His story goes on like this: (in his words)
My life started at a random street of Jharkhand. On the 2nd day of my life I was found by a group of ladies who took me from the vegetable market to the 'HOME' orphanage. Kind of those ladies that they send me to this orphanage. Obviously I don't remember all this. I was told all these at a certain age.
The 'HOME' that eventually became my home, where I expected to be for my whole life. There were many children of different ages here. The owner, Mr. Ajay Tiwari was a great person. A person I adored and respected, might be loved the most throughout my life. Age wise there was divisions in the orphanage. I don't know who cared me in my infancy. I was given my name Raja by Mr.Ajay only. In fact, everyone was named by him only.
My best friend here is Salem. I learned to crawl and speak, mainly Hindi with six others of my age. Salem, he was a Muslim. At least he knew which family he had unlike me, who knew nothing about his parents, family, religion or caste. Couples used to come rarely, and they picked someone they liked. Salem was chosen at age of five years and he departed. I had to make new friends. At this time I was introduced to books by Mr.Ajay. I sometimes followed him to his cabin. He used to listen to Hindi music of his times and I carefully imitated the words. I read the books given by him that introduced me to English and Hindi alphabets and words. Our caretaker didn't like me much. She didn't let me go to Mr.Ajay. Behind her back, I sneeked into his room. He dearly loved me and helped me learn more than others. That way I learned some poems and stories also. Mr.Ajay had a great voice and he taught me how to sing.
We got decent food enough to fill our little bellies. Daily we got rice, chapati, dal, sabji and a fry. Weekly twice we got sweet dish. Bread butter egg and a fruit for breakfast. Nothing to compare with, so it was the best food I had.
Gradually I saw some of my friends and elder brothers to leave. Some new kiddos were also here. I was not so naughty. There was a mischievous guy who scratched me and fought with me for no reasons. I was quite happy that he left HOME soon. I always wondered, "Am I so bad that no one chooses me" and at the same time when people came, I used to hide away.
But luck had its own wishes. I was seven years, when one day I overheard Mr.Ajay speaking with someone
"..."
"Yeah! It needs some redistribution."
"..."
"Yes. Wait let me check.. Yes 14 newborn, 7 of one to two age, 17 of age three to five, 15 of age six and seven,.. "
"....."
"Ok.ok. This Sunday will be alright."
The Sunday was the door to another life. A man probably to whom Mr.Ajay was speaking the last day, along with few others came to HOME. There was a lottery kind of thing going on. Then some children were called by names among which I was another. Mr. Ajay told us that these people are going to take us to another orphanage 'LIFE' and we should pack our things and shall leave within an hour. The way Mr.Ajay and the person, Mr.Aditya (the owner of LIFE) talked seemed they were good friends. Also they were of similar age. So I was a bit relieved that might be the new orphanage will also be good. The children along with me packed our baggage and left for 'LIFE'. I later understood that Mr.Ajay and Mr.Aditya conducted this redistribution of children within the two orphanages only, since they were quite good friends and they wanted equal benefits.
LIFE wasn't very bad, but was not same as of HOME. I missed my friends, the garden, and mostly Mr.Ajay. Within a week I was accustomed with this orphanage too. I had new friends, new food, new books. Whenever I tried to sneak into Mr.Aditya's room, I was not at all welcomed. He wasn't sweet or polite neither did he loved us nor did he ever come to see us. I was feeling a bit left out.
But to change my life, came a person who wanted to adopt me among these many children. I was very happy. I remembered when Salem, my best friend came to HOME after six months of getting adopted. He told he was very happy getting new parents and he was studying in a school and everything was very good. This gave me hope of happiness. The two person were Mr.Kishore and Mrs.Kamla. I was very excited.
What do you think will Raja find some happiness after being adopted like Salem said to him?
What is his fate?
