Chapter 1
*Tulip's POV*
The sun rose steadily above the horizon, illuminating the blanket I was taking refuge under, and my mother eyeing me furiously like a hawk. My heart beat felt like it was too loud under the glare of my mother, and I tried to keep still, although my muscles pained as electric shocks pulsed through them, the agony infuriating. I could feel her presence above me, sending ice down my spine.
Crap, my mind hissed at me, I think you moved your ankle just then...
I held my breathe and shut my eye lids tight absentmindedly, hoping silently that I would survive mother's wrath. Any moment now she would rip away the blanket and find me, lecturing me for hours....
I waited in silence, anticipating the blow apprehensively. But it never came. To my befuddled surprise, my mother just stated blankly, "I'll be going to work now. Breakfast is on the table. You can take the bus to school. Bye honey."
I exhaled a breath of relief and replied, "Bye mum."
I could her muffled footsteps step away from me, and the door slowly creaked closed behind her. Completely forgetting that the blanket was covering me, I got up, and consequently, received a faceful of dust. In irritation I threw the soft blanket onto my bed and stood up, stretching and yawning.
I strode over to the bathroom, picking up the toothbrush while smearing toothpaste all over it.
(Time Skip to after Tulip brushes her teeth because I'm lazy)
I threw open my wardrobe doors energetically, picking my uniform out from the tonnes of colourful clothes lining the closet.
I slid on my white polo shirt over my scraggly ginger hair, pulling on my pleated skirt and fuzzy leg warmers over my black leather school shoes. Lastly I buttoned up my navy blue blazer and fastened my eye catching red tie. I grabbed my white fluffy school bag (full of my textbooks and school supplies) and skipped out in to the kitchen where my breakfast lay on the table. I glanced at my breakfast in joy. I had pancakes! Placing my bag on a chair, I gobbled up the pancakes, savoring the delightful sweetness the haunted the flavor.
(Time skip again bc I'm really lazy)
I raced across the side walk, yelping at the bus in alarm although I knew it couldn't hear my pleas.
"HEY! STOP! WAIT!!" I called, waving helplessly at the windows. "HEY! PLEASE!"
The bus skidded to an abrupt halt, rather reluctantly if I had to guess. The translucent doors smoothly slid open, and I clambered up into the school bus gratefully.
"Thanks," I murmured as I passed the driver. He only grunted in response.
I sidled through the narrow path snaking through the crowded mass of students, squeezing past the few individuals standing in my way. The buzz of chatter hung in the air like bats hanging from a tree, and at last I found a lonely seat near the back of the bus. I saw why no one wanted to sit on it; the fabric was slightly torn in many spots all over the seat. But I didn't mind. I saw it as lonely and neglected as no one wanted it. So I sat on it instead to keep it company. The environment zoomed past, the cars and houses stretched like the cheese on a particularly cheesy pizza. The bus ride was pretty boring and oddly silent, despite the distant hum of conversations. I arrived at my destination pretty quickly, and I was pushed along with the sea of students disembarking.
[Time skip again cuz i'm really lazy rn (i'll try to add in these skipped bits later)]
I sat down at my desk in the English classroom, and waited patiently for Miss Natalas to arrive. Students were doing the usual thing they did in the morning; Raven and Lumen were chatting darkly in the corner of the room, some boys were playing football on the oval outside, the girls were gossiping and Magnolia was, surprisingly, late. After a while of sitting in an awkward silence, Miss Natalas came bustling in.
"Good Morning class."
A few of the students muttered good morning in response.
"I will mark your attendance now, just a second-" Miss Natalas took out a paper gently from a folder on her desk and started calling out the names of the students.
During the role-marking process, Magnolia suddenly burst into the classroom.
"Am I late?"
(At recess)
Lumen, Magnolia, Raven and I were playing truth or dare out on the oval near the primary school next door. I could watch the tiny kids playing and laughing together, some of them coming to investigate the high school before running back again. I glanced at Magnolia, who was visibly zoning out, staring into space blankly. If only something could switch her on again...
That's when the brilliant idea struck me like lightning. I scooted over to Lumen and hissed, "Can we invite Charlie?"
They considered it for a moment, and at last, rolling their eyes, replied, "Fine."
"Everyone, we are inviting Charlie to play with us," Lumen announced.
Raven groaned. I squinted at Magnolia and smirked when I saw her eyes re-focus. It was all coming together like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. Charlie waddled up to us as if he was standing there the whole time and sat down on the grass.
"Magnolia, truth or dare?" I started.
"Dare," she replied in a straight forward manner.
"I dare you.. to kiss Buc- Charlie!"
Magnolia looked alarmed, but seemed to agree as she winked and sat on Charlie's lap.
SUS ALERT! BEWARE OF LEMONS
"C'mon baby," she whispered loudly. "You said year 9 right?"
Charlie slithered his fingers up Magnolia's thigh and under her skirt. He blushed even harder, and tried to scoot himself away. Magnolia clutched his shoulder tightly, her other hand down there.
"I feel like we should stop them before it gets too far.." Raven said in worry.
"Nah," I needed to see how this played out.
"Uh.." Raven began.
"GET A ROOM!" Lumen yelped, covering their eyes.
Magnolia passionately began to kiss Charlie, but it didn't last very long. The next moment, Lumen had pushed Magnolia onto Charlie and she was pinning him to the grass before she sprang off him.
"OH MY GOOD!" I watched in horror as Magnolia suddenly collapsed before me.
"STOP!" she whimpered.
"MAGNOLIA?!" Lumen yelled.
"I think she's having a heart attack from kissing Charlie..." Raven stated logically.
"NO WAIT!"
"YOU REALLY...GOT..."
"MAGNOLIA WAKE UP"
"STOP! I CAN'T!"
"YOU-REALLY-"
"MY SOUL!"
"WAKE UP!" Raven commanded.
Magnolia looked like she had stepped out of a trance.
"I need to go.."
