Chapter 16

"When?" Chad whispers. Brycie shrugs, "We have to catch him when he least expects it."

"When will that be?" Joey asks. "I don't know, Joseph," Caleb says. "Guys, somebody has to distract him," I point out.

We're currently planning on shoving blue cupcakes in Alan's face. Only Alan doesn't know, so it'll be a total shock.

"Alex, you take Presley and AJ with you, and talk to him," Fallon says. Kelsey nods, "He'll be distracted for sure."

I grab the girls' hands, and walk over to where Alan is. "Hi," I say. "Hey beautiful," Alan says. He lifts both of the girls into his lap, and I sit next to him.

As the four of us are discussing who is better, Anna and Elsa, everybody comes up and smashes a cupcake in Alan's face. I snap a picture of this glorious moment.

"Girls, were you in on this?" Alan asks his daughters. They giggle and nod. Alan rolls his eyes, as he walks off to the bathroom.

"Caleb, Joey, Chad can I talk to you guys?" I ask them. Caleb smiles, "Sure, let's go upstairs."

We all follow Caleb upstairs to a room, and sit down. "What is it, Alex?" Joey asks.

I sigh, "Guys, I've been thinking about what you all have told me. I want to get saved." I say that last part quietly.

Chad smiles, "Awesome!" Joey hugs me, "I'm proud of you." Caleb grins like a maniac.

Alan joins us, and he has a Bible. "Alex, repeat after me," he says. I nod ready to repeat him.

"Dear Heavenly Father,

I know I've made mistakes. Forgive me for my sins. Come into my heart. I want to follow you. I will listen for your call, and watch for your coming. Love you!

Amen."

I repeat exactly what Alan said. As soon as I do, I have this feeling come over me, one I've never felt before. I smile, this feeing is the best.

Alan reads a few verses from his Bible, and Caleb prays again. "I'm gonna get you a Bible," Chad promises. I smile, "Cool."

Caleb did have a trick up his sleeve. Once we're back downstairs, he shoves a pink cupcake in my face.

"Not funny," I growl. Caleb glares at me, "Yes it is."

I clean my face up, then find Caleb in the kitchen. "Caleb!" I exclaim urgently. He looks up from his Bible, and coffee. "What's wrong, kiddo?"

"Starbucks has a new coffee flavor and I have to try it!" He grins, "That's an evil trick. There's not a new Starbucks drink."

I look at him, "I'm dead serious. And they close soon." Caleb jumps up, and runs outside, only to find that his car won't start.

I make myself comfy with some hot chocolate on the couch, and watch Caleb struggle. Kelsey joins me, and together we laugh at her husband's hilariousness.

"He might start walking soon," Kelsey jokes. I laugh, "He might."

Caleb trudges back to the door and comes inside. "Kels! I need to borrow your car!" He exclaims. Kelsey and I just laugh. "What's so funny?" He asks.

"There's no new Starbucks drink, and I might've played around with your car, and loosened a few wires," I giggle. He wags his finger at me, "That wasn't nice, young lady, I will get you."

"Sure you will, Cabey!" I exclaim, running off.

I run into the other room, and sit next to Presley and AJ on the floor. "Go distract Caleb," I whisper. They just comprehend because they dash off.

I head upstairs to where Caleb and I played Mario Kart. I reset the game, so his high score is gone forever.

"There," I brush my hands together, "that oughta distract him." I also notice his phone nearby. I go into his typing shortcuts.

I replace there with their, they're with there, and their with they're. Then I switch around too, to, and to. I also switch than and then. I laugh to myself thinking about how mad he'll be. I carefully place his phone exactly the way it was.

I walk downstairs, and see Kelsey searching through the movies. "Hey Alex! We're gonna watch The Little Mermaid." I smile, "Cool."

Everybody soon floods into the room. I seat myself between Chad and Alan. I lean my head on Chad's shoulder.

"Hey darling," he whispers. I smile, "Hey." The movie starts, and I think about how much fun it would be to be a mermaid. I'd love it so much!

Caleb pauses the movie and holds his phone in the air. "Guys! I keep making grammatical errors!" He exclaims in agony. "Too bad. Now move your face so that I can continue my movie," Chad remarks.

Caleb reluctantly sits down, but I know he won't let this go. Kelsey presses play, and we continue our movie-without interruptions.

"Who wants food?" Fallon asks. Everybody's hands shoot up in the air. We all get a Frozen plate, each plate has a different character.

"I got Olaf!" Joey exclaims excitedly. "Yes! Kristoff!" Alan exclaims. "Anna," Kelsey says. "Sven," Caleb says smiling. "Elsa!" Fallon exclaims. Brycie and AJ also got Anna, and Presley and I have Elsa. "I got Hans," Chad says, clearly confused.

"That suits your personality," I laugh. Chad cries, "Not nice, Alex, not nice."

We eat pizza and ice cream, laughing about various things the entire time. I'm so glad I have a family like this, I know that they all care about me, and I can always count on them.

"Play dolls with us," Avery and Presley ask us. "Sure, I'll play let's go baby girl," Alan picks up AJ and Brycie gets Presley.

Chad and Joey look leery about it, but they agree just for the girls. We each have a different doll, and we play with the girls for a while.

"I'm tired," Presley cries. Alan holds her close, "Okay, baby girl, do you want me to sing to you?"

Presley and AJ, both nod, "Please." The guys sing Let It Go softly, so it's more like a lullaby. They both fall asleep in Alan's arms.

Chad and Caleb each take a child, and take them upstairs. I follow, just to see what they do. They lay the girls down, and cover them up with their blankets. They each kiss the girls' foreheads. "Night princess," Caleb says, leaving the room.

I smile, he's so amazing. One day, he'll be a great father.

"Alex, were you spying?" Caleb asks with a mischievous grin. I smirk, "Uh no!"

I try to run away, but Chad lifts me into the air. "You're not going anywhere, young lady," he says. I smile, "Chaddy, put me down!" Caleb smirks, "No! He's working for me now!"

"What? You were on my side," I sigh. "Caleb was clearly winning so I switched sides," Chad laughs.

"I hate you," I mumble through clenched teeth. "Watch who you're talking to, I know where you live!" Chad exclaims.

Chad sets me down, and I take off running. "Two against one, no fair," I whine, sitting down next to Fallon. "What's not fair?" Joey asks. "Chad and Caleb teamed up against me," I pout. "I'll join your team, Alex," Joey laughs.

I get wide-eyed, "Really?!" He nods, "Yep! I'd love to beat Chad." I giggle, "Okay! At least the teams are fair now!"

"Guys, it's late, and there is church tomorrow," Alan reminds us. I yawn, "Yeah, I am getting kinda tired."

I stagger to the bathroom, and put on my pajamas. They're white, and have green and purple monkeys on them.

I lay down on the floor, and Chad lays my blanket on top of me. "Goodnight darling. I'm proud of the choice you made today. I love you," he says handing me my panda. I smile, "Night Chaddy, love you too!"

"Goodnight Alex!" Alan says. "Night-night Alan!" I call back. "I'll get you in the morning, kiddo," Caleb says. I laugh, "You're on, Grimm!" The girls, and Joey tell me goodnight as well.

Caleb turns off the lights, after we're all comfortable. I roll over on my little floor space and shut my eyes, excited about church tomorrow.
