She shrugged. "She deserves it!"

"So you confess that you stab her?" The journalist asked.

"Yeah! I would have love to stab her more!" Kate rolled her eyes.

"So you confess that you wanted to kill her?"

"Are you so dumb? Yes!"

"They both deserve to die!" she said and started her maniac laughter.

I tightened my grip on my phone and groaned, "That Kate deserves years in prisonment. In fact, she deserves death. How dare she define our fate for us? How can she say we deserve death? She's so lucky I don't have her time or else, I would have visited that jail cell she's in".

My gaze swept to Naomi. I shut my eyes and bent my head. "Thank you Lord for sparing her life. Thank you! Thank you!"

My ringtone suddenly burst into the silence, piercing it. I tried to ignore it but the thought of it disturbing Naomi's peaceful sleep forced me to pick the phone. I saw the word 'mom' and quickly rose from the plastic chair I sat on. I rushed to the window and accepted the call.

"Mom," I voiced. "Where are you now?"

"Hmm....I'm at the gate of the hospital. Where are you?"

"In Naomi's hospital room. I can't leave her side. Just come in. I've told you the room number. I'll be expecting you," I replied and terminated the call.

I went back to the chair and sat down. "I'm here for you, Naomi. I'll always be here for you". I rose her hand and planted kisses on each fingers.

A few minutes later, my mother walked in with red eyes that were swollen. I rose a brow as I watched my mom stagger to Naomi's side.

"Kate did this to you," she coughedo out and fell on the bedside. Her tears soaked the bedsheet and her cries reverberated in the room.

"Mum, did you know her?"

"Yes!" she sniffed and wiped her eyes. "I do".

"Why am I not surprised?"

"I didn't mean to be bad. I just assume it's best I cut your connection with Nigeria so you can start afresh. I was worried about your life, son!" she wept more.

"You cut my connection With Nigeria, you say! Kate was a Nigerian? Why didn't you cut her off? You let me spend my precious years with Kate. That crazy creature?"

"I didn't know she was mad!"

"It's not everyone that dresses well that is mentally stable. They may just be hiding it from you. Just like Kate, a psychiatrist confirmed that she is mentally unstable. At a young age, she had given her heart, body and soul to a guy who used her and dumped her. The effect of the relationship affected her mentally and it got worst every moment that passed by. Unfortunately for me, she liked me and she was scared of losing me just how she lost her other boyfriend. It caused her to do inhuman acts. But I don't take that as an excuse. My mom stared with her jaw slacked.

"Yeah! I want her in jail," I said firmly.

The door suddenly swung open, startling us. It slammed the wall and a lady rushed in. Her head fell on Naomi's arm as she wept. I froze, trying to understand what just happened.

A tall figure overshadowed mine and I found myself looking above. He was just a few inches taller than me but I was massively oppressed. It was not about the height but his looks.

If this guy come near my babe, I'm gonna fight. Life is not all about your looks. Even though I'm handsome beyond any girls' imagination.

My mom and I just stood still.

"Anita, take in deep breathes. Your sister will be fine. Come!" he pulled her by her arm and hugged her. She sobbed and he silently rubbed her back.

I mustered some courage and asked, "Are you Naomi's sister?"

The lady nodded.

"Yes! She is," The young man replied.

He has a good voice. Wow! I wonder how many girls he has dated? Can this be Naomi's brother? Nah! Naomi never told me that she had a brother.

"Are you Naomi's brother?" I directed the question to him.

"No?"

"Are you...hmm...Her husband?" I asked, nodding to Naomi's sister.

Naomi's sister quickly leaned away. "Whose husband?" she snapped.

My eyes widened. "Your...Um...Your husband?"

Her expression changed and she hesitantly turned to the man.

"I'm her boyfriend!" he replied.

I nodded but Naomi's sis just sighed. I didn't expect that!

"My name is Anita!" she exclaimed and rushed to me. "FREDDY! My brother in-law".

She pulled me into a bonecrushing hug.

"Brother in what????" I coughed out.

"In-law na! I called you this in secondary school. I know you might recall but see ehhh...E no concern me. You must remember me. I'm too cool for you to forget me"

"I'll try my best!"

"Better!" she chuckled. She had a brief smile before she sighed. "I'm glad Kate's caught. That's all that matters to me!"

"Me too!"

"When will Naomi wake up?"

"When the sedative clears!"

"Thanks!"

"I love your sis!"

"I know you did. I'm just surprised you still do"

"Of course I still do. She's my better half" I exclaimed.

"Awwn!" Kate's eyes softened as she stared at me.

"She means the world to me and Kate tried to snatch my world away! That girl," I groaned and my fists balled.

"OMO! If I should just catch Kate, her story will end fast. I will give her the beating of her life. Trust me. As an upcoming doctor, I know where will pain in the body. I will injure her ehhh, years will past but she won't be able to leave hospital bed. Watch and see".

"Anita, please calm down!" the young man burst into a fit of laughter.

"Prince, don't tell a woman to calm down. Is that clear?"

"Yes, boss lady!" he saluted and chuckled.

"Anita?" a weak voice called out and all our eyes fell on Naomi.

She is awake!
