Hoka yawned, currently in a teacher's meeting.

"You okay?" Hibana asked, glancing over at her.

"Yeah, just ain't been sleeping much recently. Side effect of having a moth quirk, I suppose...."

As the meeting progressed, Nezu turned to Hoka, saying "Morikaga, that reminds me. I believe you should work on getting an official teaching licence."

"Huh? Why? Aren't I only-"

"Substituting for Aizawa, I know. However, I get the feeling you'll want it in the future."

Hoka huffed, thinking for a moment.... Well, technically, she has had the class longer than Aizawa. Plus, it's not like she'd trust anyone else with Class 1A.

"Fine, fine." She finally responded. "Only because I don't want anyone messing with my kids."

Silence. Hoka looked up, catching the expressions on the other teachers faces.

".... What?"

"Your what?" Mic asked.

"My kids?"

"Hm?"

"My-"

Her wings fluttered, face lighting up red.

"STUDENTS. MY STUDENTS. THEY'RE NOT MY KIDS!"

.

Hoka watched as her students came in, sighing.

"Morning, class. Now then-"

Her mind screeched to a halt as she noticed the bruise that was blooming across the face of one of her students. Of Akemi.

"Igarashi," She said, getting her attention. "What happened to your face?"

Akemi went to her seat, shrugging.

"I ran into a tree."

"A tree did that to your face?"

"Yes. Let it go."

"It's bruising."

"It was a strong tree."

Hoka frowned. Personally, a good majority of her early hero career takedowns involved children in bad situations. She herself, well.... She knows what being hurt is like.

....

Which is how she got here, stealthily following her student home. No, she's not stupid enough to go alone, so she dragged along-

"Why the hell did you call me here?"

"Shut up, Hitoshi."

"She said she ran into a tree."

"I know, Hitoshi."

"So, why are you worrying?"

"Because I do, Hitoshi!"

Hitoshi sighed, gripping his capture scarf. The two slowly followed Akemi from the rooftops, remaining at a safe distance.

"I just want to make sure everything is fine." Hoka muttered. "I don't need another Tomura Shigaraki."

Hitoshi raised an eyebrow, smirking.

"What's that look for?"

"Nothing," He responded, shaking his head. "Just.... You sound so much like Aizawa right now."

Hoka scoffed, saying "Yeah, well.... The old man taught me well."

The two stopped on a rooftop, watching Akemi enter an apartment. Hitoshi sighed, glancing over at Hoka. Everyone at their old class from UA knew what happened between Hoka and her parents by now, and even then, it still circulated around with the classes at UA currently. Even the current class 1A had heard whispers of her past.

Hitoshi himself only learned the story after Hoka had graduated from UA, and even then, it took a while for her to be honest about it. After everything, he knew that any case like this one hits close to home....

"She's fine, Hoka." Hitoshi said.

"You don't know that."

"I know that you're obsessing over this and it's getting ridiculous. If and when she needs help, you'll know-"

A crash from a few streets over caught their attention. Hitoshi sighed, adjusting his voice changer.

"Come on," He said. "We have work to do. The kid will be fine."

Hoka gave one last glance, before nodding. Just in case, she'd leave a few moth scales.

*Fast forward to a few hours later....*

Hoka had a criminal pinned under her foot, the woman stretching, her back letting out a few pops.

"Hitoshi, how's it looking?" She asked, glancing over.

"That's all of them." He responded, handing a criminal to the police.

"Good. Now, let's-"

Hoka froze. Her wings pulsed, the red in them flushing in an instant. Something felt wrong. Very, very wrong. What was happening? Was Hitoshi saying something? Last she remembered-

Something snapped in her at that moment, and in seconds, she was in the air, making a beeline for Akemi's home. That's it. That's what's wrong. Someone's hurting her. Someone's hurting her kid. Someone's hurting her nestling.

She barely registered anything until Hitoshi's capture scarf wrapped around her, stopping her when she was only a few feet away.

"HOKA!" He shouted. "Calm down!"

Hoka glanced at him, and Hitoshi shuddered.

"What?"

"As nice as storming in without a plan would be-"

He couldn't finish as smoke filled his vision, Hoka slipping free. And as soon as she got to the front door of the apartment, she let out a low hiss, smoke flooding the space around her.

And that's when all hell broke loose.

*Later on....*

Nezu sat in his office, sipping on some tea. One, the tea was really good. Two, he was trying so hard not to laugh. Across from him, on one side, was Akemi Igarashi's parents. On the other, was Akemi herself, with Hoka sitting between her and her parents. Akemi had bruises around her arms and the one on her face seemed to have worsened. Hoka herself looked ready to snap at the other two adults at a moment's notice.

Truly, a fascinating situation.

"First off, let me say this wasn't how I expected my night to go." Nezu started. "Now, before anything else, I just want to make sure I'm hearing this all correctly.... Miss Morikaga here 'broke' into your apartment, within all legal reasons. She then caught you beating your daughter-"

"Educating-" Akemi's father tried to cut in, Nezu silencing him with a sharp look.

"Beating your daughter, and released a bunch of smoke. Akemi panicked and ran outside where Mr. Shinso kept her away from everything, while she put you two in your places."

"You mean assaulted us!" Akemi's mother snapped. "That so-called hero attacked us completely without reason!"

Hoka growled, saying "So hurting my student wasn't within reason? Right. Okay. So, next time, I'll feed you to my moths. Gotcha."

"You bitch-"

"Enough." Nezu cut them off. "So, seeing as how this situation is terribly chaotic.... Morikaga, Akemi will be your ward until further notice. Mr. and Mrs. Igarashi, let's speak for a moment."

As soon as Hoka and Akemi stepped out Nezu's office, the latter turned to face her teacher.

"Why?" She demanded.

"Why what?" Hoka questioned.

"Why did you do that?!" She yelled. "You have absolutely no obligation to help me! It was none of your business-"

"It became my business when you started showing up to heroics classes already injured." Hoka cut her off. "As your teacher, and as a hero, I have a duty to watch over my students. Damn anything else that happens.... Now, come on."

"What the- WHERE ARE WE GOING?!"

"To go pack your shit. You're living with me now."
