Chapter 6
Alex's POV
I wake up the next morning feeling relaxed and refreshed. I sit up, and look around. Oh yeah, I'm at Chad's.
I check the clock, it's nine. Chad and Fallon are probably awake, but I won't disturb them. I turn on some Disney Channel, and chill for a while.
At about 10, there's a knock on my door. "Come in," I call, turning the volume down slightly.
Chad walks in, "Hey kid." I smile, "Hey."
"Whatcha watching?" He asks, making himself comfy on my bed. "Just some Austin&Ally, Whats up?"
He frowns, "Alex, the government wants to put you into foster care-" I cut him off, "Please don't! I've been there before and it's terrible." He places his hand on my shoulder, "Calm down! Fallon and I talked about it, and we thought it'd be cool to just adopt you."
I begin crying, tears of joy, this is the best thing ever! I'm glad I don't live with Matt, and I'm glad I'm not in foster care.
Chad looks hurt, "Do you not like that idea?" I shake my head, "Chad, I'm just so happy. I'd love to live with you guys!"
He hugs me, and I hug him back. "Thank you," is all I can muster before crying again.
I'm gonna have a real family, wait, scratch that, I have a real family. Chad, Fallon, and the rest of the guys (and girls) have been more of a family than my family ever was.
"Do you want some breakfast?" Chad asks. I nod, "Oh, let me tell you something. That's not a question, I will always want breakfast. Got it?" I ask him.
He smile, "You got it, dude!" I laugh, "Somebody's been watching a little too much Full House." Chad grins, "You've caught me!"
We head downstairs where Fallon appears to be making waffles.
"Yes! Waffles!" Chad cheers, sitting on a stool. I giggle, sitting next to him.
"Hurry up, woman!" Chad says to Fallon. "Patience, young man," Fallon says, giving me my waffles first. I turn to Chad and stick out my tongue. "You're real mature," he murmurs.
Fallon joins us with plates for herself and Chad. "What's on today's agenda?" I ask mid-bite. "Chad has band stuff. You and I are going to your new school to fill out paper work," Fallon says. I smile, today sounds fun. I finish my waffles and put my plate in the sink, "I'll be back."
I dash upstairs to change my clothes. I decide on yoga pants, a baggy t-shirt, and converse. It's kinda chilly out so I grab a sweatshirt before going back downstairs.
"Ready?" Fallon asks, smiling. "Yeah, girl, let's do this!" We get into her car, and she begins driving. "Your school is called Hope Academy, it's a private school," Fallon informs me. "Cool!" I exclaim.
I miss school so much! It might be weird, or lame to say that, but it's true! Before too long Fallon's parking the car in front of a humongous building. The size of it is intimidating, but I don't let her notice.
I happily skip inside, with Fallon begin me. We ring the buzzer and the secretary lets us in. "Hi, I'm Miss Cook, how may I help you?" She asks. "I'm Fallon Graham, here to pick up paperwork," Fallon answers. "Ah, yes, Ms. Graham here it is. Have a nice day," Miss Cook says as we leave.
"We'll stop by Starbucks and fill these out, then back home," Fallon plans. "Sounds like a plan, Stan!" I exclaims. We both laugh the whole way to Starbucks.
We order out drinks, and find a cozy table to sit at. Fallon pulls the papers out of her bag. "Hmmmm," she sighs, looking them over. "What's wrong?" I ask peeking over at the papers. "We'll have to wait until we adopt you to fill these out." I frown, "Why?" Fallon answers, "Well you see, sweetie, we have to have your birth certificate, immunization records, insurance, everything!"
I pat her shoulder, "Fallon, it's okay, everything will get worked out." She attempts to smile, "Let's just go home." I help her gather the papers back up, we grab our drinks and go to the car.
We enter the house, and she throws her purse on the kitchen counter. "I'll be in my room if you need me. Chad should be home soon." I nod and decide to play on my phone. While I'm doing that, it rings.
I answer it, "Hello?" A rugged voice on the other end greets me, "Alex?" Okay, this just got creepy. "Uh, yes," I say, still scared. "Alex, kid, I'm so glad to hear from you!" He says. "Logan?" I ask. "Yes," he says. Oh my gosh, it's my brother! "I've missed you so much! How did you even find my number?" I practically scream into the phone. "I've been checking the cell phone directory for years! So where are you living now?" He asks, changing the subject. "I'm currently living with Chad & Fallon Graham, they're hoping to adopt me." I can tell he's smiling, "That's great kiddo! I've got to go, call you soon." I try to keep myself from crying, "Love you, Logie." He sighs, "Love you too, Alex." Then the line goes dead.
I cry tears of sadness and of joy at the same time. My brother still cares for me, my brother still cares for me!
Chad must've come in while I was on the phone, because he is now sitting on the couch eating an apple. "Who was on the phone, kid?" He asks, taking another bite. "My brother," I say casually. Chad stares at me in disbelief, "The one you lost contact with?!" I smile," yep!"
I sit next to him, he still looks shocked. "How did he find you?" Chad asks. I shrug, "Beats me! But I'm glad he did!" Chad looks at me, "I'm glad too, but are you sure you can trust him?"
