CHAPTER 37

            ~Back to the past~

*LISA*

“My prince.” Lisa knocked softly against the wooden door and waited patiently for a respond but there was none. She knocked a little louder this time around, hoping for a response this time around. But there was none.

She turned to walk away when she sighted Jimin coming out from Aunt Hwasa’s room. She let out a sigh of relief, glad to see Jimin was okay.

“My prince.” She called softly, walking closer to Jimin. “I’ve been looking for you everywhere.” She said.

“Why?” Jimin asked coldly, surprising Lisa in the process.

Ever since the death of Aunt Hwasa, Jimin have been behaving strange towards her. He have been mean, cold and shows no emotions at all. That was new. Jimin have been very close to her, they were like siblings from different mothers even though Jimin was her master and she was his maid _those titles never came in between their relationship_

But things doesn’t seem right. At all.

“The ministers are here to see you, my prince.” She answered, lowering her gaze to the ground as she fiddle with her fingers.

“The ministers? What for?”

“I don’t know, my prince. But I guess it’s about the throne.” She said.

“Hmm. Tell them I will be right there.” Jimin said to her, walking away.

Lisa stared after Jimin for a while before shrugging and walking away.

*JIMIN*

Jimin stared at his reflection on the mirror, taking in his appearance. He was wearing a blue royal outfit, a black flat shoe and he had put his hair to the back. He applied a light make up.

He let out a deep breath, straighten his clothes, he grabbed his phone then walked out of the room.

He descended the flight of stairs and walked into the meeting chamber, the ministers stood up to their feet and bowed their heads as soon as he walked in.

Jimin walked towards the chair that was beside the throne and sat down.

“Seat.” He commanded. They all sat down. “I never called for a meeting so why exactly are you all here?” He asked.

“My prince,” One of the ministers began, getting up to his feet. “Accept my condolences.” He sighed. “But my prince, it’s been twenty years or more since the king died and the throne have been vacant. What do you intend to do, my prince? The people are asking questions and are also wondering what’s going on.”

“My prince,” Another minister stood up to his feet. “We knew about your predicament and the reason why you couldn’t ascend the throne but luckily for us, you’ve regained your sight… so what’s keeping you now?”

Jimin stayed quiet. He haven’t thought about the throne since he regained consciousness and his sight.

He doesn’t even know whether or not he’s ready to ascend the throne and rule the kingdom.

Honestly, he is mostly concerned about his aunt and parents’ case to even think about anything. And besides if he ascend the throne now then he won’t be able to concentrate on the investigation because of how busy he will be with the responsibility of being a ruler.

Now, the question here was, what does he intend to do now?

“My_”

“Enough.” He cut off the minister that was going to talk. He sighed. “I’ve heard everything you all had to say. And yes, I will do everything within my power to protect the kingdom and the throne. But first, I have to deal with something very important before I can ascend the throne.”

“What? My prince that won’t be a very good idea.” They all said in unison, aside from one of them.

Jimin gaze shifted to him. “What do you think, minister…”

“Mark.” He said, standing up to his feet. “My prince,” He bowed his head in respect. “I have no right to question you or your authority but I’m quite confuse, what is it you want to do that’s very important to you than the throne?”

He knew it. He knew he was the one with the sense and that’s why he gave him the opportunity to voice out his thought.

“It’s personal but I promise to deal with it soon and take over.” Jimin stood up to his feet, every one of them rose to their feet as well. “The meeting has come to an end.” He said.

Jimin walked out of the chamber and was making his way to the stairs when Lisa came to him.

“My prince.” She bowed her head. “How did it go?”

“Why do you care? It’s not like it’s any of your business so tell me, why do you care?” He raised a questioning brow at her.

“I…i…” She suddenly dropped on her knees. “I’m sorry, my prince. If I’ve ever done something wrong, please forgive me.” She pleaded.

“What? Why are you pleading?” Jimin asked.

“I don’t know, my prince. But it seems like I’ve done something wrong to you. You don’t talk to me like you always use to, you always give me those cold stare. I’m sure I did something wrong and that’s why you are acting this way towards me.”

“You tell me, Lisa. Did you do anything wrong to me?”

Lisa stayed quiet for a while before shaking her head. “None that I can remember of, my prince.”

“That’s it.” Jimin said then slowly bend down in front of Lisa. “Have you found your necklace?”

“My necklace?” Lisa questioned.

“Yeah.”

“Yes, my prince.” Lisa answered, showing Jimin the necklace around her neck.

“Wait, what?” Jimin questioned as his eyes went wide. He thought the necklace he found in his aunt’s room was for Lisa but how come Lisa have another with her?

“Is everything alright, my prince?” Lisa asked in concern.

Jimin stood upright. “I… where did you find it?”

“In my room. I found it just yesterday.”

Jimin clears his throat. “Stand up and continue with whatever you have to do.” He said before walking away.

*NAMJOON*

“The number is unavailable. We tried tracking it but we couldn’t. Seems like the sim was destroyed.” Liam said.

“Run, detective, Run! Does this mean they want to kill you?” Soo asked.

Namjoon took a gulp from the can of beer, letting out a deep breath. “I don’t know. But whatever they intend to do won’t stop me from investigating.”

“What do you want to do now, detective?” Liam asked.

Namjoon didn’t say anything for a while. “We need to go back to the past, guys.” He said after a moment of silence.

“Back to the past? What do you mean?” Liam asked.

“We keep investigating on the present… on what’s going on around but we didn’t investigate on the most important place.”

“Uh… Am I the only one confused here?” Soo questioned.

“Definitely not!” Liam said.

Namjoon repositioned himself on the chair. “Listen, when a murder takes place in a school and then the police is called over, where will the police go to first?”

“The school, of course.” Soo replied.

“Why?”

“Well obviously because that’s where the murder took place. And there will be something there that might help discover the…” She gasp. “I get what you meant now.”

“Thank God for that.” Namjoon leaned back to this seat.

“So you want us to go back to the crime scene of fifteen years ago?” Liam asked

“Exactly. I heard the park closed down after the incident. Which means everything that happened that night is still intact unless the murderer have gone there to clear every thing.”

“And what if we can’t find anything?”

“What if we can? Listen, there must be something there that will help us with the puzzle. There is something we are missing and either Mr James have it or it is still there.”

*UNKNOWN*

“If Jungkook and Jimin becomes friends then everything will be ruined. We can’t let that happen. I can’t let that happen.”

“So what should we do then?”

“Use their weaknesses against them. And oh, I think Jimin will need a new maid to trust since her other maid can’t be trusted anymore.”

“A new maid you mean me?”

“Exactly. You.”

“I’m always ready, boss.”

“This is going to get more fun.”

“But wait, what about Jungkook?”

“Leave him to me.”

*NAMJOON*

Namjoon hopped into the car, turned on the ignition and drove away from the station. He turned the steering wheel to the left direction and was driving along the busy road.

His phone started ringing, he took out his wireless earpiece and connected it to his phone before answering the call.

“Jimin.” He acknowledge.

“Where are you, Namjoon?” He asked.

“On my way home, why?”

“Send me your address, I’m coming over now.”

Question:

What can you say about Lisa now? Do you think we judge her wrongly by suspecting her? Besides, it’s not like she lost her necklace in the first place.
