Revelations
Once the pair stepped foot into the building they immediately noticed the sharp contrast to its exterior. The floor was smooth and transparent with a futuristic tech-like design much unlike the outer design as it had a dirt covered stone-like appearance.
However, its the peaceful appearance was immediately shattered by strange robotic enemies much different to the ones Issei had fought when he saved Kunou. The first set of machines to appear shared many similarities to wolves in their design not that Issei had time to appreciate it due to them currently baring their strange jaws at him in a threatening manner.
The next set of machines to appear were almost human sized and had a knight-like appearance. There were two sets of blades attached to their arms and as Issei observed them for anything that he could use against them, they noticed what he was doing and proceeded to open their faces to reveal a holographic skull that roared at him.
As such, they were forced to draw their weapons in preparation for the upcoming battle. "So much for a simple investigation." Issei sighed as he drew the Rebellion from his back while Ravel unsheathed her Rapier and summoned some fire to her hand.
However, unbeknownst to the pair, as the machines surrounded them, a strange as of yet unknown entity was observing from both the hidden cameras placed in the facility and through the eyes of the very machines that they were about to fight.
"So who's going to make the first move?" Issei challenged as he pointed his sword at the encircling machines. No sooner had he said that did the machines start charging forward with the intent to kill.
Issei quickly dodged a blow from one of the robo-knights before slashing it in the gut. Next he twirled around and upholstered Scorch blasting one of the robo-dogs as it leapt at him. Re-holstering his gun, Issei immediately ducked down to avoid a sneak attack from one of the robo-dogs. Issei was about to retaliate but Ravel had beaten him too it.
"That was mine!" He called out only to hear her chuckle in his direction as she cleaved another of the robo-dogs in half. After ten minutes had passed the last robot fell to Issei's blade.
Huffing out a sigh of relief, he resheathed his sword and turned to Ravel, "Well.... That took longer than expected." He said.
"You think?!" She cried out in exasperation before wacking him on the shoulder.
He yelped in pain as he dragged his hand up to massage where she'd hit him. He glared at her before sighing in defeat and began walking forward.
The pair continued their decent deeper into the building coming across more of the strange machines that attacked them. Eventually, they had come across an elevator and deciding that they had come this far they might as well go farther to learn what had drawn them here.
The elevator ride lasted about 9 minutes before they reached their destination and during that time more of the machines happend to appear forcing them to continue fighting without a moment to take a break.
Fortunately, the pair got to exercise and try out more of the skills they had gained on their journey, Issei constantly switched around his weapons for a very chaotic fighting style that would prove hard to replicate while Ravel constantly used her flames to provide distance between her and her opponents to give a chance to catch her breath.
As the last robot fell, the elevator finally arrived at its destination.
"Finally!" Issei exclaimed as he rested on his sword before rising to his feet with a groan. "I'm starting to think that whatever is here, isn't really worth it." He said.
"I'm inclined to agree with you darling but we've come this far and I have this feeling that we're nearing the end of our journey." Ravel said as she walked over to him.
"Let's just hope that whatever IT is, is something that'll be useful." Issei said with a frustrated tone.
With that said, the pair made their way forward and entered into a giant dome-like room. On the far side of the room was a mural and on it was 9 strange figures, two of which were familiar to the pair.
( Pretend that the Phoenix is there)
"Is that...?" Ravel began before she trailed off as they edged closer to the mural. "It is..." Issei answered as he struggled to comprehend what he was seeing.
"But how....?" She asked as she looked over to him.
"I don't know..." He replied.
As the pair focused on the strange mural, they never noticed that something was scanning them.
Suddenly, the room began to rumble and shake snapping the pair from their dazed state. Quickly, they whirled around and started running towards the exit only for the door to slam shut before they even got close.
Issei's quickly drew the Rebellion from his back as Ravel sparked a fire in her hand. Eventually, the room stopped shaking and strangely there were no enemies to greet them once the door opened.
Cautiously, the pair inched forward into the strange room. Unlike the last room, this one appeared to look like an alter and there was a strange structure near the back of the room with a glowing orb resting in the circle.
"What... is this place?" Ravel asked as she looked around in awe as Issei turned to her with a stupified look.
"And you're only asking that now?!?" He asked before raising his sword in caution. "Keep up your guard, we don't know what could happen in here." He cautioned as they got closer and closer to the structure.
"Greetings, Wardens." A deep voice resonated through the room, startling the pair.
"Who said that?!?" They called out as their eyes narrowed in suspicion.
"Don't be afraid. I mean you no harm." The voice called as the ball of light suddenly began to move drawing closer to them.
As orb grew closer the light faded revealing more of the being that was currently talking to them.
"Who or what are you....?" Issei cautiously asked the strange machine as he raised his blade at it.
"I am Offensive Bias and I am an AI." The newly revealed Offensive Bias answered.
"Who made you?" Issei asked.
"I was made by a race that existed long before the factions from a time before Heaven and Hell." Offensive Bias answered.
"What do you mean by "a time before Heaven and hell" Ravel asked in confusion.
"My apologies it has been many a millennia since I've conversed with another sentient but I shall do my best to educate you." O.B said before he began his story.
"When the Universe first began, God was not the only one to exist. Alongside him was the primordial, the first ever Warden, Ifrit. As God shaped the world, Ifrit brought to it the concept of elements but he felt lonely and not even God's companionship could rectify that, so he amused his own power and shaped eight beings of elements - the Wardens and in doing so Ifrit lost a huge part of his power but that didn't bother him, not at all, for he knew that it would return in time. As for these eight beings, they governed the elements that helped shaped the world. With their help, God made three civilisations - the Isu, the Fallen and the Forerunners - my creators. These three civilisations were masters of their chosen craft with the Isu being master sorcerers while the Forerunners where masters of technology who abhorred magic in it's entirety and the Fallen where masters of both, having sought for a means to unit the two concepts together." Offensive said as machines in the background began to silently construct somethings but neither Issei or Ravel noticed as thet were too wrapped up in the story to realise.
"Their creators could only watch in joy as they helped guide each race to be it's best self yet. However, there was a darkness that hung over the world. For you see, when God and Ifrit brought light there must also exist darkness and from that very darkness spawned multiple monsters and eldritch beings. They were as powerful as they were ancient having existed in the darkness of the universe long before the concept of light was ever born. They had warned against God and his allies but they had ultimately lost with many retreating into the darkness of space to slumber whole others where sealed in planets as well as beneath the darkest depths of sea where their seals would be watched by the Warden of Water for a long time. However, during that time the Fallen had grown arrogant claiming that they stood on par with God as they began creating weapons that they believed could challenge him. Unfortunately, this notion was soon proven wrong but unable to cope with that knowledge they soon turned their attention on the other two civilisations and began waging war on them." Bias continued with a note of sorrow laced within his tone.
"The war had waged on for over 700 hundred years which eventually lead to all three races being wiped out. When the Eikons realised this, they felt sorrow and couldn't fathom as to how it could have happened. Eventually, Ifrit and his fellow Eikons thought that the best way to understand any race that exists was to become them. With their decisions made, they sacrificed their physical forms to start a life of reincarnation to understand life and death. God was the only one to reject this and vowed to safe guard the next race he creates as he awaits for the Eikons eventual return. Using the the previous races as blueprint's, God set out to create his new creations but not before burying any and all remnants of the previous races. Soon, time passed on and God watched as his new creations advanced and evolved but as he did, he learned something horrible, remnants of the Eikons powers were left behind and come form their own beings, Ifrits flames had come to form the being known as Ddraig, Bahamut's light had brought Albion to existence with the worst one to exist being born from a fusion between Ifrits and Odin's power - The Beast of 666 - Trihexa. Unfortunately, having spent a great deal of his power in forging the new races, Gods power had wained severely and having never given himself the chance to rest ultimately cost him his physical form during his attempt at sealing the Dragons. To make matters worse at some point, God was split in two, one side was good and the other was evil. God had managed to banish his evil half but not before he'd sealed away the magical Aether that existed within the Earth but it seems that God's darker half has returned and with him, the Aether itself has been restored and has allowed the Eikons to finally return." Bias revealed as he finished his story before turning around to check whether the objects he was creating had finished.
"Wait... Does that mean...?" Issei began before being cut off by Ravel. "We're the reincarnations of the Eikons?!" She yelled out in disbelief.
"The reincarnations of Ifrit and the Phoenix to be exact." Bias specified as he returned his attention to the pair.
Suddenly, a loud ding sounded through the air.
"Ahh, it's ready!" Bias exclaimed as he suddenly flew over to the wall on his left.
"Wait... What's ready?" Asked Issei as he raised his guard cautiously. Ravel looked over to Bias as he continued to however near the wall.
"Your new allies." Was all it replied as the wall suddenly opened and out came 4 figures. One of which looked like an attractive female, while the others looked like humanoid robots complete with clothing and hair.
"Who or what are they?" Issei asked as he raised the Rebellion towards them.
"Didn't you hear me? Their your new allies." Bias replied as he hovered over the 4 new entities. "The humans were working on a new type of servant called Worker Drones but when the Aether was released back into the world the project was stopped dead in its tracks, fortunately, the Aether reactivated a large chunk of my systems and upon seeing their potential use I had my drones head out and fetch them. When their bodies and data was brought back, I set out to modify them so that they'd be better suited to this new world. I call them Disassembly Drones but you can call them Murder Drones as well. As for the Humanoid female, she was created after I scanned you and your female friend for combat data, using the data I had gained from you two I created her to better help you during your journey. She looks human because she's an android and created her based off of some data I had gained from the same place the drones where created." Bias revealed before flying back over to the pair. "There is one more thing that is coming so don't leave just yet but in the mean time why don't you greet your new allies." Bias asked before he flew off into the distance.
Issei turned to face the machines, studying their faces closely. "Alright, can I have your names, please?" He asked.
The male Disassembly Drone stepped forward first and saluted. "I'm serial designation N! It's a pleasure to meet you." It - he - greeted before getting whacked on the back of his head by the female one with twin pigtails.
"Don't be so over dramatic! Any way... I'm J nice to meet you boss." She said as she turned to him with a smile.
The third Drone had somewhat of an unhinged look in her eye and a psychopathic smile plastered on her face as she waved at the pair. "Hi! I'm V!" She said.
Finally, it was the Androids turn to introduce herself, "Just call me A2." Was all she said.
"Well than it's a pleasure to meet you guys." Ravel said with a smile on her face. "I have to ask, do you have your own weapons though?"
J was the one to answer her question, "I don't know about A2 but we Disassembly Drones have built in weapons for combat and we have built in wings for flight." She explained.
When Issei looked over to A2 for her reply, she simple shrugged, "While I don't have built in weapons like the Drones, I do have training in all kinds of fighting ranging from armed to unarmed combat but I don't have any weapons on me at the moment aside from this little guy." She answered as a small hovering box appeared from behind her. "It's basically a guns, scanner and a fishing rod."
Once A2 finished talking, Offensive Bias finally returned with him being followed by a strange spider-like machine.
"Ahh, I see that you're getting along well with your new companions!" Bias exclaimed as he hovered over to Issei. "Thank you for your patience. We can now leave the building."
"We? What do you mean we??" Issei asked confused as to what the A.I meant.
"Oh, I'm coming with you of course!" Bias exclaims in a joyous tone. "I've been trapped in this place for to long a time, I wish to experience the world and as such I've downloaded every last bit of data from this place and established a data connection to the Omega Drone. That way I can switch bodies whenever I like and due to machines mixed nature of both flesh and machine, you can make a contract with it and by extension with me!" Bias cheerfully revealed as Issei looked at him absolutely dumbfounded by what he heard.
"So let me get this straight, you want to become my familiar just so you can leave this place?" He asked the A.I as Ravel looked on in absolute confusion at the absurdity of it all.
After a moment of thought, Issei finally made his decision. "Alright, I need the extra help." Issei said as he extended his hand towards the A.I, suddenly a red Omega symbol appeared on his hand as a red demonic sigil appeared beneath the machine.
Once the light had faded, Issei found that the Omega machine had disappeared while the A.I's original body remained.
"Okay, now that that is done, we can leave now." Issei said as he turned to leave, resheathing the Rebellion as he did so.
"Don't worry about going out the way you came in." Bias said as he stopped the group from leaving. "Now that you've arrived at this part of the temple, it's teleporter has activated so you can leave this place from there." Bias revealed as a blue light began building up around the group before they disappeared.
The next thing Issei knew was that he was standing besides his car with a quick glance he managed to see the rest of the group laying on the ground, probably unused to being teleported.
With a smirk Issei walked to the back of his car, opened the boot and climbed in so he could grab a fresh change of clothes. Once he returned, I he found that everyone had finally woken up or in the case of his robotic companions "rebooted".
Eventually, everyone had woken up and Issei was forced to explain all about his home/base of operations as well as how to get there.
By the time the machines had entered the Gap it was already turning to night so Issei had to quickly help them find each of their rooms while also learning more about what they could do. Oddly enough, Bias' room was inside located inside the science room on a strange podium while A2's room was just a strange black box.
Apparently, N was really good at being a caretaker so he'll probably stay behind as he looks after the base.
Eventually, everyone had a quick meal before they started to settle down for the night in their respective rooms except for Ravel, who'd taken to sleeping in the same room as Issei.
Before Issei had gone to bed, he had quickly drawn up a couple of weapon blueprints for both Ravel and A2 dubbed Phoenix weapons and Type - 40 Weapons.
_______________________________________________
Well that's it for this chapter! It's over 3000 words long and filled with lore. Also having played NieR Automata and found their weapons incredibly appealing I thought hey why not given some of the games weapons to other characters. In addition, I felt like adding A2 and the Murder Drones to the story was probably going to be a good idea but we'll see about that in the long run.
Also the title for the next chapter is "The Cat and The Dragon". Let's see if you can guess which two characters it's refering to. If you do guess right than I'll give you a free shout out in the next chapter. Anyway, enjoy the chapter! I'll probably focus on the prologue for "The Multiversal Playthrough" before I go back to this story.
By the way, thanks again for all your wonderful support!
