CHAPTER 25

           ~The Missing Piece~

*NAMJOON*

“You seem nervous, Miss Jen.” He smiled, sitting down on the couch.

“I… what do you mean?” She stuttered, while fiddling with her fingers and gulping, looking around as if in search of someone.

“You can seat, Miss Jen and also, I’m here in peace.” He said.

“Why… did you come back?” She asked not bothering to sit down just as he had asked her to.

He shrugged, leaning back into the couch. “I’m here to ask you some questions.” He said, going straight to the point.

She scrunched up her face. “What que…que… question.” She gulped again.

“Do you have fever? Because it seems like you are burning up.” He reasoned out, watching her closely.

She started biting on her nails, hopping from one foot to another. “I…I… I don’t understand.”

“I don’t bite, Miss Jen. I’m just here to ask you some questions unless…you don’t want to.”

“I don’t want to!” She yelled.

He chuckles. “Why? Are you hiding something?” He raised a single brow at her.

“I…” She gulped again. “I don’t know what you are talking about. Wait, are you suspecting me for my father’s death?”

He shrugged. “You seem quite suspicious, dear.”

“How can you even think that? I am the daughter of he deceased so why will you suspect me instead of finding the murderer?” She asked.

Namjoon stood up to his feet. “I’m likewise confuse as well. I mean, why did your mom come to me and ask me to find ‘the murderer’ when there is a possible chance that the murderer is in here.” He fold his arms across his chest.

“What?”

“Where were you when your father died?” He asked, going into the Interrogation mode.

“I…in my room.” She responded, her gaze moved to the door.

“Are you expecting someone?” He questioned.

“No.” She answered almost immediately.

“Who called the police? You or your mother?” He asked again.

She scratched the nape of her neck. “My… My mother.”

“Did your mom and dad have any misunderstanding?”

“No.” She replied.

“How about you and your dad?”

She didn’t say anything for a while but after a while she finally opened her mouth to talk. “No.”

^Lie.^ Namjoon observed.

“Who was the last person to hold your father's phone after his death?”

“The police.” She said, facing the ground.

^Smart.^ Namjoon smirked.

The girl is quite smarter than he he expected. It was as if she had worked the answers all out.

“At what time did your dad die?” He asked again.

She thought for a while. “1…1:20? No, um,…1:25…?”

^obviously trying to remember the exact time they had called the police or…the time she wrote the note.^

“You seem quite confuse, Miss Jen.” He smiled.

“I’m not!” She denied, looking towards the door once again.

^She is waiting for someone.^ Namjoon thought to himself, staring at the door as well. ^Who is she waiting for?^

*UNKNOWN*

“Now that Hwasa is gone, what do you intend to do?”

“Of course I have to do what I’ve always wanted to do.” The female said with a smirk plastered on her face.

“But… there’s a problem.” Another feminine voice said.

“What is?”

“He can see now.”

“What?”

“Hwasa actually over smarted us even after death. Jimin can see now and there’s no way we can do what we’ve always planned to do.”

“THAT bitch !” She screamed, hitting her hand on the table in anger. “How dare that bitch !”

“But I think I know a way we can get everything under control.”

“What do you mean?”

*NAMJOON*

“Are you_” Namjoon was cut off with the open and close of the door. Jen’s face lit up immediately and she ran towards her mother, pulling her into a hug.

“Mother.”

“Hey baby. Are you okay?” Her mother asked, pulling away from the hug.

“Yes mom. I’m alright.”

^She have been waiting for her mother. But why? Was it to help her out or to cover up for her?^

“Oh, Detective Namjoon, you are here.” She smiled.

“I’m just doing my job.” He returned the smile with a smile of his own. “Didn’t expect you to be back this early, though.”

“Yeah. Have you checked everything you will need for the investigation?” She asked.

“Well, not really.”

“He has been asking me questions about father’s death. I think the detective suspects me of father’s death.” Jen said holding onto her mother’s arm.

“What? And why will you even think that, detective?” She asked, seeming offended.

“It was just a mere Interrogation and I meant no harm.” Namjoon stated.

“That doesn’t mean you should come here to interrogate my daughter! Don’t you know how traumatized she is after losing her father?” She questioned. “He had depression and_”

“Dad had depression!?” Jen asked in surprise.

^She doesn’t know about her father’s depression but whoever wrote that note seem to have known about his depression.^ Namjoon thought to himself. His gaze always darted to the wife.

*He suffered from depression.*

^She knew about his depression. Does that mean, She knows who killed her husband? And is she only keeping the person safe because the murderer is someone close to her… probably her daughter?^ Namjoon analysed.

“Yes sweetie. But it’s all in the past now.” She said with a sigh.

“You and dad should have at least told me.”

“And what would you have done?” Jen said nothing. “you see, just shut up.” She turned to Namjoon. “Aren’t you done with the investigation?”

“Was it a mistake?” He questioned.

“Excuse me?”

“Did Jen pushed her father off the window by mistake while you as a mother decided to hid the truth.”

“What did you just say? Did you just accuse my daughter of killing her father?” She questioned, glaring at Namjoon.

“The scratch in her arm was from her father, wasn’t it?” He directed his gaze to her.

“I.. I don’t know you are talking about.” Jen stutters, gulping hard again.

“Don’t deny it, Miss Jen. Just say the truth.”

“What truth are you _”

“Stop investigating.” Jen’s mother suddenly said.

“What?”

“You heard me. I don’t want to investigate about my husband’s death anymore. I’ve decided to drop everything.”

“You didn’t call the police because you wanted to catch the murderer, you called the police because you don’t want the neighbors to start talking.” He walked closer to both mother and daughter. “You know exactly who killed your husband.” His gaze slowly moved to her. Jen.
