Ivory (Time Skip)

❝ SERENITY

"Mommy! Daddy!"

From a distance, you heard your daughter's voice getting louder.

"Ivy!" Ngiting tawag mo sa kanya as she hugged you. "How was the first day of your school?"

Ivory Serene Mitsuya, or Ivy as her nickname, is the only child, and she's currently six years old.

Kakagaling lang din niya sa school, and for now, you and Mitsuya took a day off from work for your daughter's first day of school dahil kayo ang naghatid sakaniya. Ikaw na rin ang nag-ayos ng buhok niya, and mahilig ka rin ayusin ang buhok niya in a pigtail style.

"I got stars!" She proudly showed you and her dad the stars stamped all over her little arms, at marami ito. "I was also the one always reciting in class! I got a perfect score on my first seatwork!"

Mitsuya chuckled and carried his daughter. "Very good. Daddy and Mommy are proud of you, baby. What reward do you want?"

"Anything?" She asked with pursed lips.

"Of course, anything."

"I want a doll house!" She exclaimed.

Hindi na namalayan ni Mitsuya na you're taking a photo of them, with him carrying his daughter with a genuine smile on his face while Ivy has the same.

You posted this on Facebook, with a caption...

Ivy's first day of school, is done. Daddy is indeed proud of his girl, and of course, mommy too! I love you, my dear daughter, Ivory. ❤️

"Hala!

"Alright, Ivy, we'll buy you that but go to your yaya first so that you can take a bath. Take a nap as well. I'm sure you're tired from school." You said, also giving her a kiss on the cheek.

"Yayaaa!"

Going back in time, (Y/N) and Mitsuya both earned degrees from the UST. They both graduated with Summa Cum Laude diplomas. Mitsuya, a BS in Biology, and (Y/N), a BS in Psychology.

In conclusion, the two are now working doctors, working in the same field. Mitsuya is a cardiologist, whislt (Y/N) is a pediatrician.

All through out college life, kayo lang talagang dalawa ni Mitsuya ang palaging magkasama, even if you had so many friends in college, sa huli, si Mitsuya parin ang palagi mong inuuwian.

After graduating from college, your friends, and almost everyone, took different paths. Thinking about it, they probably have their own family now, or pursuing their dreams.

Well since today is Ivy's first day of school, which Mitsuya and (Y/N) considered as a special day, gusto niyo na nandon kayo para sakanya.

In doctors, having a day off is almost impossible.

Nursery, Kinder, Elementary, and High School, she's a consistent high honor student.

After all, a child whose parents were academic rivals when they were in high school?

"Ivy!"

Her friends called her habang nasa canteen sila. Ivy is also known as the social butterfly president of the class, and she's running as a vice president sa SSG, kaya't hindi nakapagtataka na marami ring naaakit sakaniya.

"Yes?" Ivy replied as she walked to them. She's also the 'kikay' type of girl, the one who's known for always wearing hair accessories, such as pink hairbands, pink hairclips, and iba pa.

"Have you heard about the running vice president sa SSG? 'Yung makakalaban mo!" Her friends approached her.

"Uhm, no. Sino ba 'yan?" Ivy raised a brow, side-eyeing her friends.

"Ew?" Ivy muttered.

"Ayaw mo sa kanya?"

"No. I have a thing called standard." Ivy retorted.

"Ang harsh mo naman kay Hans! Malay mo gusto ka!" Her friends told.

"Ako? Gusto ni Hans?" Tawa ni Ivy. "Are you kidding me? E, halos magmukha nga 'kong hangin kapag kinakausap ko 'yon, e! Basta! Don't be fooled by his looks and façade. Tahimik lang 'yan pero play boy." Ivy stated.

"Well... Her friend told.

"Ah, okay. Ivy grunted.

"Kaya nga. Ang strict ni tito, but anyway, may campaign pa kayo mamaya, 'di ba? Daanan mo classroom namin, ah? You have our votes." Her friends cheered for her.

"Love you all," Ivy said with a flying kiss. Wala talagang nararamdama na hiya tulad ng nanay niya, e, but her social skills are also the reason why she's very known at school.

"WOOOH! Our future vice president! Boto ka namin, Ivory!" The students cheered at her.

"Oo, bakit? At anong masama sa mga konduktor?" Ivy said as she turned her head to her.

"Arte mo, e."

Ivy looked at her, head to toe, with a raised brow.

"Bitch, both of my parents are successful doctors." Ivy chuckled.

"Ah," she muttered. "Okay. Joke lang. Ito naman, si pres., hindi mabiro."

"Haha... Funny mo." Ivy snorted as she scrunched her nose– "But, I'm not the in the mood for jokes. May kailangan pa 'kong ipasa sa council." Dagdag pa niya nang tumayo leaving the girl behind.

"I still have more important things to handle. Meddle with your own social life... If you have." Ivy added before completely walking out.

"Ivory Serene Mitsuya, from Sinag Party! Running as your Vice President!" Ivy confidently said as she proceeded with more things to say. Pinakita rin niya ang kaniyang mga platforms, tulad na lamang ng contributed for the schools' programs, leaded for several journalism clubs, student leader of excellence, and a lot more.

As usual, Ivy rolled her eyes at him, habang si Hans just had a cocky smirk on his lips, indirectly telling that he'll win against Ivy.

"Yuck," bulong ni Ivy.

"Yaya!

"Ah... Okay. Thanks." Ivy muttered as she went upstairs again, pero huminto when she heard the garage gate being opened.

"Mommy!"

"Yes?" Nagbeso muna kayo and Ivy told you a brief story about her school para na rin sabayin ang ipagpapaalam niya.

"Mom! Upo ka muna! May sasabihin ako!"

"Ah, 'yun lang pala," you sighed. "Go lang!"

" –Sa Seda 'yung location. 'Yung hotel."

"Hotel?"

"Yes, a sleepover!"

"Sleepover?" You raised a brow, "at sino naman 'yung mga kasama ro'n?"

"Uhm, Haha... Well, sina Trish, Kei, Justin, Vin, Leo... Hans, and uhm, iba pa." Ivy said, mumbling the last few names.

"Ba't ang daming lalaki?!" You gasped. "Akala ko birthday lang ni Trish?"

"Yes, mommy! Pero halos lahat ng classmates namin invited."

"Tapos puro lalaki?" Tanong mo pa.

"Yes... pero seperate rooms naman 'yung boys and girls!" Agad na explain ni Ivy.

"Kasama crush mo ro'n, 'noh?" Dagdag pa na tanong mo.

"What?! Mom! How did you know?!" Ivy gasped in panic.

"Aba! You can't underestimate mommy's powers! Sabi mo.

"Pero... papayagan mo na ako, mommy? Hehehe..."

"Hmm... fine, sige! May tiwala naman ako sa anak ko, so why not?"

"Yay! Thank you, mommy! Mwa mwa!" Ivy squealed as she hugged you.

Huhu! What if hindi siya pumayag?"

Pogi ba 'yan, anak? Mayamana ba?" Agad na tanong mo.

"Ma naman! Nakakahiya! I hate him, 'noh." Ivy grumbled.

"Anong nahihiya? Sabi mo.

"K... Fine... I can't reveal my crush to anyone at school because everyone knows na we're rivals."

"At salamat, Ate Gie."

"Pero, mommy, what if hindi niyo alam ni daddy na mags-six months na pala kami–"

"HA–?!"

"Excuse me, Ivory?! Anong six months six months?!" You gasped.

"Joke lang, mommy! Crush nga lang, e, tapos halos sungitan ako, six months pa kaya. Basta, ewan! Hindi ko siya gusto, but at the same time, oo. Mga ilang seconds, babalik, tapos aalis! Ewan! Huhu!" Ivy groaned. "Char lang, kadiri."

"Hay nako, Imagine mo, anak, your name is Ivory Serene, it describes peacefulness and quietness, pero nagmana ka sa 'kin.."

Tanong sa'yo ni Ivy, clearly asking for an advice.

"Mom, but dad said that you're always behind him in honor rolls. Palagi ka raw top two because of him–"

"Huwag kang makinig sa daddy mo, anak. Fake news 'yan. Sabi mo.

"Okay." Ivy said as she searched through her phone, at pinakita sa 'yo ang photo ni Hans na mukhang stolen. "This is him, mommy. Ayan lang 'yung picture. Hindi siya mahilig mag pic, e."

"Hmm... Pogi naman, bagay kayo. Ano nga ulit pangalan niyan?" Tanong mo. "Baka mamaya pang pak boy 'yung name. Baduy."

"Hans."

"Olaf?"

"Mom!"

"What's happening in here?" A voice was heard behind the two of you, and lumingon kayo to see Takashi na naka-uwi na rin.

"Mommy, it's our secret, shh...!"

Of course, Mitsuya didn't fail to notice this as he gave the two of you suspicious stares.

Nagtinginan nalang kayo ni Ivy. Magnanay talaga. Hindi pwedeng magtaguan ng secrets, e. Napaghahalataan agad.

""Eh... kasi ano, uhm... haha..." Ivy awkwardly laughed.

"What?" Mitsuya muttered as his eyes narrowed.

Pwedeng sumama?" Ivy asked.

"Hm. A sleepover," Mitsuya sighed as he sat on the couch. "Who will be going there?"

"My friends–"

"Names?"

"Oh? Boys are included?" Mitsuya questioned, raising a brow.

"Yes! Pero separate naman 'yung rooms!"

"Do you think I'll let you have a sleepover with boys?" Mitsuya asked, removing his glasses.

"Talk to my doctor nalang po, hehe." Biro ni Ivy na nagpeacesign. "Nako, bawal lawyer, baka magpadala pa ng abogado."

"Oh, I am the doctor here, Ivory."

"Edi... ih, basta! Sige na, dad! Pumayag ka na! I'm already in high school naman na, e... Kasama naman sina Trish and my other friends."

"Then who are the boys you had just mentioned? Do I know them? What if one of them may be fond of you?"

"Oops," Ivy whispered.

Mitsuya noticed this, quickly picking up the tone.

"Tell those people who are planning to court you, they have to face me first." Takashi strictly uttered.

"Okay, okay! I get it, dad! Now, papayagan mo na ba ako? Hehe..."

"No."

"Ih! Ano ba 'yan, daddy naman, e! Sige na! Huhu! Ako na maghuhugas ng mga plato!" Ivy whined.

"Ivy, no is no. I said no," Mitsuya said, his eyes narrowing.

"Mommy!

"U-Uhh... May pasyente pa pala ako," agad mong sabi at tumakas. "Bye!"

"WAAAAAH~!

"What?! Hala, pa'no na 'yan? I already reserved a spot for you! Even mommy expects you to be there! Sayang... we have a lot of fun activities planned pa naman!" Trish and other Ivy's friends said sa video call.

"Ayun ngA, e! huWaAaAaAh~!

"What if... ipagpaalam ka namin? Anong Facebook ni tito?" Her friends said.

Add niyo 'yung may profile, dalawa account niya, e."

"Sige."

"Ano i-memessage niyo? Baka mamaya mas lalo akong hindi payagan, ah!" Sambit ni Ivy.

"Hindi 'yan! Kami bahala!"

"Screenshare nga kayo. Patingin ako ng i-memessage niyo." Utos pa ni Ivy.

"Sige, wait."

Takashi Mitsuya

: Trish

"Anong tito pogi?!" Agad na sigaw ni Ivy. "Huy! Baka akala ni daddy kung ano 'yan!"

"Ano ka ba! Kami nga ang bahala! Syempre, tyempo tyempo muna. Malay mo plus payag points." Sagot nila.

Takashi :

"Tang ina, back out nalang siguro ako, gago! Parang galit si tito!" Sigaw nila.

"Hoy, putang ina niyo!

"Oh shit. I'm fucking dead." Ivy said sa call at agad nagleave.

"Hindi yata gumana plan... Haha..." Her friends muttered.

"What made your friends spam my chat box?"

Mitsuya confronted Ivy habang kumakain kayo ng dinner. You're just silently sitting there habang sinesermonan ni Mitsuya ang kanyang anak.

"I thought... it would convince you," Ivy muttered, head low, and barely touching her food.

"Well, their unnecessary messages made me not allow you more." Mitsuya sternly said.

"You always say that, dad... You're too strict. You barely let me enjoy my teenage life... I'm already in grade ten, and almost all of my classmates are going out by themselves–"

"It's them. It's not you. You're not them. Not all the time kailangan mong makisabay, Ivy." Mitsuya replied, his tone raising a bit.

"Takashi," you called, trying to soothe the situation down.

"I have high grades. I pressure myself just to get those, and this is what I get in return." Ivy mumbled.

"You think having those high grades is an obligation just to receive something?" Mitsuya raised a brow.

"Yes, because I expect a lot from my parents, especially you, dad... You barely know things about me, it's always mommy who listens to me. You barely attend my school programs too, dad... hindi ko lang masyadong sinasabi sa 'yo. Bakit si mommy, kahit doctor siya, she still finds time for me?" Ivy straightforwardly asked his father.

"That's where I need to fulfill my role, Ivy, and as your father, I also need to keep you safe at all times. Ivy, please, understand what I'm trying to say. This is for you, not for me, not for your mother, not for your friends, but for you–"

"No, you don't." Ivy retorted. "Ganito pala, dad, ha. You're not proud of my grades, and you don't have enough trust in me. Akala mo kasi kung anong gagawin ko ro'n sa sleepover, when infact I just don't want to disappoint my friends."

"...Kung alam niyo lang kung gaano ko kayo ipinagmamayabang sa classmates ko because both of you are doctors, and may sarili kayong clinic... but I guess you're not proud of me enough." Ivy said.

Mitsuya sighed, rubbing his temples in distress. "Ivy, look, that's not what I mean–"

"It looks like it is, though." Tumayo ito sa kaniyang upuan, emitting a loud screech as she stood up at umakyat papunta sa kanyang kwarto.

"Ivory!" Tawag mo sa kanya nang sinundan ito, and Mitsuya was left there, rethinking the words that he dropped as he ran a hand through his hair in stress.

It's also late at night, but she decided to message her friend first.

Trish Can

: Ivory

trish

ndi nanaman ako pinayagan ni dad, as usual

babawi nlng ako sainyo next time:))

Ivory sent the messages, and pinatay ang phone para matulog na rin dahil napagod na rin kakaiyak. She didn't bother to read her friend's reply as she just proceeded to sleep.

"Ivy?" Mitsuya called, her father, as he went inside her daughter's room.

He walked towards her and noticed that she was already sleeping. He also noticed the dried tears on her cheeks and the puffiness of her eyes.

Mitsuya's heart ached with the sight, he knelt on the side of Ivy's bed and to talked to his daughter as if she were awake.

Actually, Ivy is wide awake as she heard the door creak open a while ago, but she pretended to sleep.

"I'm sorry, Ivy. I'm sorry for disappointing you." Mitsuya whispered beside his sleeping daughter.

"I'm proud of you, anak. I'm proud, ever since the first day of your school, ever since you got your stars in grade one. I'm always proud of you, Ivory. I'll always be." He added.

Ivory can hear every words her father said as she held her tears back.

"You're here..." Ivy muttered.

"Yes, I am. I guess you heard what I said." Mitsuya mumbled.

"...Yeah," Ivory muttered. "...I'm sorry for a while ago."

"I wish I can take that, but, Ivy, I wish you understood what I really meant a while ago," Mitsuya said.

"I know..."

"Even so, I'm sorry for making you think like that. I'm sorry if I disappointed you. I'm sorry for making you feel like I'm not proud enough. I trust you, Ivy."

"You do?"

"Yes, of course, I do, your mother and I, that's why I also came here to tell you that I'll let you come to the sleepover..." Mitsuya said.

Ivy went silent for a moment, then– "I already told Trish that I'm not going, though..."

"It's not too late to back out, right? Things are never too late if you really want it." Mitsuya reassured her.

"...Okay," Ivy's eyes beamed up, finally seeing her daughter's smile again which made her father sigh in relief. "Thank you, dad. I love you."

"I love you too, okay? You know how much I love you and your mommy." Mitsuya said as he tucked Ivy in with a blanket, then kissed her forehead. "Sleep now. You still have classes tomorrow."

What the two didn't know, is that you were just listening outside of the room through the slit of the opened door.

A melancholic smile formed on your face as you opened the door, revealing yourself as they looked at you.

"You're here too," Mitsuya said.

"Yup," you said as you sat on Ivy's bed and lay beside your daughter.

"Mommy, why are you here?" Ivy asked.

"I want to sleep with my daughter. Bawal?" You giggled.

Ivy didn't answer as she was too sleepy and just hugged you as she fell into a deep slumber.

Tumingin ka naman kay Mitsuya na nakatayo. "Hindi ka tatabi sa amin?" You asked.

Mitsuya just gave in at tumabi rin sainyo. You're on Ivy's right side, while her father is at the left side, both hugging their daughter in the dimness, only the lamp that lighted and reflected stars at the ceiling is the source of light.

"Ivy is still really a baby," you said dahil kahit magkasing-tangkad na kayo, she still cuddles up with her parents, but you weren't complaining with her clinginess.

"Baby damulag ka na, Ivy." Tawa mo.

After all, she's still a baby, and will always be you and Mitsuya's Unica Hija.
