Chapter 2: "First Day Jitters
Nora's nerves were on edge as she walked into her first-period class. She had spent hours preparing for this moment, but she couldn't shake off the feeling of uncertainty.
As she scanned the room for an empty seat, her eyes landed on a familiar figure - Ethan Thompson. He was sitting in the back of the classroom, his eyes fixed on her with an intensity that made her skin prickle.
Nora felt a surge of annoyance. Why did Ethan have to be in her class? She had been hoping to avoid him as much as possible.
As the teacher began to take roll call, Nora made her way to an empty seat near the front of the classroom. She tried to focus on the lesson, but her mind kept wandering back to Ethan.
What was his problem, anyway? Why did he always seem so cold and distant?
As the class drew to a close, Nora gathered her belongings and prepared to leave. But as she turned to exit the classroom, she collided with Ethan, who was standing in the doorway, his eyes glinting with amusement.
"Watch where you're going, Williams," he said, his voice low and husky.
Nora's face flushed with anger. "Sorry, Thompson," she snapped, trying to push past him.
But Ethan didn't budge. Instead, he leaned in close, his breath whispering against her ear. "You're going to have to try harder than that if you want to avoid me, Williams."
Nora's heart skipped a beat as she felt a shiver run down her spine. What was Ethan's game? And why did she get the feeling that she was in for a wild ride?
As they stood there, locked in a silent standoff, Nora couldn't help but notice the way Ethan's eyes seemed to bore into hers. It was as if he could see right through her, to the very heart of her.
She felt a flutter in her chest, and suddenly, she was aware of the proximity of their bodies. Ethan's face was inches from hers, his lips curled into a sly smile.
Nora's cheeks burned with embarrassment as she realized she was staring at him. She quickly looked away, trying to compose herself.
"I don't know what you're talking about, Thompson," she muttered, trying to push past him again.
But Ethan was relentless. He grabbed her arm, his fingers wrapping around her wrist like a vice.
"Let's just say I'm looking forward to getting to know you better, Williams," he whispered, his eyes glinting with mischief.
Nora's heart was racing now. She tried to shake off his grip, but Ethan held tight.
"Thompson, let me go!" she demanded, trying to keep her voice steady.
Ethan raised an eyebrow, his expression unreadable. For a moment, Nora thought he was going to refuse. But then, he released her arm, his fingers brushing against hers in a way that sent shivers down her spine.
"I'll let you go for now, Williams," he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "But don't think you've seen the last of me."
As Nora watched him walk away, she couldn't shake off the feeling that she was in trouble. Big trouble.
