🎃 Fourth Contest FAQ 🎃
I had been getting a lot of questions regarding this recent contest, so I decided to gather them all and put them on this page for convenience.
I apologise; I should have made everything more clear when I posted the new contest, but hopefully these will help you guys out!
Q: Can we add extra colours to the colour palette?
A: No, since that voids the extra little challenge in this contest. The colour palette gives you five colours to work with, so please stick to just those five! I WILL allow a skin tone of your choice, if you so wish ^^
Q: Can we draw more than one character?
A: It's up to you how many characters you draw, but stick to the five colours you were allocated! Remember, bonus points if they are a spooky companion :>
Q: Does the costume have to be a different character's one from a game/movie/cartoon, or do you create your own costume?
A: Once again, sorry if I didn't make this clear enough ^^' Design your own original Halloween costume for your OC from the colour palette you were given!
Q: What if you have no way to colour it?
A: I originally intended this to be a digital art challenge, since you can easily use the eye dropper tool to swatch the exact colour, but I didn't want to discriminate any wonderful traditional artists out there.
I do have a suggestion; it is completely ok if you want to sketch/do lineart traditionally, and simply use phone apps such as ibispaintx or medibang, or firealpaca on the computer to colour it in!
Q: What about shading?
A: For shading, you can use a darker version of the colour, or use the layer setting of multiply to layer your colours on top. But in the end, it needs to be obvious that your character has come from the colours that you were allocated!
Q: Can we mix the colours?
A: Mixing digitally can be done by making the brush somewhat transparent, and layering the semi-transparent different colours over one another to create new ones. This is allowed, as long as you show a screenshot of proof that you obtained the new colours from the old ones. Aka, the mixing plate?
Q: Does the background have to be in the colours of the colour palette?
A: No, the background can be anything you wish! Just as long as your character's clothes/accessories match the colour palette you were allocated :)
Q: Can we put effects over the final piece?
A: As long as the effects don't change the colour scheme--and it is obvious that you have used the colour palette, it's fine to use effects :>
Once again, sorry that I caused so much confusion! This was all my fault, so feel free to drop more questions if you need :) I don't mind answering them, since I should have been more specific. If you have any more queries, I will be adding all questions to this page, so do check and see if it has already been answered.
Hope you all have fun with this challenge! And remember, the deadline is Halloween--31st of October! :3
