Chapter 46
"This is a waste of my time anyway, is not like you would understand. You've got your perfect
life going on for you.
You don't need any friends, you've got Tyler and a mother that is always there for you.
Just forget it okay," she said boldly, trying to pretend like she didn't care and that it was all OK, but I could tell she was really hurting.
I never knew she was having such a bad time, I guess ruining others lives makes her feel better, no wonder she acts the way she does.
"Not always," I said facing down with tears dripping from my eyes.
"What are you talking about? Don't try to act all innocent and miserable to me, because I know you're not," she said folding her arms, a little bit angry but mostly sad.
"Perfect?...perfect...She's going to die Lucy!, she's going to die very soon, she's going to leave me all alone and she's all I've got, she's all I've got left Lucy.
I might wear and okay face with a fake smile on everyday, but inside I'm dying, is not all okay. I feel like my heart is being eaten up slowly inside.
I do understand what you're going through, honestly, but you could have done things differently.
I'm not judging you, but I'm just saying," I said sadly with my eyes full of tears.
I suddenly felt to urge and need to be in somebody's arms for comfort.
"Oh...I'm sorry, but what exactly is wrong with your mom, what do you mean by she's gonna die soon?" She asked look concerned.
I didn't know how to tell her or if I should, I didn't think she was someone I could count on or trust to keep a secret.
"She's... She's got cancer, she's got cancer Lucy, and she's going die on me soon," I cried.
She looked at me in disbelief as tears began to roll down her chicks.
Before I realized it, she was hugging me tightly and was massaging my back to calm me down.
Her hug was so comforting.
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, I didn't know.
Is okay now, everything is going to be okay," I cried more as she said that, it was so hurtful and wicked.
But it was nice of her to comfort me this way. Maybe she wasn't so bad after all.
"I'm sorry things didn't work out with you and Jason because of me, I didn't mean to come between you two," I apologized to her sincerely.
"Naa...is cool.
Jason was one thing I didn't have and probably ever have that made me so happy and alive, but it wasn't your fault.
I've been trying to make him like me for years now but he's just not really into me.
And the only reason he dated me was because of you, he was afraid of getting hurt by you and afraid of hurting you too, so I thought to take advantage of the situation.
I guess we were never meant to be," she said smiling sadly.
Now I could tell she was being honest with me.
"Maybe he didn't deserve someone as amazing as you, you truly deserve better, trust me," I said smiling hopefully at her.
"Hahaha, that's what they all say. But maybe you're right after all, I've already loosed one of my best friend because of him, maybe including you to this wasn't my best idea yet, I should have been nicer to you earlier, I'm really sorry, if there's anything I can do to help you and your mom, just let me know okay," she said so sweetly. I Seriously can't believe this part of Lucy I was seeing, but I must admit I liked it a lot.
"Actually...there is, can you give me a ride? And I promise to keep this whole thing of the a secret," I said taking my hand forward to shake hers.
"Of course you were going to keep it a secret, I would literally kill you if anyone finds out about us too," she said with a serious face that scared me. Then to my surprise she bursted out in laughter which I joined in moments later.
"Got you...but seriously, no one can find out," she said with a sweet side smile as she took my hand and we headed for her car.
************
"We're here," she said as she parked the car at the address I had described to her.
"Thank you so much for the ride, it really meant a lot to me," I said humbly in a hurry.
"Don't mention it...what are you here for at this time anyway," she asked curiously.
"Emmi! Finally, you're late, what took you so long. There's a lot of orders and dishes to wash, you need to get started right away," it was my boss. he must have seen me coming out of the car, and maybe thought the driver was Tyler.
She stood in shock when he saw Lucy who was also in shock probably because of what she just heard.
"I work here," I said nervously and regretfully.
She looked at me with pity and shock, but it didn't border me that much.
I loved working here, but it only gets more stressful each day.
She looked at me with pity and shock.
I looked at my boss again and he gave me a sign that I should get to work.
I looked at Lucy who was still in shock.
"Thank you for tonight," I said smiling at her.
"Is okay, what are friends for," she said with a bright smile. It really touched that she considers us as friends now.
"Wait, how are you going to get home, who's going to drive you?" She asked with concern.
"Hahaha, you don't need to worry about that, Tyler will pick me up after work, thanks again," I said smiling happily at her.
She nodded and waited for me to go inside the shop before she leaves. And a thought came to me, she deserved more than a
'Thank you,'.
I ran back to her and gave her the most inviting and appreciative hug I had ever given anyone. And to see the surprised look in her eyes, I think she was actually about to cry.
"Thank you...friend," I said as I released her from the hug. I looked at her face to see her eyes were filling up with tears.
I finally smiled at her and left.
Now things were beginning to get good between Lucy and I.
I had Tyler by my side. But on the other side, I was loosing mom, my relationship with Emma has officially gone bunkers, and worst of all, Jason was still nowhere to be found.
It was like the amount of bad things happening to me is exceeding the amount of good things happening to me. But I wasn't giving up hope yet, I'm sure things will get better.
And all I have to do now is to work harder, pray more and stay true to myself.
