Grayce Mormont grew up on Bear Island, raised by her father, Jorah Mormont. Most of her life was spent impoverished, though she never knew how her House lost all its money.

When she was 19, her father became desperate and sold some criminals to a slaver. Ned Stark, the Warden of the North, was not forgiving. Jorah decided to flee to Essos to escape execution, leaving Graycie to inherit the bankrupt state House Mormont was in.

Since starting her role as Lady of Bear Island, she has been determined to fix what her dad couldn't. She developed the patience and ambition which she knew was necessary. She wanted to save her House from poverty the right way. And that's where her story starts.
