Three
Once school was over, I skated over to the nearby restaurant I work at. I'm a chef, so luckily I don't have to go outside. I already get bullied for the gas station, how would they react to me working at a restaurant. I sighed and rubbed my tired eyes. I also remember that I had to pay the water bill, but it would probably be a couple of days till I get it back anyways. I don't get my pay check till the end of this week.
"Percy, my boy! How was the first day of school?" My favourite person of all time asked. She was my boss, her name was Cassidy, and she was overly cheery.
"Bad. My morning went down hill before it was even steady, people are already in line for bullying me, and now things are just horrible. How many days till summer?" I asked with a raised eyebrow. She grinned at me, although I could tell she was worried.
"Well what happened this morning? Was it the gas station? I know people going there at that time of morning is a handful." She said sincerely. I continued to get ready to cook, already starting an order.
"Yeah, some drunk tried to pull something this morning and the police were called, they asked me questions around 8, so I was late to school, my teacher called me out and asked me why. I told him that I was at the police department and now there are rumours about me being a trouble maker." I vented angrily. You see, I have this weird thing, that the more mad I am, the better my food is? Well it's true.
"Well, you kinda are a trouble maker, at least you don't get arrested." Cassidy smiled gently at me. I sighed and continued to cook. This was a fancy restaurant, so I was able to learn how to cook fancy meals and stuff like this. Then when we close, I stay after to clean. Cassidy let's me blast music once everyone is out, so I get alone time,
"I feel so supported." I said sarcastically, causing her to laugh.
"Hey Perce? You mind helping serve food tonight? We had two of our waiters call in sick and we didn't have time to call in the others cause of late notice." Cassidy asked. I smiled warmly at her.
"Of course I'm willing to help. As long as no one from school comes in, I'm fine. I think they all are to broke to come here though." I smiled at her while she laughed.
"Lucky it pays well." She said and walked away, probably to clean dishes quickly. Usually we are busy around 5, so we had another hour until things got crazy.
Things were going well, no one from school, except for some kid named Grover, but he didn't seem like one of the popular kids. There was only another half an hour tulle rush hour was done, another half an hour after that and we were closing.
Well, I definitely jinxed myself, while I was serving food, Jason, Jared, Piper, and whatever girl Jared brought to the double date was there. I cringed inwardly, but I know I had to take there order right away. I grabbed a notepad and a pencil so I can write their orders.
"Hello, what can I get you guys to drink." I said, trying not to sound miserable. Piper was in a beautiful blue dress, with her hair braided over her shoulder with makeup that didn't make her look like a clown. She wasn't over dressed. The other girl had a black dress on with her hair straightened. She wore a lot of makeup compared to Piper, and looked over dressed as well. Jared was wearing a plain suit with nice dress shoes that probably costed more than my entire wardrobe. Jason though, he wore a nice dress shirt with a back jacket loosely hanging over his shoulders, his hair was ruffled, as if he tried to tame it but gave up.
After I took their drinks, I walked as quickly as I could to the kitchen and prepared their lemonades, how the hell do I make an raspberry lemonade? What the hell was that even? After I got help from the drink expert, aka, my best bud, Justin, I served the drinks.
"These better not be poisoned with fag stuff." Jared said as I served them the drinks. I tried not to dump his fruit juice all over him.
"We only add the proper ingredients, Jared. I'll come back to get your food orders in a bit." I said and stormed away, trying not to punch his annoying face. I walked back into the kitchen and sat down quietly, trying to cool down.
"Hey, what's up? Those guys out there bugging you?" Justin asked, sending a glare at the door. He was about 5 years older than me, and he was trying to start his own business.
"Yeah. They think I'm gay. Those guys decided to start picking on me, on my first day of school too. Yay to me and my horrible luck." I said sarcastically. Justin smirked at me, but still looked sympathetic. I felt bad for lying to him, because I am gay, I was just to much of a wimp to say it out loud
"I'll go and get their orders and you cook, okay? You are a way better cook than me anyways." Justin offered, but before I could argue, he was already out the door. I just washed my hands and got as many of the ingredients I could. Justin came back with the orders and I quickly started cooking, adding the spices and whatever else was needed.
"So How did they react anyways? When I didn't get their order?" I asked while Justin cleaned my used dishes.
"For the most part, they laughed, calling you wimpy, all except the blond, who looked at the kitchen door curiously. But he acted like the other doofuses. God, high schoolers these days." He said with an eye roll. I laughed,
"Do you consider me a 'high schooler'?" I asked, saying 'high schooler' the way he had when he was being annoyed.
"Nah, your cool dude, they seem pretty lame to me. Why are they considered cool anyways? Sports?" He asked. I nodded simply.
I decided that I could serve them the food, I just hope they know I cooked it. I walked out the door, carrying the four peoples plates on my arms, along with someone else's pizza they ordered. I walked away quickly, giving the pizza person their food.
I looked at the clock, finally, almost closing time. I turned off the glowing sign outside, letting everyone know we were closed, and that the people inside were the last costumers and they had to be out in 15 minutes. I smiled gratefully as the jocks were getting ready to leave.
I was in the middle of getting orders when my iPod started buzzing furiously. I excused myself and looked at my phone. Gabe was calling me. I walked outside and picked up, holding the IPod away from my ear for a moment.
"Yes Gabe? I'm at work." I said with an eye roll.
"I don't want to hear it! Get my beer and cigars, I need them in 20 minutes, I have people coming over." Gabe said, yet not hanging up yet, he wanted a reason for him to beat me up.
"Well I'm sorry, I don't have that money. I spend it on paying bills that you should be paying! Why don't you actually get a job instead of making me do everything!" I growled at him, leaning off the wall.
"You watch what you say fuck boy, get my things or else." Gabe growled, hanging up. I so badly just wanted to leave Gabe, but people think that he is some generous guy and I'm just a 5 year old that adores him.
"Fuck that." I growled, scanning my pockets for money. I had about 150. At least the guy at the liquor store gives me the stuff for free, but now I need to negotiate with a store owner to give an underage kid 3 packs of cigars. I rubbed my face and sat down, but then realized I have to tell my boss.
"Percy, everything alright?" Cassidy asked. I sighed.
"I have to go early. Gabe is having friends over and I need to get liquor and cigars for him." I sighed. She knows that I have to get the things for him, but she doesn't know that he beats me.
"Alright, are you wanting to come back later to clean or do you just want someone else to do it?" Cassidy asked kindly.
"I'll come back. I need keys though." I said, and suddenly Cassidy tossed me the keys to the place, well, the backup keys. She will need to close up. I stood up and dusted myself off, taking off my apron and cleaning my area quickly. I ran out as fast as I could, getting questioning glances before finishing paying and stuff. I grabbed my skateboard.
I walked into the liquor store and grabbed the stuff Gabe likes quickly and walked to the counter.
"What's Gabe wanting this for this time? Friends?" The guy, Mr. Santez asked. I nodded, bringing out some money, I refused not to pay him. He may be the manager of the place, but I feel to bad when I get stuff for free.
"You know this Perseus, I don't take money from you." He smiled at me. I didn't care. I put 50 on his desk and walked out with the beer. I was greeted with an unwelcoming sight.
