Chapter 3

"Come on Bella, we can't catch up! Wake up!" Charlotte shouted.
"Calm down, it's still a deep night," Bella yawned, looking at Charlotte with one eye. Charlotte ran around the room. From the bathroom to the closet and back.

Belle's eyes narrowed and her eyelids fell. Charlotte touched her with icy hands, startling terribly. She thought it was her death. How can anyone have such icy hands?
"Damn Charlotte!" she shouted at her and jumped into her seat.
"I'm telling you to do it! The first class starts in 10 minutes! We can't keep up!" Charlotte urged, tossing things into her backpack.
"What about breakfast?" Bella said sleepily.
"Then!"

Bella finally woke up and shot out of bed. She ran around the room, just like Charlotte did. She didn't even know what the first hour of the subject was. Mainly quickly pack up and drop out. She just combed her hair quickly and rinsed her face. Ice water stung her face. She wouldn't fall asleep anymore, even if she wanted to.

After a while, they were both packed and running to class.  They walked down the hall where the signs for the Rulers of Fire and Water met. As they walked down the stairs, the Fire Lords went up to meet them. Bella saw that they did not intend to avoid them. They would easily roll over them. Charlotte slowed down the stairs and turned behind Bella.  Bella went forward but proudly.  The lord of the fire, who was walking directly opposite Belle, laughed calmly with his friends.  He felt like a king. However, when he noticed that Bella was not going to dodge, his smile faded.  Bella stared at him fightingly.  She hated people who felt like the world belonged to them. When they met, they looked at each other for a while. He looked Belle straight in the eye and didn't look away. Bella stood on the steps above him, not wanting to dodge.
"Don't you feel embarrassed?!"  said the Ruler of Fire.
"Not at all," she replied in a calm voice.
"No?! Do you know who we are?!"  he raised his voice. He approached Belle so close that he can touch her. She began to sweat, but she didn't show fear or apprehension.
"We? Who are 'we'? It's just you! Your gang's been up there a long time ago," she grinned provocatively.
The answer was a frown and a blow to the shoulder as he passed. Bella turned behind him, wanting to see them catching up.

"Was it necessary to make enemies here on the first day of learning?" Charlotte said, standing next to Belly.
"It's bullshit at first sight," she grinned. "Someone had to show them how to behave," she looked at Charlotte and left. Charlotte just shook her head and followed Bella into the classroom.

Charlotte only hoped they would never meet the Rulers of fire  again. It might not end well. Their brains work on the principle: burn everything that comes your way!  This time it was Bella who came in their way.

...

They were late again. Mr. teacher was closing the door behind him.  If Bella hadn't snatched them from his hand, they wouldn't have made it.
"Damn, girls! What are you doing?" Mr. teacher jumped in fright.
"Sorry," they said both at once and went to sit down.

"What time is it?" Bella asked confused, leaning over Charlotte.
"History," Charlotte whispered, searching her history textbook.

History, just that word made Belle sick. She swallowed hard and placed a thick history textbook on the table. She didn't like books very much, just looking at the fat bichli she wanted to run away. In return, Charlotte pretended to be interested in History. They were like fire and water. Except they both ruled by water.

The hour dragged on terribly, it never seemed to end. They sat there for ten minutes, but it seemed like an hour to Bella. Her eyelids were falling. She wanted to sleep so badly, but she couldn't. She sat twisted, her head resting on her head, letting her blond hair flow over her shoulder. All she was interested in at the moment was the food.  Or rather, where the dining room is.

There was a grave silence in the classroom. Sometimes the pen fell to the ground, otherwise the teacher interpreted his own.
"In Darion, the Masters used to rule, they were special in being able to control all four elements," Bella's words woke up. They control all four elements? What?  That is possible? She thought.  Surprised, she dropped her pen and began to listen to the teacher.
"They have united our world with ordinary people who cannot control the elements like us, and they have opened the gates for them to come to us at any time."  the teacher continued. "These so - called Masters would rule here today if the people of Darion did not come to the aid of our King Michael Wallian's father. Joseph Wallian changed Darion for the better. Only he couldn't get rid of the Masters completely. Some of them still live among us..."
