So It's A Sequel Now!
I didn't actually plan on this becoming a sequel, but @DogsWithHeadphones demanded a sequel so I'm giving them a sequel :) I hope you enjoy!
*Dean's POV*
2 years have passed since we've moved into my dad's old hunting cabin. My worst anxieties were that my dad would come back to use it or I'd somehow get found, but so far neither have happened and we're all quite happy here. Part of me wants to just assume the worst is over and I can move on with my life soon, but the other part of me knows that nothing lasts forever, and there's always a calm before a storm, this is what that could be. The calm before the chaos. I can't let what happened last time happen again. I can't get to comfortable, I have to keep my guard up, if I let it down.... No, I shouldn't think like that. It's done. We're safe. We're somewhat free. That was the past.
Right?
There's snow falling outside, reminding us that fall is gone. It's been Winter for awhile, since it's mid-December. It's been getting colder outside both in the weather and the people. People can be so cold-hearted. For some reason the Novaks do allow me to travel outside when I go with them. I just wear a beanie to cover my ears and I hide my tail. It's uncomfortable, but not hard. We don't leave very often so it's safe enough and we buy things in bulk so it's pretty nice.
"Dean!" Cas opened the door to the room we share, interrupting my staring contest with the outside world, "Gabe and I were looking in the attic and look what we found!" He said enthusiastically while holding up two pairs of ice skates.
"Nice!" I say as I get up from the desk to get a better look, "think your feet could fit in these?" I ask jokingly holding up the bigger pair that used to be my dad's.
"Oh God no, but I know for a fact your ginormous feet can. This pair is mine." He said lifting the pair my mom used to use.
"Okay fair enough" suddenly an idea popped into my head "hey Cas," I wait for him to look at me with his curious eyes "I'll race you to the lake. Winner picks the losers' punishment." He smiles at me with competition in his eyes God I love him.
"You're on." He says with his grin widening.
We start running as fast as we can down the path to the lake, laughing like maniacs the entire time. I was about to win when I felt hands wrap around my waist and a force behind me caused me to fall. We never stopped laughing. I turned in Castiel's arms to face him, his arms still around me. "Hmm" I start, "I think that's cheating so therefore I win." He rolls his eyes at me.
"If anything it's a tie, we're both in the same place."
I scoot a little forward, moving carefully and slowly to not hurt Castiel's arms, "no, I'm ahead of you. I win." I say with a smirk.
"Oh so you're gonna play it like that?" He asked with a smirk.
"Mmm, no, no, I'm not." I say with a pondering look, making Castiel confused, I push Castiel over so I'm on top of him, "I'm gonna play it like this." I lean down as if I were gonna kiss him, but when our lips were mere centimeters apart I took off running I'm gonna regret that later. I cross my finish line. I made it. I jump up and down in victory as Cas just walked over to me.
"Just couldn't take your loss, could you?" Cas asked with a smile on his face. I know he was a little disappointed though, just a little.
"I won fair and square Mr. Grumpy Face." I say teasingly, sitting on a nearby log to take my shoes off. However that was interrupted by Castiel sitting on my lap, straddling me.
"Mr. Grumpy Face says you have to pay the toll for running away and not kissing me." He said tapping his lips twice. I give him a smile and give him a kiss. The snow and the scenery makes everything perfect. This whole situation could not feel more like a dream, these past two years have been a dream come true. I have my dream man, my dream family, my dream home. And it doesn't end, not even when Castiel pulls away from me with a satisfied grin. He sits next to me, leaving my lap cold. "Your toll has been paid." We give each other a smile and put our ice skates on. We skate around the pond slowly and carefully, since someone hasn't ever done this before.... No it's not me. Cas clung to me for dear life, or he'd make you believe. I just laughed as we'd slowly move around the pond, his legs shaking, trying to remain steady. His eyes never left mine though, he trusted me to lead us both around the pond safely, it was quiet, peaceful, not a sound to disturb us. Not until I heard a sound. A sound so faint yet terrifying, I hoped it was my imagination, but the repeat of the sound made it clear it was not my imagination. Cas must have sensed my fear cause he started looking around as if someone were going to show up. It was getting closer. I turn Cas around and suddenly push him as hard as I can out of the way, he ended up sliding to the edge of the lake, good. It's here. Crack. And I fell.
It was my own fault, in the end. I should have checked the ice, why didn't I think to check the ice? We would've been safe if I checked the ice. I swam up to the surface freezing, I felt even colder as I pulled myself out of the water, and crawled onto land. The winter wind immediately surrounding me, making me curl up into myself. Next thing I knew I had a worried Cas at my side, calling my name, at least, I assume he's calling my name. I can feel my systems start shutting down when I feel myself being lifted and I can hear Cas talking to me, I don't know what he's saying, everything sounds like distorted, like I'm under water. He's not exactly carrying me, I don't think he's that strong, but my arm is around his shoulder and my feet are barely working, probably just enough to keep us up. I'm trying to pay attention to the words he's saying as if they're the most interesting thing I've ever heard, but what I hear makes no sense ". .Almost . . . Don't . . . Know . . . Fall . . Home . . You. . . Lose. . . . ." That last word triggered something in me that I didn't think would happen. I had more determination. More than ever to at least make it home.
I ended up making it, not just to the house, but to our room. Naturally the other Novaks asked questions, but Cas said he'd explain later and right now he had to help me. The second my back hit the mattress I was out like a light.
**Castiel's POV**
Dean pushed me to the edge of the lake very suddenly, which made me nervous, I turned around just in time to watch the ice crack underneath him and he disappeared into the lake. "DEAN!" I shouted. Just then he shot up, out of the lake, clawed his way out of the lake and onto the shore, I took my skates off as fast as I could, at least the paths here are grass and not gravel. I ran to Dean, I had to see if he was alright. I picked him up and wrapped his arm around my shoulder, his legs seemed barely strong enough to hold him up, hopefully they can last back to the house. At least it's a straight-shot there and isn't a long or hard walk. I still talk to him though, just to make sure he doesn't pass out on me "We're almost there, Dean. Don't worry. I know I probably shouldn't say that since we just left, but, just, don't fall on me, okay? Please make it home. I can't lose you. Not again." I swear something changed in him, not physically, but I swear it's like he was concentrating harder on every tiny movement he made. He wasn't walking exactly, his legs were probably far too numb to move them, he was more like he was dragging his legs with purpose. John would probably kill Dean for what his skates were going through right now if he knew.
We made it to the house with Dean becoming weaker and weaker every second we kept going. I knew it wasn't long before he'd be completely unconscious. I opened the front door and had the heat of the house rush into us. Oh how wonderful Dean would feel if he could right now. We passed my family who was of course worried, but I told them I'd explain later as I didn't have time to explain now. We went into our shared room and I put him on the bed, the second he laid down he must've lost his consciousness. "Don't worry Dean, I know what to do." I took off his skates and all of his wet clothes and all of mine. The fastest way to warm up a human body is with another human body.
I covered us with blankets and cuddled myself around the left side of his cold body which must've felt nice to his cold skin. My hand was over his heart, his pulse was slow, but steady. He'd make it. It wasn't too long before his heart rate improved and he regained consciousness. He took a sudden deep breath and parted his eyes as he looked at me "hey gorgeous." I said with a smile on my face.
"Hey beautiful," he said quietly with a grin on his face, "how are you?" He asked in all seriousness.
"I've been better," I sighed, "y'know what I think?" I asked staring into his eyes. He hummed in curiosity, "I think this was karma. You refused to admit you lost the race so you fell." He gave a slight chuckle turning his head away, but just for a second.
"Is that what happened?" He asked, obviously as a joke, but I nodded enthusiastically.
"Yeah, you refused to take the loss, nature knew you lost so it decided your punishment for you."
"Okay, Mr. Winner Winner Chicken Dinner, if you're so sure you won, what's going to be your punishment for me?" He looked deep into my eyes, knowing I didn't have anything thought up. My face dropped for a half second, but I quickly caught myself. I know exactly what to do.
"Let's wait another hour just in case, but I have a pretty nice way to warm up." I said with a smirk.
"Oh do you now?" He leaned forward to kiss me, to which I happily returned
~~~
"Okay, I know you said 'a nice way to warm up' and all that, but this?" Dean asked looking puzzled at me.
"Why not?"
"Cas you can't be serious."
"Come on Deanie-beanie, what's the matter with this?"
"It's yoga! I'm not doing yoga at 3 in the morning with you! I'm going back to bed." Dean said flopping down on the mattress. I sat next to where he laid and took his hand in mine, rubbing circles on the back of his hand with my thumb.
"But Deanie you lost and you let me pick the punishment. Yoga isn't even that bad!"
"Cas the last time we did yoga together I barely made it through the warm ups."
"Pleaase?" I begged, doing the best puppy dog face I could muster. Sam would be proud of me.
"Okay, but we do it tomorrow." He said pulling me into a kiss. I smile and put my hands on his neck as his went to the sides of my face, where they belong.
"Goodnight Cas. I love you."
"Goodnight Dean. I love you too."
Sorry this took so long, life got a bit hectic, especially cause I moved! I live in an apartment now! That's different. Okay byyee
