Jose's P.O.V

Tyler's been clingy lately. But it's nice. It's nice to know that someone needs you, and sickeningly wants you.

It feels amazing. Life's not always been a crystal staircase for me.

My parents disowned me for being gay, that's why I lived alone-- and, alot of my friends didn't want to be my friends anymore. I had a hard time sticking to my Argentinian roots, and I didn't have anyone to love really. Except a dog who I miss alot.

RIP chewy. Didn't even get to say bye to him.

But, Tyler's here now and every now and then I have to thank God for doing some good in my life.

"Pass the marshmallows," Tyler laughed, grabbing a stick from Tyrone.

Danny started a fire in the hole that was in the middle of the living room floor. He gave out sticks and marshmallows and everyone cuddled on the sofas for the night, slowly roasting marshmallows and telling stories.

Giovanni threw the marshmallows to Tyler. He took out three and handed them to me, then took out three for himself.

"Teach me how to do this," I chuckled "I'm not a marshmallow guy."

"Lucky for you, sweetie, I am."

He took my stick and put the marshmallows on them, he then held them over the fire. Not directly in the fire but slightly over it.

"You see babe, hold it with an angle." He smiled "like, you're about to dip a nacho into your Tia's legendary salsa you always tell me about."

Oh yes, my aunt always made the best salsa.

"It's amazing." I nod. "One day, I'll have to make some for you."

"I can't wait." He smiled.

He then snuggled closer into my arms and nestled below my chin.

Like a little ole baby.

"You know I'd fall apart without." I whispered, only loud enough for he and I to hear.

"Likewise." He chuckled.

"So," Danny cleared his throat "how did you guys get to where you are now?"

"We drove?" Ryan chuckled.

"I bet that's the not the only thing you drove."

Danny winked at Ryan and I was so confused but I laughed anyway.

"But seriously. What did you do when the zombodes first broke out?"

Zombodes...

"Oh!" Reese nodded "I was at home, waiting for my sister to get home, and the news channel was telling this Supernatural story.. I was like whaaaaaaat no way! Then all of a sudden, Kai breaks in the door with her friends and she's screaming that the supernatural happenings are real so then I panicked but then I bossed up and took charge."

"Were you always with your boyfriend?" Giovanni smiled, "like, before?"

"Or did you two knock up one night and they fall in love?" Danny laughed.

Oh my god.

"Actually," Kai burst into laughter, and so did I, then Kimmy-- and Cody, and everyone who was there the morning we found a semi naked Ryan trying to cover a semi naked Reese.

"Is that really how it happened?" Park asked, astoundingly surprised "you two seem like you have known each other your whole lives."

"I knew her last year," Ryan laughed "she didn't notice me much. She always had her head in the game."

Danny gasped through clenched teeth and everyone continued to share small giggles.

"What about you, gunslinger girl?"

"It's Charlie."

"Right, Charlie."

"Well," she sighed "It was just a normal day, I was at the grocery store trying to get me a tomato for a tomato soup."

"Did you ever get the tomato?"

"Shut up Danny!" Giovanni playfully hit her brother then turned her attention to Charlie as she stood with her back against the wall.

"Have you always been good with guns?"

"Yeah," Charlie smiled, moving little strands of hair behind her ear,  "I was in college learning the makeshift of guns and deadly weapons."

"That's so cool!" Max exclaimed "I want to do that one day."

"Make a gun?" Danny groaned "there's cooler things to do like learn to skateboard in the zombode apocalypse."

"Listen bruh. What the hell is a zombode and why you keep saying it?" Tyrone jarred.

"It's a name for the dead.. what do you all call them?"

"Wanderers." Kimmy barged "it was a spontaneous dumb name."

We all nodded in agreement.

"Who have you lost?"  Danny asked, a little more quieter now.

No one said a word. They all sat and stared at the fire. Quietly chewing roasted marshmallows.

"It's okay to remember them, because if we don't--- who will carry on their legacy?" He muttered.

"I had a twin sister." Montana sniffed, as if she was on the verge of tears "We were fine in the beginning. But sooner than later she was bit."

"Damn." Danny sighed.

"I cut her hand off. That's where she was bit, tried to save her."

"Did it work?" Reese asked.

"I dunno," Montana wiped her eyes "she bled out cause I couldn't cauterize her quick enough."

"What's that mean?" Bella questioned. Her eyes holding more curiosity than a two year old.

"It's like burning a wound to stop the blood from flowing.. Or an infection." Cody yawned. "I'm gonna head to bed. Goodnight you all."

He got up and stretched his long pale arms.

"Make yourself at home." Giovanni smiled.

"Night Cody." I smiled.

He nodded at us and scrambled his fingers through Kai's hair before walking off and finding his way up the stairs.

Once he was gone, Danny leaned in closer to Kai.

"Are y'all a thing?"

"She wishes." Kimmy scoffed.

"No, we're not." Kai drawled "maybe someday he'll come around and see that we'd make a kickass team."

"Language!" Reese exclaimed.

"Hell." Danny winced "tough luck kid."

"I'm not a kid.  I'm nearly 17."

"I'm almost 19." Danny smiled, "Forgot to ask, how old are you all?"

"I'm 16, Cody's 17, Ryan's 18, Kimmy's 17, Jose's 18, Reese is 19, Max is 11 and everyone else is like 20 or older."

"Mm," Danny nodded, with a mouthful of marshmallows. "So we're just a bunch of highschoolers in an apocalypse?"

"Indeed." Kimmy nodded.

There was silence.

"You guys wanna do something fun?" Charlie muttered.

Charlie.. spoke..

Well, she speaks, she even sings, but she never suggests things or even says anything fun.

"Oo!" Giovanni hopped up and ran over to the corner, grabbed something and moseyed back. I didn't notice it was a guitar until she brought it to the fire, the only light we have.

"Let's dance." She smiled.

"I'm down." I shrugged.

"Makes two." Tyler added.

"I haven't danced in a while but I'll move my brittle bones for a pretty girl like... You!" Danny smiled, pointing to Charlie, sending her into giggles as she posted against the door frame with her arms folded.

"Who do I dance with?" Kai whined. And suddenly, Bella held out her hand and smiled like a little child, and together, they got up and shimmied their shoulders.

Park got up and walked over to Montana, "I'm not very good at American dancing but would you like to try."

"No thank you.." she held her head down.

"Aw come on!" Danny boasted "don't leave my man Pak hanging."

"It's park." He pestered.

"Do it. Do it. Do it," Danny started to chant and everyone joined in, and unanticipatedly, Montana got up and took Park's hand, her hair covered her face shyly like she was some Victoria Secret model.

Soon enough, we were all up standing around like idiots waiting for some music to start.. except Tyrone. Tyrone sat on the couch and glared at us like we were all borderline retarded.

Giovanni started off stringing the guitar slowly, he fingers moving quickly along the neck, the tune was unfamiliar at first but as she plucked the strings smoother, I could make out the song.

"Can anybody find me somebody to love?" She hummed.

Abruptly, Charlie squealed and began to sing with Giovanni as she twisted her hips left to right in Danny's arms. They hit it off like peanut butter and jelly.

Tyler and I held hands and rocked to the beat, our eyes closed, enjoying Giovanni's sweet tunes and Charlie's heavenly voice.

I opened my eyes to admire Tyler's beautifully defined face, but instead, my eyes met Cody's, who sat at the brim of the stairs unknowingly, watching us all dance around. But most importantly, he watched Kai swift back and forth with Bella. A smile formed across his face and he ran his hand through his hair, and his lips began to move with the lyrics of the song.

"Somebody to love."
