Chapter - 40
"What does that mean?" Swara scrunched her eyebrows.
"Have patience beautiful lady. Let your so called husband come over here."
"Just look at him how much he is stressful. It's real fun to watch him like this." Siddhant showed live video footage of their penthouses living room.
Swara saw Sanskar holding his head in both of his palms, he was on the verge of emotional breakdown.
"He is just waiting for my message for location."
Tears started rolling over her cheeks looking his vulnerability.
'Hey Kanhaji, please stop all this. Please I beg you.'
"David, drive fast" Sanskar ordered. They were in car heading towards location detected over GPS.
"Sir, he is accessing the live footage of your house." Roger informed.
"I had guess so."
"Yes Sir, he would keep his eyes on you."
"Yes and let's keep him in the dark."
Earlier, when Sanskar had realized Swara was with Siddhant, it was obvious for him to guess, that there was someone keeping an eye on their day to day activities.
His security guards found hidden camera in his living room.
It was no wonder when Roger ordered his team to tamper video footage to buy some time for their move out.
"Seriously, you know what I had never imagined Sanskar would become so possessive for someone. He was always cold, rude, arrogant.... A spoil brat." Siddhant was taking steps towards Swara not moving his lusty eyes from her scared face.
Swara gulped heavily understanding his intentions.
He bent dangerously close to her face.
Swara pushed herself back to maintain some distance.
Pungent smell of alcohol and cigarette gave her feeling of vomiting.
"Just like his father" he raised his hands to shift her hair strand.
Swara closed her eyes tightly.
And in a moment Siddhant was jerked off from his place.
"How dare you think to touch her?" Swara opened her eyes with jerk hearing Sanskar's voice.
Sanskar gave punch on his cheeks which made him to fall down on ground.
"Sanskar" Swara cried his name.
Sanskar released her clutches, Roger also came forward to help him.
Siddhant could not grasp what happened in a moment.
When he gained his mental equilibrium he roamed his eyes on the warehouse where he kept Swara as a captive.
His all men's were on gun point of Police and Sanskar's security team.
"How come you are here?" his reaction was obvious to see Sanskar in front of him.
In a moment, he felt on gun over his forehead. He knew the man behind the gun. It was Roger, Sanskar's most loyal employee.
"You bastard messed up with me. What did you think I will let you do whatever you want? You put camera in my house. I used the same to trick you."
"Sanskar" Swara threw herself in his secured embrace.
"Shhh, I am here Swara. I am here. You are safe Swara. Please don't cry." He kept on saying soothing words to her.
"How did you get to know I am here?"
"Your engagement ring. I have injected GPS inside for your safety as I could never trust this asshole."
She clutched his shirt in her fist burring her face in his chest.
"You will pay for this." He shot death glare at Siddhant as well as at Ryan.
Her each tear was piercing his heart.
"Swara please calm down." But his first priority was Swara.
"Did he touch you?"
"No" she shook her head against his chest.
She broke their hug but not her hold over his shirt.
He kissed her forehead to assure about her safety.
"Sir, we are taking them" one of police officer informed handcuffing Siddhant and Ryan.
"No, wait! Let me settle my scores with him." His eyes were fixed on Siddhant.
He was the most influential person, police had to obey his orders.
They took Ryan and other mens, leaving behind only Roger, Swara along with Siddhant and Sanskar.
"You are just like your father." Siddhant wiped the blood oozing out of his lips.
"NO, I AM NOT." Sanskar roared on top of his voice.
"I am not like you" He landed one more much on Siddhant's face.
"I am not like you because I have Granny's upbringing." Another punch landed on his stomach.
"I am not like you because I have my Grandpa's trust." Another one made him half unconscious.
"Roger stop him." Swara was scared to see Sanskar's devil avatar.
"Sir please leave him. I will take care of him." He tried.
"You are just like your father." Siddhant again mumbled increasing Sanskar's fury.
"I am not like..." He raised his hand once again but halted as words from Siddhant hit his eardrum.
"You are just like Shekhar."
"Your father" Siddhant smirky chuckle took away floor from Sanskar's feet.
"What do you mean?" Words were out even before Sanskar could realize it.
"It was not difficult to trick Shekhar. It was my perfectly laid out plan. Sharmishtha was always with me. Shekhar was a true scumbag. A simple puppet."
"Come to the point" Sanskar pulled him close holding his collar.
"All those years, Shekhar hated his own son as we fabricated his reports. Sharmishtha made sure that he would never got to know about the truth. Everything was going on very well but that night, Shekhar somehow got suspicious that you are his blood."
Sanskar was looking at Siddhant without even a blink.
"He was regretting over his hatred for you. He held Sharmishtha on the edge of knife, she being nasty woman blurted out everything. He killed her then and there, under the effects of alcohol and anger. My man who used to be servant of your house informed me. So, I had to take care of all mishap. So, I killed Shekhar as well." It was blunt confession.
One tear dropped from Sanskar's eyes.
Swara took a step to held him by shoulders for support.
"I wanted to kill you but then your Grand father's will came in between so I played my cards proving you as my illegitimate son." His nonchalant voice made Sanskar breathless for a moment.
"I wanted them to throw you out but your so called moral dumb head grand parents. They failed my plans. Especially your grand father. He took you under his shadow."
"He was your protector. He got to know the truth over the years so I had to eliminate him."
"You... you killed Grand Pa?" Sanskar dropped his shoulders.
"Yes, the day he got to know about my dirty secret, I killed him. It was simple. Just change his daily BP medicine with another tablet which gave him heart attack."
"I planted Serena in your life but..." there was tight punch on his face from Sanskar.
"How dare you killed my Grand Pa?"
"You destroyed my life."
"My whole childhood."
He became uncontrollable punching his unconscious body with his fist.
"Sanskar stop it please" Swara was crying trying to stop him.
"Sanskar please for me." Finally she pleaded crying bitterly.
Roger and other police officers had hard time to get hold of Sanskar's furious avatar.
"Sanskar please."
"He killed my Grand Pa" He slumped down on the floor.
Swara sat in front of him encircling her arms around him.
"He destroyed my childhood Swara." He broke down in her embrace.
Sanskar kept on murmuring when Roger and Police took Siddhant away.
"I am with you Sanskar. I will never leave you." Swara patted on his back weeping.
"Let's go home" after a moment Swara made him stand on feet and then came out of warehouse.
They both sat on the backseat and their car was speeding towards their home.
Sanskar was silent, he was lost. His troubled childhood was running in front of his tired eyes.
Swara was holding his hand but he was lost in his thoughts. He had closed himself again in his shell.
They came back home and went to their room.
"I am going to take a shower." Swara's word fell on depth ears. He was staring outside to precise no where.
She came back. He was still standing at the same place, looking at starry sky.
"Sanskar let's sleep for sometime." She intertwined their hands.
"Why me?" He pulled her in tight hug.
"What was my fault?"
"What was Grand Pa's fault?"
She took him towards bed and made him lie.
"Promise me Swara, you will never leave me. I will die if..." he could not complete as Swara placed her lips on his.
It was soothing kiss of assurance which gave relief to his tormented heart.
He burried his head in the crook of her neck and she kept on caressing his back saying soothing words.
Both did not realize when sleep took over them.
Continuous ringing sound of mobile broke her sleep. She saw Sanskar sleeping hugging her tightly as his life depended on her. She caressed his hairs giving quick peck.
She extended her hand to see caller id. It was flashing "Ayesha Calling"
"Swara where are you and Sir? Its 9, you said you both will come here at 8."
"Ohh Ayesha"
"Are you still sleeping?"
"Ohh or are you rehearsing for your today's wedding night."
"Shut up Ayesha." Swara mumbled but her cheeks were painted with red.
"Just give us one more hour we will be there. Bye" She winded up her call with Ayesha as she felt Sanskar's movement.
"Good Morning"
"Good Morning"
He pecked her forehead but his smile was long gone.
"Sanskar?"
He was getting up when she called him from back.
"I know, whatever happened yesterday was unthinkable but..."
"Was he saying truth now or the lie with which I lived all these years that was true?" he asked her blankly.
"I still don't know..."
"His truth or his lies does not change the fact that you are Grand Pa and Grand Ma's grand son. They never bothered to find it out. They never needed any proof to love you. So why you need it now?"
"I want to forget every bad memory Swara. Today is our day. I know it will take some time for me. But I will try my best." He cupped her face.
"And I am there for you always." She gave quick peck on his lips.
He held her wrist and she winced with pain.
"What happened?"
There were some red marks on her wrist which left him boiling in anger.
"Sanskar its our marriage day. Let's get ready. We need to leave. Ayesha just called. We are super late. Now before Ma and Papa calls we need to leave. Else" She tried to divert his attention.
"Ok Ok... you go get ready first."
She went to washroom.
'Make sure to they both will see hell on this earth.' He typed message and send too Roger.
Swara and Sanskar both got ready and started their journey to Granny's house where everything was set for their marriage.
They both had decided to keep last days events hidden from Anurag and Reva.
Swara observed Sanskar he was silent. He was just answering her question in monosyllable. She knew he needed time to digest the biggest truth of his life.
They were welcome by Anurag, Reva and Julia.
"Shona, you both are so late. Panditji will be here in few hours. You both need to get ready as well." Reva and Julia took her to one room to make her ready.
Swara turned to see at Sanskar who blinked his eyes passing message that he was fine.
"Sanskar you also get ready." Anurag patted his back.
Swara got ready in simple red lehenga and with small gold chain which Reva bought for her.
"Shona I could afford this much only." Reva became emotional.
"Ma this is the priceless gift I can get."
"Everyone should have a daughter like you." Reva kissed her forehead.
"Ma, I am coming in two minutes." She ran out of her room to Sanskar's room.
Sanskar was sitting on bed holding one picture in his hands. It was his picture with his grand parents.
He heard her anklets sound and wiped his unshed tears.
She halted in her tracks looking at his lost figure.
"Sanskar, if you want we can postpone this ..."
"No Swara, these rituals will make you live with me for ever."
She sat beside him.
"Look at them Sanskar, they are smiling. They are smiling because they know you will be happy. You were the one for whom they both fought with the world. You were their precious possession."
He turned to look at her serene smile who was staring at the picture.
"I know, it was terrible. I know it's hard for you to accept. But everything is finished now. Past is gone. Leave it behind and walk on the path which leads to your happiness... Our togetherness... our love."
"You are right." He wrapped his arm around her shoulder.
"Let's take a first step for our forever togetherness." She raised her head to look in his eyes with small smile.
"Yes" he got up from bed.
"I need my rightful possession Sanskar." He turned to look at her in confusion.
"Granny's Kangans."
"I need them as her blessings. I am going to be the rightful owner of them from today." Her eye filled with tears.
'I had hope that one day I will pass them to you. Finally that day is here.' He blinked his eyes leaving deep sigh.
"This is not just a one day... this is for forever." She tiptoed to kiss his cheeks sealing her promise.
'How come she always reads my mind?' he shook his head.
He went inside to get those Kangans. Swara wore them remembering her moments with Granny.
There was knock on the door.
"Swara, Sanskar Panditji is calling you both."
They both came downstairs and sat in front of Kanhaji's idol.
Panditji started ranting mantras and shloks.
Reva and Anurag did Swara's Kanyadaan with heavy yet happy heart.
Reva was explaining meaning of each ritual to Sanskar which was increasing his belief on this pious bond.
Finally, they took seven rounds around holy fire and Panditji asked him to fill Swara's hairline with sindoor and asked him to make her wear mangalsutra.
He did as instructed.
The moment he took his hands back after making her wear mangalsutra he saw at her face.
She was truly looking like his wife with martial symbols of his name, declaring world that she belonged to him only.... after one year of their contract marriage.
From on paper wife, she became his ritually, legally wedded wife Mrs. Swara Sanskar Maheshwari.
