Chapter 6

She didn't stop, even though Charlotte was yelling at her. She ran upstairs to their room.

"Bella, what's going on?!"  Charlotte shouted at her, but Bella began to throw her things around the room. Charlotte just avoided them.
"Isabella!" she shouted at her again until Bella stopped completely. "What's going on?! You want to go there?!"
"He said we should meet at a clearing in the woods. I probably know what it's about," Bella replied, beginning to change into black comfortable clothes.

"What's about?"

"Tournament! Illegal! Students do it to each other. Secretly! If it comes down to it, those who organize Tournaments and those who have fought will be immediately expelled! And he invites me there," Bella said, pulling her hair into ponytail.

"Don't go there! He didn't say you had to. Bella, you make sense," Charlotte said.

"I have to! If I don't go, it's considered a weakness. I know I'm jumping to danger, but someone has to show them what an elbow is!" she said firmly.

"But it doesn't have to be you!"

"You don't have to go there, Charlotte, I can handle it," she put her hand on her shoulder.

...

"God, I'm stupid!" Charlotte said as she walked with Bella through the dark forest. The forest was even darker than during the day.  They didn't even see the tip of their nose.
"I told you, you didn't have to, you insisted," Bella smiled.

"Why do you still have to be so positive?! Do you know you're going to die?!" she raised her voice.

Bella laughed softly and moved forward proudly.

"Do you even know where it is?"  Charlotte panicked.

"Shh! I hear something," Bella said.

They both pricked up their ears.  They heard laughter, roar, and above all explosions.  Charlotte swallowed hard, "Are we going back?"

"No!"  Bella protested.

Charlotte reluctantly followed her.  They came to a clearing where students stood in a circle.  Finally light.  Suddenly there was a loud scream followed by a huge fire over the trees.  Charlotte looked at Bella in fear.  The glow of fire reflected in her eyes.
"Aren't you really going to change your mind?" Charlotte said fearfully.
"Yeah, yeah, we're going home," Bella nodded, turning her back towards the group of students.

"It's them!" suddenly one of the students said. The students spread out and created a free passage leading directly to Bella and Charlotte. "Come on David!"

"Aren't you leaving anymore?"  said the Ruler of Fire, who called on Bella to fight. David, Bella won't forget his name in her life.  Slowly they turned toward a group of students. Bella classicly put on a dull smile.

"Shall we Dance?" David grinned at Bella.

"Let her go fight!" one of the students shouted and began pulling Charlotte straight for David.

"No!" Bella shouted, pulling Charlotte closer. "I'm going!"

Charlotte couldn't believe what Bella had said. After all, she is facing death, with a smile on her face. She watched Bella enter among the students. Charlotte knew she wouldn't talk Bella. Bella is pretty stubborn about it.

"Here's a pond of water," David said to Bella, pointing to a small pond overgrown with water lilies.  Bella nodded in agreement, "What are the rules?"

David began to laugh out loud, "Did you hear?! What are the rules!" he turned to the students. Bella swallowed hard. That's not good.

"There aren't any! No, wait... one rule would be... We can't kill here, so unfortunately you won't die, but I can hurt you," he laughed sinisterly. David prepared for the fight. Bella woke up quickly. She knew she wouldn't survive. He will definitely try to kill her. She quickly took some water from the pond and waited for what David would do.

Fear held her breath. They stood facing each other, without a word.  Everyone was silent. Her heart was pounding so loud she was surprised the others couldn't hear it. Suddenly, David moved. They began to walk around each other.  Both ready to fight. Bella was fully focused on his every move.  Encouraging thoughts began to build in her head, trying to calm down, when suddenly David fired at her.

Bella rolled aside quickly.  His fire flew between the heads of the spectators around them.  She understood that he doesn't care who he hurts.

He fired again without hesitation.  Bella hurriedly put water in front of her, and put out his fire. She told herself that now was the time to muster the courage to attack. She made ice thorns out of some water and sent them directly to David.

David just waved. His movement was followed by a fire that melted Belly's ice. He immediately fired so many fire shots at her that Bella could barely repel them.  She divided the water into several parts and tried to put out all the fire that flew at her, but with each shot she ran out of water.

Suddenly she noticed another fire flying at her, but Belle's water ran out.
"Damn!" she said, crossing her arms in front of her face. She was just waiting for David to start dancing on her grave when suddenly David shouted, "What?!"

She surprised Bella with that word. Isn't she dead? She opened her eyes slowly and looked over her arms crossed. She rolled her eyes in surprise. The fire in front of her stood in the air. Her hands were still crossed. She looked around to see if anyone was protecting her. Is she really doing this? Everyone looked at her in shock. Belle realized she was doing it. She is...

"Master!!!" David shouted, promptly firing at her. Bella let go of the fire she was holding and fled. She made her way among the students, took Charlotte's hand, and ran away as fast as they could.

David waved to the other Rulers of Fire to help him. They all started firing at them, but Bella and Charlotte quickly hid behind a rock in front of their bullets. They both tried to catch their breath. They both had fear on their faces. Bella this time, too.  She couldn't believe what had happened.

"Bella?" Charlotte said fearfully.  Her voice shook, but Bella just shook her head and grabbed her hand. Now was not the time to ask questions.

...

Clothes started flying in their room again, but this time they were flying into Bella's suitcase.
"Bella, are you really a Master?"  Charlotte asked again. "Is that why you wanted to study those books?"

"No! I didn't know about it! Only now have I found out. I was as surprised as you were!" Bella shouted.

"Are you sure you really are the Master?" Charlotte tried to reassure.

Bella stopped packing for a moment and raised her hand palm up. A fire burned on her hands. Charlotte looked at her even more surprised. Bella really is a Master.

"Look, we ran fast but now I have to disappear before they arrive. That David wants to be a Guardian. He's definitely going to kill me. I don't want to let you in, so I can only do one thing..." Bella said. She took some water from the sink in the bathroom. "I'm sorry Charlotte," Bella knocked Charlotte against the wall, consolidating her right arm and leg with ice.

Charlotte didn't protest. Bella was quite surprised. She wiped away a stray tear, grabbed her suitcase, and ran away. She never occurred to her that she would do such a thing to her friend, but at the moment it was the only way to save both lives. They would still suspect her of trying to cover Bella.

She didn't even make a plan. She just ran to the station as fast as she could. She didn't care where she went. Most importantly, she had to get as far away as possible. Near the station, she waited in a dark, narrow alley for no one to see, and she wore a hood over her head.

She kept looking behind her.  When she suddenly saw a group of Fire Rulers led by David. She immediately pressed against the wall. She hoped he wouldn't see her. She'd rather not even imagine what Charlotte would face.

The Rulers of the fire split in all directions. They walked among the people and shone with fire.
"David!"  one of the Fire Rulers said. Bella immediately began to look around.  "We didn't find her anywhere."
Bella breathed. They're probably giving up.
"Okay, then we'll deal with it differently. Mr. Nightingale could help us," David laughed.  Immediately, everyone went back to school.

On the one hand, Bella breathed, but on the other hand, she hoped the train would arrive as soon as possible. She had to be even more careful now that they wanted to call Mr. Nightingale.

...

The train arrived soon. Bella didn't even care where she was going.  She just stepped in. She kept looking to see if one of the Fire Rulers had separated from the others and went to watch her.

Bella was shaking with fear.  Her eyes darted nervously. So many people. She suspected everyone.  She didn't know what to expect as a Master. She can control only two elements, while she is able to defend herself only with water.

There was no place to sit. She needs to hide somewhere. After a while, she found two seats facing each other. On one of them sat a boy with a black hoodie and a hood on his head. Curly brown hair peeked out from under his hood. His head was tilted slightly, he was probably asleep. Without a word, she sat across from him and cleaned her suitcase over her seat.

She looked at him for a moment.  He looked like Bella for sixteen years. He grunted in peace. She wondered what element he controlled. It was hard to guess.

Suddenly there was a loud whistling and the train started.  Bella dropped a stone from his heart. She was on her way from school. She finally felt a little safer. There was no chance that anyone would want to kill her.

Yawned. She already needed to sleep. After such a long time. After everything that happened in the last eight hours, she finally had a chance to sleep...

... got up from the bench and ran down the stairs directly against the railing. She skipped it without hesitation. She flew down and lifted Charlotte lying on the ground. Charlotte looked at her in surprise. Half of her face was burned by fire. She hissed and smiled for the last time...
Bella shed a few tears. She could feel the tears warming her face. When a boy sitting next to her suddenly caught her from behind. "Quick, Bella, come on!" She didn't listen to him.  She didn't want to. He pulled her to a standing position, but Bella didn't even look at him.  She was still staring at Charlotte's dead body. She couldn't believe it. Charlotte is younger and died before Bella.  Tears welled in Belle's eyes, her legs broke, and her eyelids closed until she hit the ground hard...

Bella woke up in a flash. She immediately removed the hood from her head and leaned forward. She was breathing fast until a few tears fell. The dream was so real. She straightened up again. She wiped the tears from her eyes and looked ahead.  The boy was still sitting across from her. He kept sleeping. He didn't even seem to wake up in that time. She looked across the aisle between the seats. Opposite were the adult Ruler of the Elements, reading a newspaper.  When Bella looked at him, he bent one corner of the newspaper and began examining her from head to toe. Bella quickly took off her hood and leaned back in her seat. She tried to be as unobtrusive as possible. She couldn't trust anyone.

After a while, the train stopped and a woman said on the radio, "Final station! Please get out!"

The boy across from Belle jerked.  He woke up. He also began to look at Bella from head to toe.  Their eyes suddenly met, and Bella could see his brown eyes.  She looked away from him and got up from her seat. She quickly took off her suitcase above her and got out.

The boy was still looking at her from behind, but Bella disappeared deep in the dark forest...
