Chapter 2
I look around the room, and squeal in delight! Purple is my favorite color and I've always wanted a bedroom that color.
I glance over and see a few things were placed in here for me already. There's a clock radio, a stereo, and a small TV with a DVD player. I begin unpacking, putting clothes in the closet as well as my dresser.
I pull a small, pink bunny out of my bag. This bunny was given to me by my older brother. He genuinely cared about me, and gave me this before my family disowned me. I place it neatly on the bed by all the throw pillows.
Once I've gotten everything pretty much how I like it, I walk downstairs. Chad pauses his video game, and looks up at me, "Anything you didn't bring, Fallon will take you to the store to pick out."
I smile, "Thanks, but I'm good for now."
"I hope you don't mind, but I invited my bandmates over to meet you."
I shrug, "I'd love to meet them." Chad pats the couch next to him, "Sit."
I sit next to him, and he grabs my hands. "I'm sorry you were in that kind of relationship, but tell me why you're like on your own."
I've never told this to anybody before, but here it goes. "My family disowned me. I was 11, and they said I ate too much, and was growing too fast. My parents practically threw me into the streets. My brother tried to save me, but they moved across the country. I haven't been able to track my brother down, I'm suspecting they changed his name.I was put in the foster care system, and I was there until I turned 13. I met Matt, he convinced his auntie to "adopt" me. Matt paid for my apartment, bought me clothes, and my computer. Recently, he's gotten worse, always drunk, and always abusing me. I knew if I broke up with him I'd be back on the streets." I wipe some tears off of my face.
"Come here," Chad says. He wraps his arms around me, in the biggest hug ever. "I'm sorry," he says. We both let go, and he uses his thumb to brush some of my tears away, "I wish I could've helped you earlier."
"Chad, this isn't your fault, it's mine." He frowns, "It's not yours either. Your parents shouldn't have done that to you. I'll admit, I don't know what that feels like, and I can't imagine it. God knows what it's like."
I smile a bit, "You mean like Jesus?" Chad nods, smiling a bit. "Oh Chad, please don't! My parents were atheists, not my brother though. He kept telling me about Jesus."
"Y'know just because your parents were doesn't mean you have to be," Chad says. I nod, thinking of my brother.
The doorbell rings, and Chad springs up, "That's my bandmates." I wait on the couch while he gets the door.
The house suddenly gets like 10 times louder. Chad, and three other guys enter the room. They all smile, and wave when they see me.
I get up, and walk over to where they are. "Hey."
They all smile, "Hey back." Chad steps in front to introduce us. "Alex, this is Alan, Caleb, and Joey. Guys, Alex." I go down the line shaking their hands, they all greet me with 'it's nice to meets you's'.
"What do we do now?" Joey asks the group. Alan shrugs, "Pizza?" The other guys nod, and I find myself nodding with them. "It's been forever since I've had pizza!" I call out.
Alan, and Caleb look at me shocked. "Then pizza it is!" Caleb pumps his fist into the air. "Should we pick it up, or have it delivered?" Alan asks. "Pick it up, more if an adventure," Joey shrugs.
"We're taking two vehicles, ride with whoever you're comfortable with, kid," Alan says. I didn't realize he was talking to me, until the 'kid' part. "I'd like to ride with Chad," I whisper.
"Chad's taking his car, and Caleb's riding with him. I'm sure you could tag along." He points to Chad's car. I quickly thank him, and walk over, getting in the front seat. Caleb, however, doesn't care. He must sense my closeness to Chad.
Caleb tries to make small talk with me, but his efforts fail. Not that he doesn't seem cool, I've just been leery around guys lately. Chad's sort of an exception, he saved me. The ride is pretty much silent.
