Ushie Joseph's Girlfriend.

I was dating the guy I had been crushing on since I was 13 years old. This was a dream come true. No, it was the impossible made possible.

I couldn't help but replay Joseph's words over and over again as I headed home that day.

I couldn't help but replay Joseph's smile over and over again as I did my chores that day.

I couldn't help but replay the cheers and whistling from my lesson mates, who I hadn't realised had been watching at the time, over and over again as I laid on my bed with a silly smile on my face.

Today was Thursday, Valentine's day was days away and I have to say, it was perfect timing for Joseph to have asked me out. Or maybe it was fate.

"Are you really going out with that guy?"

I looked up from my chemistry lesson notebook to see Mercy, her pen was placed on her left ear, she was half sitting on the laboratory slab before me with her eyes trained on Joseph and his friends.

I was sitting at the front of the centre slab of the three in the Chemistry laboratory, which we students used as tables. Joseph and his friends were at the back, on the third one, if counted from the left side of the lab.

"Why do you ask a question you already know the answer to?"

"Because the answer is baffling. Very very baffling."

"Are you saying that negatively or positively?"

There was a pause in which Mercy finally got off the slab and sat on the stool beside me. "Whichever way you prefer." 

Shaking my head, I let out a sigh and scribbled the solution to the last question of my chemistry lesson assignment. I got up, much to Mercy's annoyance as she was still comparing both our notes, picked up my book and headed off to the teacher's office to submit my homework.

When I passed by Joseph and his friends, they acknowledged me. Micheal glanced at me and went back to day dreaming, Joseph smiled, Divine winked and John gave a two-fingered salute. The last of the quad, a light-skinned beauty named Favour, barely looked in my direction.

I remember seeing him hang out with Maureen a lot, back when she and Joseph had been a couple. Would it be possible that he was in cahoots with her and would try to sabotage I and Joseph's relationship? 

No. I was being paranoid. I was being stupid even, he probably was just too lazy or didn't see a reason to. After all, we weren't friends. Yet.

When I had returned to my seat, I allowed Mercy to compare and correct the rest of her homework.

"Kolupo!" Someone called out.

I instantly turned in the direction of Joseph but sadly he seemed immersed in a conversation with his friends. Then who had called?

When I turned back around, Daniel was standing before me. Then I realized he had been the one who called me.

"So you and Joseph are official? You've gotten what you wanted abi?"

I glanced at Mercy who seemed to be fully absorbed in the mess that was chemistry and got off my stool, gesturing for Daniel to follow me.

We stopped right at the front entrance to the laboratory and after checking if anyone was coming, I replied to Daniel.

"It's like a dream come true. I still can't believe that I ended up with my crush." Hearing the words come out of my mouth was both shocking and terrifying, almost like I would jinx it.

Daniel gave a half smile, it didn't quite reach his eyes like they used to and I knew in an instance that something was bothering him. "Are you okay?"

I reach out to touch his arm, to comfort him in one way or the other, but before I could comprehend what was going on, a big hand grabbed ahold of my wrist and yanked me out of the lab and into the hall way.

I yelped as I felt myself stumble, only to crash into someone's chest. A hand instantly wrapped around my lower back to stabilize me and from the cologne, I knew exactly who it was.

After a whole minute in such a compromising positing, he finally let go of me. "What are you guys up to?" Joseph tried to sound as casual ask ever, but anyone with working ears could hear the real meaning.

What was this? Was Joseph reading wattpad novels or something, because this whole territorial rubbish only ever happened in those novels.

"I was talking to my friend." Daniel, ever calm and collected, pocketed his hands and leaned against the thick plastic door frame.

"Friend?"

"Yes friend."

"I thought you weren't friends anymore."

"You thought wrong." Then Daniel turned to me. "Koko Pops, I'll text you later tonight." And with that, he was off the wall and heading off to God knows where in the laboratory.

I had been watching the whole encounter, wondering if we had been shooting a movie or if that had been actually real.

I had been standing sideways, In a way that watched the boys interaction with a clear view. I turned to face Joseph. He had a deep frown on his face, as he stared through the lab's transparent walls, glaring holes through them and to who I assumed was Daniel.

"I don't like him, the guy is somehow."

Joseph gave me one glance and right after, he headed off to somewhere I couldn't be bothered about. Why were Joseph and Daniel mean to each other? Most especially, was it because of me?
