Drama 34: Connecting

Juvia P.O.V

As I sat in class, I realized that there were a lot of things I didn't know about Lucy, like her relationship with Dragneel Sensei, if that was even true.

People continued to gossip about the scene in the cafeteria, but it seemed as if no one actually believed in what Levy said.

"I know that girl. She's always quiet and to herself. There's no way she could ever steal someone's boyfriend, let alone sleep with a teacher," said a girl.

"Right? I was thinking the same thing. She's too innocent."

"That was all a bunch of bull that Levy was trying to start."

"At least we got a show for lunch, haha!"

I sighed in relief that no one believed in Levy, but I couldn't help shake the fact that what she said might have been true.

Maybe I can ask her...and if she can tell me...I guess, I'll tell her my own dark secret...

I placed my hand over the right side of my torso and sighed. We're friends...

I began to walk outside the classroom when I saw Gajeel, Levy's boyfriend and the boy that made me change my path.

"I see you're not lonely anymore," he said with a smile.

"I'm surprised you recognized me," I said a little happy to have someone who shared a past as dark as mine.

"How could I forget the one person who took me down like it was nothing?"

I moved to the side and began to talk with him. We spoke about the past and how we each were saved from the darkness.

"I owe Levy my life..."

"Yeah, but are you dating her because you truly love her or because you're in love with the idea of her because she saved you?" I asked.

"Hmm I dunno...but I do know one thing, I want to be with her no matter what. I owe her my life."

What an idiot...He wants to stay with the girl that has more insecurities than me...

I sighed and began to walk away. "I hope everything goes well with you."

"Same to you, Ame."

I stopped walking, looking back at him. "It's Juvia...that's my real name."

He nodded his head a gave me a small smile. "See you around, Juvia."

I walked out the school to see Lucy sitting outside on the steps. "Lucy, how come you're still here?" I asked a little surprised.

"Oh, I was waiting for you," she replied with a smile. She stood up and began to walk alongside me to my bus stop.

"So you're suspended?" I asked.

"Yeah...for three weeks...Ugh, if mom and dad were still alive, they would have killed me..." she said with a sigh.

"They're dead?" I asked a little surprised.

"Mhm. My mom died when I was younger and my dad died about a years ago now."

So she also has no parents...? I wish I would have known sooner...

It pained me to know that I knew almost nothing about the very friend that I admired the most. She was my savior. She took the time to know about me, but I never took the time to know about her.

"Lucy?" I asked, hoping to start a conversation that would bring us closer together.

"Yeah?"

"About what Levy said...is the thing about you and Dragneel Sensei true...?"

She sighed as we sat at the bus stop's bench. "Yeah...she was telling the truth...I was in a relationship with him..."

My eyes widened in shock. Lucy? The naive girl who I thought would never fall into dark temptation, actually committed a taboo?

"But-"

"I was stupid...It was a mistake...I really am just a naive girl trying to play grown up..."

I wanted to hold her in my arms the same way she did for me. "Lucy...if you don't mind me asking...what happened?"

The wait at the bus stop became the place of our connection. She told me her sins and I told her mine.

I slowly lifted my shirt so she could see the right side of my torso. I then licked my finger, and ran my wet digit across the layers of makeup on my skin. Slowly, a small part of my mark of darkness appeared.

"This is my secret...this mark will always follow me until the day I die. I'll never be able to forget my days as Ame..."

I slowly covered up my belly and stood up. The bus was slowly approaching and it was time for us to walk our separate paths.

"I'll see you tomorrow, Lucy."

"See ya, Juvia."

Natsu P.O.V

I sighed heavily as I looked at the ice cream parlor. Is it okay for me to be here?

I was about walk away, but I quickly stopped myself, turning myself back around to teach for the door to open it. But like before, I turned away last second in fear.

What're you doing Natsu?! Just open the damn door!

I sighed and stared at door one last time, but again, I turned around in fear. Damn it!

"Hey fifty year old pedo, it's either you're coming in or you're leaving. Stop hanging around my door. You're scaring off my costumers, you pink haired idiot."

I looked back at the insulting voice and saw Carla. "I'm sorry..."

She grunted in annoyance as she walked back inside. I followed behind her and sat at the bar table to speak with her. "Um...Miss Carla-"

"Just call me Carla. Calling me Miss makes me feel ten times older than I actually am."

"Oh. I'm sorry...So uh Carla, I-"

"Let me guess. You couldn't find Lucy, and now you're stuck avoiding her at school and you can't even tell her the so called truth of your situation."

I nodded as I looked at the table in shame.

She sighed as she walked away. "You clearly have no one to talk to if you're coming to me for advice...what a sad man you are."

Sad...? More like pathetic...My life has been nothing but bullshit, but when I finally met Lucy, something in my life finally felt right...

"Lucy is still a child," she said as she walked back with a deck of tarot cards. "She will never understand the world of the adult until she gets older, but I can tell by just looking at you that you've had a rough path of adulthood compared to others...you're path is something she will never understand because she will always be blessed...That is why her parents named her Lucy...because she will always be lucky."

She unboxed the tarot cards and spread them on top of the counter. "Your aura is full of pain...you've been abandoned and manipulated...you were a bad kid because you were lonely, and now your world is suffering in loneliness."

"Wait...How do you know all this?" I asked confused.

"I'm a psychic," she said as folded her hands on top of the counter, "And I know you're lonely just by the look in your eyes. Lucy is your lucky charm to a better life. She's what you've been waiting for all these years, but are you good for her?"

Am I good for Lucy...? I'm such a broken old guy compared to her...Maybe it's best-

"Don't go around jumping to conclusions, Pinky. I can read your thoughts. Just stop thinking and pick a card."

I picked a card from the spread open deck, and she quickly collected them all, shuffling them until six others fell out and landed on the counter. She began to organize them, staring at each card with care before giving me my reading.

"You're stuck between three people...One who you have absolutely no intrest in, another that wants you because she wants you to suffer as she has, and finally we have Lucy, your lucky charm in life. The path you're currently headed on is full of turmoil and there is no way of avoiding it. Depending on your choices, you will end up with either Lucy, the girl you have no interest in, or alone and manipulated because you no longer care for life."

She sighed as she picked up the six cards and placed them back into the deck, stuffing the cards back into their box.

"All I can tell you is to make good choices. Only fate will tell who you'll be with in the end. Take life one day at a time. At least now you know Lucy is in your future."

I felt a weight lift from my shoulders knowing I still had a chance with Lucy.

"I gotta get back to work. Make good choices, Pinky."

I let out a sigh of relief as I felt my heart beating again. I still have a chance with Lucy, and I'll do whatever I can to be with her.
