Chapter 11. Innocent
A week Later. Dom's Pov
I find myself back into a familiar setting as the limo speeds down the countryside road and the sky becomes dark as the dark clouds overtakes the blue sky and the warm air slowly begins to dissipate. The wind almost appears to be as angry as I am. Although I know the circumstances are much different this time, but it doesn't help lessen the rage I now feel deep inside of myself knowing why I am being forced to play this charade. All I can think about is revenge and wanting desperately to inflict as much pain as I possibly can on those who chose to betray me.
"Mr. Bradford, we have arrived," Charles says.
"Thank you, Charles. I'm not sure how long this will last. Take this money and go down the street to the diner and get yourself some lunch. I will text you when I'm ready to go."
"Thank you, Mr. Bradford. I am so sorry for your loss."
"Thank you, Charles," I say as I climb out of the limo. My eyes roam around the graveyard and they come to a final stop as I see the white coffin with her favorite flowers draped on top of it.
"Ok, Dominic, you have to make this believable and give the performance of a lifetime," I whisper to myself as I force one foot in front of the other. As I place my hands on the white colored coffin, I feel hands on my shoulders. I don't even need to look to see who it is, her perfume is confirming enough.
"Darlene."
"Dom, I am so sorry. Don't worry, Roxanna is still in the hole, and she isn't going anywhere. I just don't understand why you haven't allowed me to torture her," her words infuriate me. I look back at her and I feel the rage surging through my body.
"You know Darlene, I was up all-night thinking of a perfect way to remind those who betrayed me what a deadly and bad idea it is to cross certain lines that can never be uncrossed. Some people take for granted I'm normally not as brutal or scary as those who are in my line of work. But when I'm pushed too far, I will start pushing back and I have no problem reminding people when you go after the people I love, you're going to awaken the monster in me," I glare at her as I step closer to her. Her fear is unmistakable as her eyes begin to widen and her body begins to tremble.
"D-Dom, I know you're upset."
"Upset, Darlene? No, I'm not upset, I am beyond furious. I'm furious at myself. I trusted people who I should have known would end up betraying me. And it literally had to take my wife having a bullet in her to wake me the hell up and realize just how much I truly love her. This is the second wife I've had to put in the ground because of my enemies. If I find out that there are more people responsible for me having to bury my wife, I am going to enjoy making them suffer," I say through gritted teeth.
"Dominic, Roxanna is the one who murdered Addison. You need to make her suffer," she says.
"Well, one thing is certain, those who are responsible for putting Addison in this coffin, will not be able to escape my wrath. I want to go to the westside warehouse, Darlene," I insist.
"What, now, Dominic?" I step closer to her.
"Now is not a good time to be disobeying my orders, or questioning my orders, Darlene. I need you to go there now," I growl. She steps back and heads towards her car.
"It's time to go visit Roxanna," I say as I text Charles.
