Ew, Stairs『20』

Tom's pov

I woke up to see Y/n peacefully in my arms, making me smile.

Until it hit me.

I had until we left the room to get Y/n to call me Tom again, or chaos could ensue.

"Hey, Holland," Y/n muttered, waking up, a small smirk found its way onto her face. She had only just woken up, but she already had an attitude.

"Really, Darling?" I asked, my voice husky.

"Of course, Holland," Y/n said. "You know what if we named one of our kids Holland?"

"Holland Holland?" I asked, chuckling. "I don't think that would work very well."

"Fine, I always liked Clara better," she sighed.

"Clara Holland," I said. "I like that."

"I do too, Tom," Y/n smiled, rolling out of bed, not falling on the floor.

"I'm so tired," Dylan yawned as we waited on the pier for a bus. "I mean, why can't I be like Kylee?"

He pointed over to Kylee, who was currently asleep on David.

We were all currently waiting for the bus that would take us from the port into the main city.

"Don't let me fall asleep like that," Y/n whispered. "That would be embarrassing."

"No promises," I winked, causing her to hit me. "Ouch- what was that for?"

"I just said it would be embarrassing," she huffed. "So why would you let me?"

"It would be cute," I smiled, but Y/n just rolled her eyes.

"It's the truth, Darling."

"Yeah, no," she replied, shaking her head.

We only had to wait a bit longer, when the bus arrived, taking us to our next stop, where we had to wait about half an hour for our next bus to arrive.

"Imagine having someone fall asleep on you," Dylan snorted, looking at Y/n, who was currently asleep, her head on my shoulder.

I didn't mind it, I could hear her steady breathing in my ear, along with every so often she breathed my name, making me smile.

I knew she didn't want me to let her sleep, but she must have been exhausted from the night before so I had to let her rest.

"It's fine," I smiled, "I'll wake her up when the bus comes."

"She can sleep later," Dylan said, rolling his eyes. "Seriously, I swear she can always sleep."

"Wasn't it you that just said you wished you could sleep?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.

"I do want to sleep," he said, "I just don't want someone to fall asleep on me."

That's when Ivy whispered something to him, which made him falter.

"Okay, it just depends on who it is," he told her.

"Good," Ivy replied, a small smile on her face.

"The bus is here," I whispered to Y/n nudging her slightly, as the tour bus arrived.

Y/n woke up, and stretched, then standing up.

"Come on," she yawned, walking, then waving to me to follow her as she walked over to where her mom was.

I chuckled, but jogged over to her, nudging her with my elbow when I got there.

"Welcome back," she said, yawning again.

"I'm glad to be back," I said.

We got onto the bus when I heard a clicking and a shutter noise.

"How do you deal with them?" Y/n asked me.

We had sat down, I gave Y/n the window seat, so she was currently looking out the window, seeing the paparazzi that had decided to show up.

"You deal with them basically everyday right?" she asked.

"Basically," I shrugged. "I usually just ignore them now. Although they do get annoying, a lot."

It was a long ride to Florence. Just like Dylan said, Y/n ended up falling asleep again. I smiled as her head fell onto my shoulder, I could hear her breathing in my ear, which was calming in a way.

"Tom, Y/n, wake up," I heard, as someone nudged me.

I opened my eyes, to see my head was rested on Y/n's. I sat up, nudging her, which woke her up.

"I'm awake," she said, yawning, then standing up, stretching.

"Tom, you need to move," she said, using her knee to nudge me. "I have places to see-" she said putting her sunglasses on, "-so come on, let's go before I fall asleep again."

I chuckled, moving, then getting off of the bus, where we met up with Y/n's parents who were with Dylan.

"Let's go," Y/n's dad said, grinning.

"I can't believe I'm here," Y/n said excitedly, "I've always wanted to go to Florence, and now that I'm here, I can't believe it."

"I'm glad I can be here with you to experience it," I said smiling. "I don't think it would have been as fun if I was experiencing it all by myself."

"That's why I'm here," she replied. "My job is to be the comedic effect."

I laughed softly, "Well I'm glad you're here."

"Me too."

We walked around the city, stopping at the Florence Cathedral, or the Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore, as we were going to climb the dome.

Y/n wasn't very happy about that.

"I'm going to die," she said as we started climbing. "There are four hundred, sixty-three stairs, and I've only climbed I don't even know-"

"Y/n pick up the pace," Dylan said from in front of us, after a while. "I want to get to the top as soon as possible so we can get gelato."

A new sense of determination seemed to fill Y/n.

"Tom, hurry up," she said, "I want that gelato."

I chuckled and kept climbing the stairs.

"I really despise stairs," Y/n said, as we made it to the top.

"It wasn't that-"

"No, it was that bad," Y/n said, shaking her head, but pulling her camera out. "What?" she asked when she saw me furrowing my eyebrows.

"Nothing," I replied, "d'you want me to take a picture of you?"

"Sure," she said, smiling.

I got a few pictures of her, her smile illuminating her face, as though she hadn't just complained about climbing over four hundred stairs. But after I finished, the smile was gone, she was shaking her head.

"Never make me climb that many stairs again," she said.

"I won't," I smiled. "I promise."

"Good," she replied.

Y/n's pov

We finally went and got gelato. Having to climb down all four hundred and sixty-three stairs, which wasn't as bad as climbing up the stairs. But it was tedious as I also didn't want to trip down that many stairs.

"Finally," I said in relief, as we made it to the outside of the cathedral, "now, let's go get gelato."

"Okay, Y/n," my mom said, laughing a little, "let's go."

We found a small shop quickly, as there were many around. We went in and ordered the gelatos we wanted.

It was delicious, and just what I needed. I wasn't sure if I could go back to eating regular ice cream after I was supposed to go back home. That's what reminded me.

"Tom," I said as we walked around more.

"Hm?" he said, a smile on his face.

"Two days," I said quietly.

"What?" Tom asked, furrowing his eyebrows. "I didn't hear you."

"Two days, Tom," I repeated. "The cruise is over in two days, tomorrow is the last port day."

Tom's face fell, realizing the same as well.

"I can always come and see you," he reasoned.

"Aren't you going to be filming though?" I asked.

"Oh my Thor," Dylan said, rolling his eyes. "We stopped already, shut up and be sad about not being able to see each other when we get back to the boat, you're ruining my vibe."

I made a face at Dylan, rolling my eyes, then actually looking at where we were.

"This is Ponte Vecchio," my dad said, grinning. "It is considered one of the most iconic sights in Florence."

"Didn't Adolf Hitler come here once," Dylan said out of the blue, "and that's why there are three fewer windows and this big space?"

"Yes, that is the truth," my dad said slowly, not expecting Dylan to say that

"Nice," Dylan said, looking away.

"Wow, Dylan," I said, "where did you learn that?"

"I dunno," he shrugged, "I saw it somewhere once, and yeah."

"I mean, okay," I replied shrugging.

*time skip brought to you by my conflicting feelings about a guy*

We were back on the bus when David and Kylee approached us.

"What's up?" I asked.

"We're on the same team tonight and we have to come up with a song," he said quickly.

"I- what?" I asked, from my extensive knowledge about The Voice that was not what was supposed to happen.

See, when we were younger (David, Kylee, and me), we would watch The Voice at David's house all the time. The competition was actually called "The Voice at Sea" so it was basically just The Voice, but on a cruise ship, while we were at sea.

"They didn't have enough people to have people on each team go against each other," David explained, "so they teamed up two people, randomly, and they're supposed to sing a song together and then they'll eliminate twice as many people this way."

"That makes sense," I said nodding, "since tomorrow is the last night on the cruise."

"Yeah, pretty much," David nodded.

"Well, I guess we'll just have to come up with an amazing song so we win," I grinned.

"Of course, of course," David said.
