Laxus and I continued to see each other in secret for the rest of the year, and soon people were starting to talk. They knew something was up, and I knew I had to do something about it before it was too late.

I can't keep seeing him anymore...I have to stop this before somebody finds out...

It was Valentine's day, and I was on my lunch break, thinking about how I was going to let the love of my life go.

The door then slid open, and Laxus came in with a bouquet of flowers and a small box. My heart stopped as I thought about what could be in there.

Is he crazy?! This isn't good!

He walked in, kneeled down on one knee, and smiled at me as he held both objects in his hands.

Somebody shoot me...

"Laxus, what the hell are you doing?"

"Mirajane Strauss, My love for you is like pi... never ending. Will you be with me for the rest of my life?"

My hand began to sweat, and the ache that consumed my heart was overwhelming. As much as I would have loved to jump into his arms and say yes over and over again, more than happy to spend the rest of my life with him, I knew it was wrong. Seeing him kneeled down in a school uniform, opened my eyes to my reality. It was time to put an end to my fantasy and face the facts: Laxus is still just a kid.

I sighed, knowing that I had to break his heart. Our relationship had to end, and it couldn't continue even in the future. He's still just a child and his 'crush' on me is not enough to keep us together.

I know my feelings are real, but are his? Him suddenly showing up and proposing just goes to show how much of a kid he really is...I have to end it...

"Laxus...you do know we can't-"

"Listen Mira, I'm an adult. It's perfectly legal and I'm one hundred percent sure it's you I want to be with."

I took his hand and helped him up, "Laxus, you're still just a kid."

"I'm an adult."

"An adult by age, but a child by experience...On top of that, you're my student..."

Our relationship has gone too far...I need to end this now...

"Mira, why are you suddenly saying all this bullshit? You know none of that matters! We both said we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together, so what's the problem now? We can run away together and -"

"Laxus...we can't be together."

I ran my fingers through his hair, wanting to get one last touch before I could never feel his golden locks ever again. "I'm sorry..."

"No...I don't believe you." He pushed me away from him, angry with me and my words. "Tell me why...why can't we be together?"

"Because what we have isn't real."

"What? What do you mean this isn't real?! Are you saying all those times we spent together going on dates, sleeping in each others arms, saying I love you after every passionate kiss...are you really saying all of that wasn't real?!"

In that moment, I heard the shattering of my heart ringing in my ears. I stared at the ground, guilty and full of shame. "Yes...none of that was real..."

He walked up to me, taking my face in hands and pulling up so we could make eye contact. He stared at me with a pained expression before he bent down and kissed me. "I know you're lying Mira..." he whispered after he released the kiss.

"I'm not..."

"Yes you are...your nose scrunches up when you lie..."

Tears began to fall out my eyes uncontrollably as he held my face in his hands. "Laxus...I'm sorry..."

He quickly embraced me, allowing me to cry into his chest. "Mira...do you really want this to end...?"

I shook my head no as I contiued to cry.

"Does it really have to end...?" He asked again with a shaky voice.

I nodded my head as I tried to wipe my tears.

He placed his hand on my chin, making me look up at him as we shared another bittersweet kiss.

"I love you Mirajane..." he whispered as he kissed me sweetly.

"I love you too Laxus..."

We embraced each other again, not wanting to let go, because once we did, we could never go back.

"I'll wait for you..." he whispered into my ear.

"You're such a stupid kid..."

That was the last time our lips would ever meet. The last time I would ever hold him in my arms. The last time I would ever be held and loved by him. That was the last time I would ever be happy.

3 months later

I had been grieving for three months after Laxus and I had broken off our relationship. The space where my heart use to be be was now vacant. I was no longer the woman I use to know.

"Mira nee-chan! Nii-chan! I'm home and I also brought company!" yelled Lisanna as she opened the door.

She walked happily with a smile as she held onto the hand of the pink haired boy I later learned to know as Natsu Dragneel. As I watched how happy she was with him, it made me wonder, could I be that happy if I were with him?

I sighed as I remembered my foolish ways that affected my future.

"The day I met you, Natsu, was the day I was no longer Mirajane but an evil woman created by a broken heart. Seeing how happy Lisanna was made me want to take away her happiness so I could feel better about myself. I never once loved you, but I used you because making you and my sister angry made me happy...I'm a despicable woman...

I know what I've done can never be forgive, and a mere apology won't be enough...but I'm sorry Natsu...I'm sorry..."

Natsu P.O.V

She began to wipe the tears from her eyes as she sobbed. "Th-that's why you ha-have to let he-her go. You'll end up like me if you don't..."

In that moment, I felt a pain whelm up in me.

"Listen Natsu...Love is an evil thing...it's what made me a monster...I couldn't get my love, so I made it so no one could."

"Mira..."

"Please...don't tell Lisanna...she doesn't know about this."

I nodded in agreement.

She then laughed a little with tears still rolling down her face. "I don't want her to know I lost my virginity to an eighteen year old boy...that's just gross...haha..."

She then began to cry louder, "Laxus...I miss you..."

That night, I went home with a single thought in my head
