32. That Works As A Dramatic Interruption, Too
"I've shared the same realm as Hades for centuries. He couldn't keep his late night escapades with her a secret to save his life," Lupus stood on the mouth of he fissure, yellow eyes burning, "I always had my suspicious about you, Grimslay, but now I know: you're a monster, just like your mother."
Lupus's words stabbed through Grim like a knife. His grip on Artemis's arm turned desperate, nails digging into his flesh.
"What's he talking about?" Artemis whispered quickly, but Grim was silent.
Grim couldn't muster any kind of rebuttal. He stared into the abyss he had created. He remembered his dreams, how the sky was in tatters. How could he call himself anything else but a monster?
He felt Artemis's ragged breath on his shoulder. Artemis couldn't know what he really was.
"You can't even deny it, can you, Grimslay?" Lupus murmured, sheathing his sword, "Does the demigod even know? That you're a child of-"
Liquid shadows flooded around Grim and Artemis, and Grim shoved Artemis into the depths, his body vanishing and cutting off Lupus's speech.
Grim trembled, gulping at he threw one last look at Lupus. A wide grin plastered his face. Grim realized he had only proved his point.
But he didn't care. Artemis couldn't know what kind of monster he was.
Grim sank into the shadows, following his brother.
