(Devin Pov)

I sit in my apartment at my kitchen table going through the files for Chanel I don't know why but I couldn't get her out of my head Its like she just had something about her.

There was a knock at my door.

I looked at my phone it was eight thirty in the evening.

"Who could this be I said as I got up still dressed in my black t-shirt and blue jeans from earlier.

I answered the door and immediately regret not asking who it was as my eye landed on my ex Jasmine.

"What do you want?" I stood in front of my door.

"I just came by to say I'm sorry and I want you back."

"You wanted the separation and I gave you that." I said shaking my head.

"Baby I want us to work." she pleaded I could smell the alcohol on her breath.

"Look I have the election and a lot of other things to focus on right now I gave you what you wanted so please just go." I said firmly.

She looked at me.

"Are you fucking someone else behind my back again Devin."

I don't have time for this I said as I shut the door in her face.

(Chanel pov)

"Boy are you crazy skippin school!"
(belt sound)

"I wasn't skippin.."

"Shut up!"
(belt sound)

"Dad, please stop!" Cody cried.

(Belt sound)

"From now on you stay away from that school."

That was all I heard the sound of Cody getting a whoopin. As I sat in my room on my laptop trying to watch a movie on Netflix.

I was looking at my phone as I was waiting to see if Devin found out any information about my older sister Miracle.

I heard a room door open.

"Also you're grounded until further notice!" My dad said loudly.

I went back to watching the movie on the laptop when I saw Cody at my door.
he was in a t-shirt and pj pants I noticed his nose was red.

"What did you do?" I asked.

He walked over to my bed.

"I went to eat lunch with Thomas and dad caught me."

I shook my head.

"Mom and dad said not to go over there."

My phone started to ring.

I looked at Cody and he looked at me.

I answered.

"Hello, I said.

"Hey Chanel I found out something about Miracle."

It was Devin.

"What did you find out when can we meet her?" I felt excited.

It was silent for a moment.

"Does she not want to meet us?"I asked.

"It's not that she doesn't want to meet its that she can't meet you."

I was confused.

"What do you mean?"

There was another pause.

"She was a stillborn she died seventeen years ago."

"Hey, mom." Cody said.

I looked and seen mom standing at my door.

I promptly pressed the red button.

"Who was that?" mom asked.

"It was Melody." I lied.

"Oh ok, I just came by to tell you lights out by ten."

She said and then walked back into the hallway.
