Weekend 2

The next day, I woke up to an empty house yet again. When I went downstairs I found a note from my dad saying he'd be working today and wouldn't be home till late and my brother as usual was out being a dumbass. When I came back upstairs to my room, I heard the chime of one of my ringtone which meant I had an email. It was from the head of the school district. I opened it and read through it.

Apparently my school district was receiving complaints that their arts programs are undervalued and never given any attention. This didn't surprise me because it's really not wrong, they don't say anything about choir, theatre, band, orchestra, fashion design, art or photography classes, groups and teams. Yet they always talk non stop about the sports teams. Go figure. However they were attempting to make it up to us by having an arts show, anyone could enter but only select students would be chosen to have their work put into the show. The top 3 they deemed to be the best ones would be displayed in the district building for the year. I figured since I already finished my homework the night before, I might as well give it a shot. I did have an idea or two the previous day anyways.

I plugged my phone in again and went to my closet and threw on my paint pants, as I call them, which were a pair of hand-me-down sweatpants from my cousin that already were pretty worn, so I didn't mind them getting messed up. I grabbed a lightweight soft t-shirt and slipped it on. Then I threw my hair up into a ponytail and added on a stretchy headband just in case some whispies got loose. I went over to my art drawers and got out my watercolor supplies from my paint drawer. I set them down on my art desk and got everything set up.

I took out a piece of watercolor paper and then pulled a pencil out of the desk drawer. I pulled up a reference photo or two for good measure and started sketching out my idea. When I finished sketching, I went into the bathroom and filled my brush cup with water.

Just as I set it down at my desk, I heard the ringing of my doorbell. I froze for a second trying to remember if I was expecting someone or something. I couldn't think of anything but I decided to go see what it was anyway. I went downstairs and creeped over to the front door window. I peered through the curtain and saw a hint of blue hair. I knew right then who it was. I sighed and went to answer the door. I opened it and there stood Ciel. He stood there nervously, nothing much new there I suppose.

"Hello (Y/N)." He greeted. I nodded.

"Oh, um..hey Ciel. What are you doing here?" I asked. He looked around before looking at me again.

"Would it be alright if I came inside? I apologize if I might be intruding.." he said. I nodded in approval and let him in before closing the door behind him.

"So what's up?" I asked. Ciel took a deep breath looking at the floor.

"I came to apologize for my behavior the other day. I was out of line. I didn't mean to offend you or show you any disrespect." He apologized sincerely. I smiled softly.

"Thank you Ciel, apology accepted....wait quick question. How the hell did you know where I live?" I asked him curiously. Ciel laughed nervously.

"Oh, right! Heh um, you see...the other day in class, Alois apparently went through your school bag and stole your sketchbook. I saw the brat looking through it on Friday during lunch and I managed to get it back for you.." he started.

"The address was written on the inside of the cover and I couldn't find you before the end of the day on Friday, so I figured I should get it to you as soon as possible. I didn't look through it though, don't worry. I knew better than to look through your things without permission." He explained handing me my sketchbook. I had been looking for it, I honestly thought I'd left it in my locker by mistake.

"I see, thanks for returning it and thanks for not looking through it, that was really thoughtful of you. Would you like to look through it? I don't mind." I offered. Ciel thought for a second before nodding.

"Of course, I'd be delighted." He accepted. With that he flipped it open and his jaw dropped more and more with each page. I laughed at his flabbergasted reaction to my art.

"Oh please, I'm not that good Mr.Drama." I rolled my eyes. Ciel looked up at me.

"Are you joking? I couldn't even process that you, a high school student could make these, they are masterpieces!" He insisted. I sighed in disbelief.

"I wouldn't lie about this. I-....wait were you painting just now?" He asked noticing my paint clothes. I winked one eye.

"Sorta, I was finishing up my sketch and getting ready to paint. You can come see if you'd like." I offered. Ciel nodded. I turned and walked upstairs to my room and Ciel followed. I took a seat at my art desk and taped down my sketch. I looked over at Ciel who stood there in the doorway.

"You can come in and sit down anywhere you'd like. It's just me here for now. Dad doesn't mind when I have friends over as long as we don't damage anything in the house or do anything stupid." I explained. Ciel nodded and took a seat at my study desk, right next to my art desk. After I put on some music, I started to paint. Ciel watched in awe and silence as I worked.

I worked for around 2 hours with breaks here and there. As I applied the finishing touches I smiled and looked over at Ciel, when I turned, he was fast asleep at my desk. I couldn't help but stare for a minute and smile. He was surprisingly cute when he slept. I went to my bed and quietly grabbed a blanket and small pillow. I brought them back to the desk where Ciel was. I draped the blanket over his body with care. Then I carefully lifted his head up off of the desk and slipped the pillow between his head and the desk and gently set his head back down onto the pillow. I decided to let him sleep just for a bit and went downstairs.

I made myself and Ciel some tea and grabbed the cream, sugar and honey to bring upstairs on the tray. When I came back up, I noticed there was a paper in Ciel's hands. There was a name written on the back. I tilted my head and saw my name written. After I set down the tea tray on the desk next to him, I thought about taking it to look at it but I didn't want to invade his privacy or be nosy. Just as I finished the thought, Ciel began to wake up. I smiled as he sat up and got his bearings.

"Morning sleeping beauty." I said. Ciel smiled shaking his head.

"Very funny. Sorry for falling asleep, I didn't mean to." I shook my head as he spoke.

"No no it's fine. I'm not that easily offended Ciel. High school is tiring. Too many late nights working on assignments I take it?" I asked. Ciel blushed suddenly clutching the paper in his hand.

"O-Oh! Yeah, that's it, exactly....too much work I guess." He stuttered. I figured I shouldn't pry since I've made him nervous enough. I picked up my tea cup from the tray and added my sugar and honey.

"I made us some tea, want some?" I offered. Ciel smiled and nodded adding a bit of sugar in his before taking a sip. His eyes widened a bit.

"Wait...is this Earl Grey?" He asked. I nodded.

"Yep! Why? Do you like earl grey? I didn't think you were the tea loving or earl grey type honestly." I said. Ciel shook his head and admitted to me that it was his favorite. We spent the afternoon talking about tea and other casual things. Nothing too deep. Eventually Ciel decided it was time to take his leave. I offered to give him a ride but he declined respectfully. I walked him out and thanked him for returning my sketchbook and keeping me company. It was a pleasant surprise after such a boring morning.
