Thirteen

Once I gave Mrs. Smith the rings, Jason and I walked away, as if we never robbed a mall. We walked towards the tattoo place, and I had gotten papers from Cassidy for whatever tattoo I want.

"What tattoo are you wanting?" I asked with a raised eyebrow. Jason shrugged.

"We could get matching handcuffs. Mine on my right yours on your left." He shrugged. I smiled, letting it show. He was really adorable, he was red all over from embarrassment, probably realizing how cringey he sounded.

"I'd like that, cell mate." I smiled at him. He smiled back. It's sad, because I know as soon as Monday comes, he and I will act like complete strangers.

"We can put that right under the cuffs." Jason brightened at the idea, I smiled. I was setting myself up for heartbreak, but right now, I don't care, I'll let my heart break as long as I can have this time with Jason.

We walked into the building, that was lit with darker lights and chairs and junk. I still had to get my wings. "Wait, do we even have money?" I asked with a raised eyebrow. We looked each other in the eyes as laughed loudly.

"I think I do. Jared gave me some after school. It's only a couple hundred though." Jason smiled, giving me the money. I nodded.

"I'll pitch in, and I'm getting another tattoo after so I'll pay that myself." I smiled. We sat in chairs while two different people started on our tattoo's which I had drawn quickly (Imagine it yourselves). It was a rustic copper colour with chains that go up the arm a bit. The tattoo artists were shocked at my scars but didn't ask.  getting his first tattoo. "So tattoo's, Percy Jackson, I would have never thought." Jason mimicked with a smirk. It was my time to blush.

"Hey, this is my first tattoo, besides I want to piss Gabe off. He will throw a fit." I grinned and he laughed. Once the guy was done my tattoo, I took off my shirt, the guy already knew what I wanted on my back, and I told him what to expect, but he was still shocked.

"Holy shit Perce, that's bad." Jason grimaced. I shrugged slightly.

"Healing. Accidents suck." I said. I wasn't going to explain my entire backstory to strangers. Jason nodded with me, and luckily he understood what I meant.

"Your such a clumsy person." Jason played along. It was silent, Jason's tattoo was finished, and he was just waiting for mine to be done, which had three people getting it done, because they obviously just wanna go home. They finished up quickly. Now, I had a white angle wing with lush feathers on my right side, then on my left side the feathers were withering away, and under it, it said

'You have to fall before you can fly'

"That's a really cool tattoo." Jason smiled as we walking out after paying. My wallet was empty now, eh, still have what's at home and I got paid today.

"Thanks. What are you going to tell your mom about these?" I asked, holding up my wrist of the handcuffs with 'cell mate' engraved into it. They were beautiful to say the least.

"I'll just tell her it's an inside joke." Jason smiled and my heart fluttered. I had to resist the urge to hold his hand.

"As long as we don't get caught, we should be good." I smiled at him. He draped an arm around my shoulder casually, and I blushed. I elbowed him in the ribs lightly.

"If we get caught my mom would freak and my sister would have to come visit. What if we get caught and they find out we don't have the rings?" Jason asked seriously, looking down at me.

"Well if we told them that we were forced, that wouldn't work well, cause Gabe has his friends, he knows how to get what he wants. And if it's out of jail, then so be it. Besides, last time he got out of jail, things didn't go well." I said, remembering how he assaulted me. I shivered lightly at the thought.

"You don't have to talk about it. So my mom thinks I'm staying at Jared's." Jason laughed lightly. I knew I was going to so regret what I was about to say.

"You could stay at my place. It ain't great but it's something. Gabe is gone and I got the apartment to myself." I offered. Jason grinned, suddenly grabbing my hand, no, he is straight, just some nerves thing, right? Yeah, has to be.

"If you want, we can invite some of your better friends like Leo, Leo is cool." I shrugged. Jason raised an eyebrow at me.

"What? I thought Jared got him to beat you up? Jared had called Leo and asked him to come over and beat you." Jason said worriedly.

"Nah, he ain't that type of guy. He came and talked with me a bit and he said I was a pretty cool dude. I was so honoured." I joked. Jason smiled tightly, which confused me, was he mad or something?

"Yeah, I was confused when he said he would do it. I'm just glad that he didn't hurt you." Jason relaxed a bit, but I was the defeated look in his eyes that he tried to cover up. I decided to ignore it.

"So you wanting to come over? I have some beer if you want." I shrugged, probably not the best thing to start with, but whatever.

"Yeah sure." Jason nodded with a smile, and he turned back to his normal, carefree self again. I sighed, it's sad how I know I'll never be his.

"Wait, doesn't Jared think your going over? If your mom thought you were going." I pondered. Jason frowned suddenly, but then shrugged.

"Yeah, we had planned staying at his place, but then I heard the dumpster moving and decided to check it out. I decided whatever dumb shit you were doing would be better than his. All he talks about really is girls he wants to knock up." Jason rolled his eyes.

"Why do you hang out with him then?" I asked as he and I walked into my apartment, which reeked of alcohol and blood. I cringed, but Jason didn't seem to mind, he just started to clean up a bit.

"Because, I feel like I have to. I've been friends with him for so long, and picking up and leaving just seems like a bitch move." Jason shrugged, but the look on his face seemed sad, lonely.

"I get that, I do." I nodded, and we cleaned the apartment, him turning on his music because he would hate mine, although I listen to a lot, mainly NF and nightcore.

"Wanna go to the roof?" Jason asked after we finished cleaning, and damn it looked so much better, I almost didn't recognize it.

"Sure, want me to grab the beer?" I asked and he nodded. We went up the fire escape, sitting on the edge of the roof in silence.
