Dragons
Who calls the thundering beasts from the shadows?
Who raises their heads from their slumber?
Who shakes the Earth with their screams?
Once upon a summer morning,
I told you dragons exist.
You blew me off like a
Dust speck.
Something's burning deep inside
A flame forgotten by time
Hidden under the folds of the Earth.
Because dragons are the stuff of dreams
But someone raises the flocks of birds from the trees
Someone makes spots of warmth for you
When the rooms are cold
Something starts the fires
And flies overhead,
The overhead shadow passing before you see it.
Who do you think lives in the periphery?
The edges of your vision
That only I can see.
Once upon a summer morning,
I told you dragons exist.
And you blew me off like a
Dust speck
Until the wings erupted from my back
And the talons grew from my hands
My eyes snapped to you and you fell down
Numb.
The Earth shook under my feet,
My shrieks tore a hole in your heart
The flames I created burned into your memories
Forever,
Echoing through your head
Like your rejection did mine.
You tossed me into the flames
And I came back controlling the fire.
Don't scream and run
When your own creation rears its head towards
You.
Once upon a summer morning,
I told you I could fly.
And you didn't believe me
Until I flew
Away
.

I meant for this to be something bittersweet about childhood when I started it...instead it turned out slightly horrific. Don't know whether I'm amused or confused. Probably both.
Hope you liked it! :)
