Time For School!

For scarlettromanof. Enjoy!

'Beep, beep, beep!' Peter slammed the snooze button on his alarm clock, groaning.

"C'mon, Peter!" He head Aunt May call. "It's your first day of school! You don't want to be late, do you?"

Peter forced himself out of bed, stumbling over to his dresser, pulling out a button up shirt and khakis. Aunt May always insisted on his looking nice on the first day. He slicked his hair back, and brushed his teeth. His phone dinged with a text from Ned. 'I can't believe that we're going to school with THE Scarlet Witch!'

Peter grinned. He had somehow forgotten that! 'Me either! But remember that Mr. Stark said I wasn't supposed to tell anyone, so that goes for you, too.'

'Yeah, yeah. But how awesome is that?!'

'Really awesome!'

Peter hurried to the kitchen, setting at the table, where a bowl of cereal and a cup of coffee greeted him. After scarfing down his food, he grabbed his backpack.

"Do you have everything that you need, Peter?" Aunt May questioned.

Peter double and triple checked his bag. "Yep. Bye, Aunt May!"

"Bye, Peter!"

Peter ran out the door, hurrying down the halls to the door of the building. He ran to the nearest subway station, where he got on a train to school with Ned. When they got there, they waited right outside of the school for Wanda.

"Oh, my god, I still can't believe that this is happening!" Ned exclaimed.

"Neither can I, but keep it down." A few minutes later, he spotted her. "Hey, Wanda! Over here!"

———

Wanda flipped her loose braid over her shoulder and ran to the kitchen, where Natasha was waiting for her with eggs, a piece of toast, turkey bacon, and a glass of water.

"Thanks," Wanda said. She was forever grateful that the adult Avengers were willing to take the effort to make completely sure that her food was kosher- she was plenty familiar with people who simply just didn't care. She ate the food as quickly as she could.

"Are you excited for your first day of school?"

"That's like asking if I'm excited for hell on earth."

"Wanda, really? High school isn't that bad."

"I was joking, Nat. I'm from a country that was torn apart by a civil war for the majority of my life. I feel I can make that joke about really anything I want."

"Alright, alright." She walked away.

When Wanda finished her food, she put the dishes in the sink. Then she grabbed her backpack, ready to walk out the door.

"Come here, Wanda," Tony said. Wanda walked over to where Tony and Tasha were standing. Natasha neatened the loose strands of hair the refused to stay in the braid. Tony handed the Wanda a pair of faux glasses.

"You want me to try to pull a Clark Kent?"

Tony smiled. "Exactly. Hopefully it will work."

Wanda put the glasses on.

"Ok, Wanda, remember to go out the back door, don't tell people that you're Scarlet Witch, use common sense, be polite, yada, yada, yada. Have fun! Now go!" Natasha gently pushed her towards the door.

"I'm going, I'm going!" She ran out of the door. It didn't take that long to get to school, and the second she got on the grounds, she wanted to turn around and go back to the tower, but she knew that wasn't allowed. She sighed. Her eyes scanned for Peter.

"Hey, Wanda! Over here!" She heard him yell. She quickly turned her head towards the voice to see him standing with another boy. She ran over to them.

"Hey, Peter."

"Hi. Uh, this is my best friend, Ned! Ned, this is Wanda."

"Nice to meet you, Wanda!" Ned said, sounding very much like a fanboy.

'So he did tell someone,' She thought with a smile. "Nice to meet you, too, Ned!"

"Oh my god, she just said that it was nice to meet me!" He whispered to Peter.

"I know!" Peter said excitedly.

"Ok, I'm honored by all the fanboying, honestly, but please calm down. Trying to keep this on the down-low, remember?"

"Oh, right," Ned said. The trio walked into the school. The passed a board with a bunch of flyers on it. "Hey, check it out! Debate team tryouts are today!"

"Yes!" Peter exclaimed.

"Debate team?" Wanda asked.

"Is that not a thing in Sokovia or something?" Ned asked. "Basically, it's a school team that, well, goes to debates and stuff. The judges or whoever chooses a topic and the teams- pro and con- have to come up with sound arguments to help their side. It's essentially like a formal argument."

"It's really fun, especially if you like logical and quick thinking. You should try out with us! I made the team last year, Ned almost did, but someone managed to top him. I'm not saying that you have to try out, I'm just saying that you might like it."

"I don't know."

"C'mon, I bet you'd be great at it!"

"Be great at what?" A boy asked.

Peter groaned. "Hey, Flash."

"Hey, Parker. Answer my question."

"I was just telling Wanda that she might like to try for the debate team."

"Wanda?" He turned is attention to the brunette. "You're new."

Wanda nodded.

"Where are you from?"

"Nowhere near here," She said.

"Whoa, strong accent. You a foreign exchange student?"

"No, but I just moved here a few months ago."

"Ah. Well, I should go ahead and warn you that those two are total losers. You'll want to avoid them like they're the plague."

Peter quickly stepped in. "I was asked to show her around, since it's her first day."

"Oh, so she didn't choose to hang out you losers!" He looked Wanda. "Good call. And as much as I hate to agree with them, debate team is pretty cool."

Wanda made a sound of exasperation. "Alright, fine, I'll try out for the stupid debate team! Just get off my back!"
