" I stammered, a little caught off guard by the sudden call. What would Chan's sister want with me?
"I'm good! I'm in Seoul for a bit, actually. I thought I'd reach out. Chan's a little... well, Chan—so I figured I'd get to know you myself." She sounded chipper and casual, like she was just chatting with a friend.
"Yeah, Chan's... Chan," I agreed, biting back a laugh. I could already feel the warmth spreading across my face. The more I thought about him, the more I realized how much I liked him.
"I was hoping we could hang out while I'm here," she continued, her voice full of energy. "I'm actually doing a concert tomorrow night. You should come! I'll leave you some tickets at the door."
"A concert? You're performing?" I asked, surprised. I knew she was an idol, but I didn't realize how serious she was about it.
"Yep!" she said proudly. "I'll be performing some of my new stuff. Anyway, I thought it'd be fun if you could come out. We could also hang out the next day if you're free. Go shopping or something."
I paused for a second. I didn't know what to say. It felt so... random. But also kind of exciting. Being around someone like her—someone who was close to Chan—meant I'd get a little closer to his world, right? And maybe I could accidentally bump into him while I was at it.
"That sounds... fun," I said, trying to keep my voice steady. "I'll definitely be there. Is there a time you want me to come?"
"Great! Just let me know when you're free tomorrow, and I'll text you all the details. And make sure you're ready to get in the VIP section. You're with me, remember?" she added with a laugh.
I couldn't help but smile. "Alright, I'm looking forward to it."
"Awesome! Can't wait to finally meet you in person," she said before quickly adding, "And don't mention this to Chan. I want to surprise him."
"Sure thing," I said, though I could feel my heart skip a beat. "I won't tell him. I promise."
We said our goodbyes, and I hung up the phone, feeling a strange mix of excitement and nervousness. My mind immediately went to Chan again—what would he think if he found out I was hanging out with his sister? Would it be awkward?
I tried to push those thoughts aside as I stood up, heading toward the back of the store to grab a quick snack. Tomorrow would be interesting, to say the least. I couldn't wait to see what would happen.
And maybe, just maybe, it would be a chance to see more of Chan without it feeling so... intense. I just had to figure out how to survive it without embarrassing myself.
Just as I was about to walk out, I checked my phone one more time to make sure I hadn't missed anything from Hannah. I smiled at the message she had sent right after we hung up: Don't worry. I won't tell Chan you're my favorite already. 😏
It made me laugh out loud. Maybe this would actually be fun.
