26 - hesitate

"i hope you get everything you deserve"

•••

Andrew frantically lifted his right leg and turned around, and I spotted an extra gun tucked into his jeans. Equipping myself with the weapon, I aimed it at Oliver as Christopher came to a stop in front of me, the dagger preventing him from attacking.

"Untie my feet," I said, pressing the knife against his throat, drawing blood, before turning to Leo, "Give me your gun; I will not hesitate to kill you."

When Christopher removed the rope around my feet, I stood up and motioned at him to do the same with my boss. Leonardo gave me his weapon, which I instantly passed to Andrew as his hands were finally freed.

I took a step towards him and ripped the tape off his mouth with a flick of my wrist. He grabbed his chiselled jawline, groaning. Was it wrong that I was dying to kiss him?

"Fucking hell," he swore, "Was that even necessary?"

"It is not painful," I rolled my eyes, "Quit being a baby and cover me, will you?" Tucking away the dagger and gun into my thigh sheath, I seized Christopher and tied him with the ropes on my previous seat.

"Bitch," he muttered under his breath, and I consequently knotted the rope closer to his skin, making him grumble in pain.

"I hope this hurts as much as your nose does," I commented.

When I was done, Andrew held out his hand to help me onto my feet. Aiming our weapons at Oliver and Leonardo, we stood next to each other.

"Kick the guns back to me," Andrew ordered Leo, who obliged after a few moments of hesitation. He slipped them into his shoulder holster and slowly spun his head towards me, "Now what?"

"You surrender," Oliver stated, "Theo is calling for reinforcements as we speak, and there is no way you can beat all of them."

I cursed as I realised he was right; the man was gone. The gears in my mind began turning, trying to figure out a way out of this situation.

"I knocked out most, if not all, of your men," Andrew informed them, "So we are good."

"You really believe I would have my entire crew in a single building?" Leonardo inquired, laughing, "You must think me stupid."

As they bickered over the incoming support, Oliver and I glared at each other; his blue eyes were burning into my soul. Removing the safety from the gun, I held it with my two hands as I rested my index finger on the trigger.

"Shoot me," he whispered, "I dare you." He had a smile on his face as my grip shook with rage. I hated him. I really did. "Come on, shoot me."

This was the moment I had been waiting for; Oliver Boyd underneath my thumb. At my mercy. I could kill him right now, and all of this would be over.

The sound of the discussion between Andrew and Leonardo faded into the background as all I could listen to was Oliver. "Get it over with, you are hesitating."

That was the final straw.

"I do not hesitate," I slowly declared and fired the weapon.

The bullet whizzed through the air and landed perfectly in Oliver's brain, making him fall instantly to the floor, the force of the shot pushing his body backwards.

His eyes were open; my senses returned back to normal as Andrew reached over to me, shaking my shoulder violently.

"What the hell, Sabrina?" he asked, "Why did you shoot him?" I stared at his body as blood poured out of the hole in his forehead, a permanent smile plastered on Oliver's face.

I could feel the tears threatening to spill out of my eyes, but I would not let them. Instead, I grinned like an idiot and gazed at Andrew.

"He told me he loved me."

The euphoria coursing through my body gave me enough energy to continue with the twisted escape we were planning.

Andrew scoffed in bewilderment as I strutted over to Leonardo, holding his hands behind his back. I felt him staring at me and, without turning to look at him, I called him over to help me.

"We nee-" I was interrupted by several footsteps reaching the entrance to the office. Theo, accompanied by two other men, closed the door behind them and crossed his arms over his chest.

"Get them." The men on either side of him threw themselves onto us as he tried to help Leonardo.

After shooting Oliver, I had stowed my gun away, but the man did not give me enough time to react. He was incredibly fast as I kicked him in the stomach, immediately regaining his position.

We fought hard, and I avoided his swings swiftly as he aimed at my face. As I hit him again, I noticed Theo and Leonardo heading for the door. Watching Andrew fight the other man, I searched around for a chair.

When I spotted one, I quickly seized it and rolled it with all my force towards the two men. They tripped and fell to the floor, buying us more time.

I got distracted with my attempt to stop them, and the man charged towards me, holding my waist as he slammed me against the wall. The air was knocked out of my lungs, and I failed poorly to free myself from his grasp.

As the man was about to strike me, Andrew ran behind him and pulled him off of me. I fell to the floor, regaining my balance as fast as I could. Kicking the rolling chair again, I tackled Theo with it as the other man attacked me.

I struggled with him as we both tried to hit each other until he caught my arm firmly in his grip. Thrusting my elbow into his chest several times did the trick and, moments later, my limb was free again.

After punching him once in the face, I pushed him away from me and swivelled around to help Andrew with the man. But he had him pinned to the ground and unmoving.

Andrew raised himself and gazed at me, ready to smile, when he suddenly stopped. Before I realised what was happening, he had pressed his body against mine; his arm wrapped itself around my waist.

My breath quickened as he slid his hand down my thigh, removing the dagger from its sheath and slicing behind my back, pulling me to the side.

The man I had fought had not been knocked out like I thought he was and now had a stab wound in his torso. He dropped to the floor, holding his stomach as he did, grunting in agony.

"Are you okay?" Andrew asked me as I stared at the dagger in his hand, "That guy hit you pretty hard."

"Well, my head is getting accustomed to being constantly banged against different surfaces," I smiled, looking up at him, "It is nothing I cannot handle." Andrew was still holding me close to him, and I smoothly stepped out of his embrace. "We need to catch them."

Leonardo had left the room propping himself against Theo, which meant their pace was slow. Before Andrew could say anything, I sprinted out the door and down the long corridor, hearing him running close behind me.

We reached the elevators, but they were not working. The door to the emergency stairs was ajar, so I leant against the wall, listening intently for any noise coming from them. I took my gun into my hand and slid inside.

"Do you hear that?" Andrew asked and fell silent. When I caught onto what he meant, we began dashing down the narrow stairs. The paces below us quickened up their speed, but they were not fast enough.

I booted Theo in the back with my naked foot, causing him to go flying forwards and getting hit against the staircase's railing. As Andrew took my place in the fight, I stopped for a moment to catch my breath. Chasing the men after being thrown around had wasted a lot of my energy.

When I was about to continue, someone behind me pushed me, and I crashed into Andrew. We tumbled to the ground, rolling down a few steps and before we hit the wall, he encircled me with his arms to protect me from the impact.

My gun had soared through the air, landing right at the man's feet. As he crouched to pick it up, I swung my legs around his neck and pulled his head down against the floor, knocking him out.

Seizing my weapon again, I aimed it at Leonardo, who was now standing alone in the middle of the stairs.

"Put your hands where I can see them," I commanded, "Andrew, grab Theo." When I turned my head, Leo lunged at me, making me instinctively fire the gun.

Click.

Seriously, who carries around a weapon with only one bullet?

"Bloody fucker," I cursed before flipping it in the air to grab the barrel and striking Leonardo's face with the grip. He stumbled a bit, but I managed to seize him.

Andrew burst out laughing as he held the man firmly. "What is the cause of your amusement this time, huh?"

"I don't know, I just love this side of you," he chuckled as he planted a kiss on the top of my head, "Let's go." We led the men up to the tallest story with no other encounters or problems.

As soon as we reached the office, Andrew and I started to work on the unconscious men. We tied them up with rope we found on our way back and made sure to cover all of their mouths with tape.

I left Oliver's body in its place and made sure to remove every trace of us from the room. Taking my dagger and gun from the table, I placed them in my sheath again as I coiled the straps of my shoes around my wrist.

"That's the last one," Andrew stated, rising to his feet, "Do you want to do the honours?" He reached over to a table and handed me the phone they had used to call him and Dahlia.

"With pleasure," I said and dialled the number. When the police answered, I mentioned the building's address my boss had told me and noted that Leonardo Moses was waiting for them, defenceless.

Andrew then smashed the phone with his hiking boot before leading me to the exit.

He had parked his car a few blocks away from the tower, so my bare feet had to endure more running, which I was not exactly pleased about. Once I had shut the door, I sighed in relief, closing my eyes for a long moment.

Andrew drove us as fast as possible back to the mansion before the police arrived at the building. The sun was barely rising when I stared out the window; the sky was still dark blue, except for a small yellow line that stretched across the horizon.

"That for sure was an adventure, was it not?" I asked when the car was parked in the garage. He let out a breath beside me.

"It sure was."

We left the vehicle, and when I was about to inquire about how he had found me, he abruptly embraced me.

"Are-"

"I'm so fucking happy you are okay, Sabrina," he said, not letting me finish, "I really thought- I didn't want to, but I thought that-"

"I am okay," I murmured, hugging him back, "I am okay."

I let everything that had happened sink in as we remained silent in each other's arms. Andrew pulled back after a few moments, examining me.

"What?"

"Your forehead is bleeding," he muttered.

"So is your mouth," I grazed my thumb over it, holding his face in my hand. He stared into my eyes and, without letting him say another word, I covered his lips with mine.

I could taste his blood, but I could not care less as I tangled my tongue with his. He took my hand and intertwined our fingers as he drew himself away, an eyebrow raised questioningly.

We were both furiously blushing, and I sought to contain my grin, but it was in vain since he smirked in return.

"Why do we kiss every time we are covered in blood?" I asked, burying my face in his chest. Andrew laughed, the noise resonating in his ribcage.

"We have odd timing, don't we?" He brought our hands to his mouth and brushed his lips against mine once. "I thought you always had everything under control."

"Most of the time, I do," I affirmed, "Sometimes I need a bit of help." He chuckled, softly pressing his forehead against mine. "Thank you for searching for me."

He hugged me again and, for the first time in a while, I felt safe.

"I always will, my love."
