Chapter - 5
'Is this just a coincidence?' Swara raised her eyelashes to look at the person standing in front of her in his glory. His thunderstorm eyes and cold voice were enough to give shudders down her spine.
For a moment she felt his dark brown eyes met with her big does ones. 'Yes, this is just a coincidence, else why a multi billionaire will marry a middle-class girl and that too in a contract marriage? But what was the need for him to do this contract? Does he know I work in his company? Hey Kanhaji please keep him hundred ... no no thousand miles away from me.'
Sound of claps brought Swara back to reality.
'I want to talk to you now. There is something urgent.' she hit the send button, messaging Nikhil.
She could feel someone's gaze on her even when she was surrounded with hundreds of people, but when she looked at him. He was busy talking with his other colleagues.
"Ohh god, he is damn sexy" Ella drooled over while moving out of auditorium after townhall.
"Yes, but he is out of reach for us. You know how he is?" Nancy sulked.
"What does that mean?" Swara asked absentmindedly.
"He is a big headache for eveyone. I mean I know he is every girl's dream boy but he is too arrogant, selfish, and rude and not to forget a workaholic. Everyone from office scares to go in his cabin. We all call it as Lion's Den." Ayesha gave brief introduction rolling her eyes.
"Come let's go to cafeteria for lunch. I need to buy something" Nancy said pressing elevator's button.
"Where are you lost?" Ayesha nudged Swara as she was still stuck in recent revelations.
"No nothing" Swara replied.
"Or you got awestruck looking at our handsome boss." Ella teased.
"Lol... we can just drool him from far. He has huge girl following" Nancy scrunched her nose.
All three girls laughed hearing her except Swara.
"You are coming right?" Ayesha asked.
"No you all can go ahead. I have one meeting with HR. Just half an hour. I will join you soon." Swara informed and they entered in elevator.
"4th floor?" Ayesha asked.
"Yes, meeting location shows it's on 4th floor" Swara saw her meeting notification.
"But that floor is under construction" Ella responded.
Swara looked at her in confusion but elevator jerked stopping on the floor and breaking her trance.
"Bye..." Swara replied while getting out from elevator.
"Nikhil pick up the phone" Swara murmured in frustration calling Nikhil for one more time while entering in the meeting room.
"I hope it is just coincidence. And..." Swara murmured her thoughts when she heard cold voice from her back.
"No, it's not any bloody coincidence"
She turned to look at Sanskar standing at the door of meeting room looking at her with devil smirk. His cold tone, emotionless face, and dark brown thunder stormed eyes stopped Swara's heartbeat.
Swara stumbled for a moment, she felt weakness in her knees and dryness in her throat. She broke their eye lock as not able to match with his heated glare.
"W...wh...why did?" Swara stammered not able to find any words.
"I must say you have courage to question me?" he ridiculed still maintaining his deadly glare, "Keep one thing in your mind properly that on this Friday you are coming with me. No questions asked."
"N...No... contract's terms and conditions..." Swara could not finished herself but felt sweat droplets forming on her forehead.
"I don't care about that bloody paper. If I say you are coming with me then that's final." Sanskar's high pitched voice was enough to flinch her.
"I can..can't" tears started rolling from her eyes.
"I am not asking you; I am ordering you."
"How can...can I no... I can't" she tried one more time gulping hard.
"I hate to listen No from anyone. I am not used to with this word." He stressed.
Swara raised her teary eyes to match with his red ones. He took one more threatening step towards her and she took one step backwards.
"Ms. Swara Mehra, dare you spill about the paperwork we had completed months back. Trust me you would be thrown out of not only my company but from this country as well. Keep your mouth shut else you would face the worst out of me. No one... I repeat no one should know about the contract." Sanskar intimidated not moving his eyes from her scared face.
"Then why are you asking me to come with you?" Swara asked gathering all her body strength.
"That's none of your business. Remember every weekend you must accompany me wherever I go. No questions asked and behaved as typical wife." Sanskar declared fisting his fingers and gritted teeth.
Swara could see his knuckles turning white with extreme rage. She stared at floor;
"So should I call it as weekend marriage?" Swara murmured to herself feeling disgusted.
"Dare you say that word. IT IS JUST A BLOODY CONTRACT FOR US" Sanskar took threatening step towards her.
Swara jumped at her place she took few steps back touching her back to the wall.
"And one more thing. Don't you dare to tell this to your self-obsessed so-called fiancée. Message him and tell him that nothing is urgent" Swara looked at him in bewilderment.
"How do you...?"
"Ms. Mehra your phone is given by my company with tracking device. So be careful with your actions. If you dare to go against my wish, it won't take much time for me to prove you as fraud entry in this country. You will be deported back to your country, and I will make sure you would not get any job anywhere. And without job I don't think you would be able to repay your home loan." Sanskar stared at her stunned face for a moment and turned to leave. "Be ready on Friday."
"But why me?" Swara asked in shaky voice.
He halted in his tracks listening her sob. Without replying to her, he left from the meeting room.
Swara slumped down in the chair crying bitterly. She was not able to understand where her life was heading towards. She herself did not notice for how much time she sat in that meeting room alone. Her head was paining, and she felt life less. She somehow got up and went towards her floor to work.
At night, she received a call from Nikhil, "Swara how many times you were calling me? Come on yaar, it was mid night."
"I am tired. Bye" Swara cut his call.
'What should I do Kanhaji? Why is he asking me to come with him for weekends? First thing why did he even signed that contract? What does he want? Nikhil and that agent said the person who was ready to do this contract needed some money... but he is multi billionaire. These things do not make sense.'
'Should I ask Nikhil?'
'No... No... he would get to know.'
'What is he going to do with me? He wants to hide this contract marriage thing and at the same time he wants me to be with him on weekends as his wife. Why this Hide and Seek game? I will go mad with these thoughts.'
'Nikhil... I hate you because of you I am stuck here.'
'Who is he? What does he want?'
'Is he from any mafia?'
'Is he involved in any human trafficking?'
'Is he any underground agent?'
'Is he any bidder?'
'Why me?' these thoughts took away her sleep.
Every passing minute was creating havoc in her mind thinking about coming Friday.
Over last three days, Swara had only one thing to do in her free time, 'Search about Sanskar Maheshwari'. He was 28 years old Canadian born, Harvard Gold Medalist, titled as most shrewd and intelligent Businessman, CEO, and major shareholder of Karma Business Group. But apart from this information she could not gather any of his personal details.
"Swara, can you please go on 38th floor. Brittany, my director is asking for someone who can make changes to Amanera's prototype as per suggestion from higher management which she is presenting in front of management body. I would have gone but I have doctor's appointment." Christine asked making puppy face.
"Yes sure." Swara closed her Mac and started winding up to go.
"Brittany has already asked security team to allow access for you on the floor. It's a restricted floor but your ID card will be added on permitted entries." Christine informed packing her stuff.
"Ok" Swara smiled and moved out.
"Ok and one more thing... be careful and diligent while making changes. Mr. Maheshwari is very picky person and convincing him is like a herculean task. Don't worry Brittany will take care I have told her you are a new joiner so she will take care of everything." Christine warned with warm smile.
'Ohh Kanhaji... I will not talk to you now onwards. Did you stop listening to me or what? I don't want to go. That Rakshas will be there.' Swara hit her forehead making sulked face.
"Go Swara... you will get late." Christine pushed her towards elevators.
She came on 38th floor, 'Sunshine Floor' letters printed in gold cursive captured her attention. She closed her eyes for a moment, 'this job is very important for me. I cannot let any other thing to impact my job.'
"Excuse me. Ms. Mehra. For Amanera's Project meeting?" one blond lady on reception, asked her.
"Yes" Swara passed professional smile.
"Please come this way" receptionist showed her way.
Swara was amazed with interiors of the floor which was screaming out lavishness and luxury.
"You may enter" She opened glass door.
"Thanks" Swara entered.
She roamed her eyes over the meeting room it was filled with 15-20 people.
"Swara right?" Brittany asked coming towards her, "Christine told me. Come we need to make some changes board wants to see if it would impact foundation. Also, they have some additional suggestions" Brittany took her in one corner of the room.
Swara again felt an intense gaze she looked in the direction and there was he. Her on paper husband hwo was busy in discussions with his team.
Brittany explained her changes and Swara started working on them without raising her head.
His cold, authoritative voice asking n number of questions and ordering them instructions to his team members was making her jump on her place.
'Hey Kanhaji, how am I going to be with him for two full days?' Swara gulped thinking about her next day when she needed to be with him. 'I hate Friday's.'
"Mam, the changes are done" Swara informed Brittany in low whisper after 2 hours of work.
"Great... upload them on sharepoint. I will take this forward. Thank you so much dear." Brittany appreciated after evaluating the changes made by Swara.
"Mam, can I go?" Swara asked as she wanted to run away from his room as soon as possible.
"Yes, Yes sure" Brittany answered.
Sanskar could not hear their conversation, but his eyes captured Swara leaving from the meeting room.
"Brittany, I want, you to assign one of your resource to be here on the floor full time to make ad hoc changes as well as to update me on every day's basis from today onwards." Sanskar demanded halting Swara in her tracks.
'No please ... not me Kanhaji... not this time. Please listen to me' Swara prayed.
"Sure Mr. Maheshwari. I think, Swara will be great for this job. She knows the project in and out. Even today she made changes flawlessly." Brittany replied with smile.
"Whoever you think is good for this job but asked him or her to shift her stuff on this floor. And make her understand all responsibilities" Sanskar ordered in professional tone.
'Kanhaji I hate you... you don't listen to me these days' Swara closed her eyes in frustration.
