Chapter 1

A/N: I'm terribly sorry. I switch to first person for scenes with Clary but then go back to third person for any other scene. Sorry 😐 this is my first tmi fanfic. If this turns out well, maybe I'll do another 🧐 Btw my work isn't edited so plz point any mistakes out so I can change them 😋 And for anyone that doesn't ready this, sorry for the weird shit that's gonna happen😈

Clarissa - 13 years old
Jonathan- 14 years old

~~~
" Are you ready?" Jonathan asked.
I took a deep breath, knowing there's no turning back after this.  Once we step foot into here, we can't change our future. No matter how good or bad it is.
"Yes."
Clarissa - 16 years old
Jonathan - 17 years old
"Adele!" Irene, the head of the Paris institute called.
I rushed from the library, where I was reading a very interesting book about how to lie to your superiors. It was going to come in handy, if I don't forget the steps.
Here, they called us Adele and Christopher Ravefold. No one knew we were Valentine's children. I mean like, you can't exactly not end up in the City of Bones if everyone knew that info. Though, our appearances weren't glamoured because no one really knew that Valentine and Jocelyn had children. Even when we were living in Idris, we weren't exactly in public much. That much, I am great full for to Valentine.
"Yes Irene?" I asked, panting from the distance I had to travel to get to where she was. By the angel, institutes are huge. Which was also very annoying. Then again, our manor was double, almost triple the size of this place. Though me and Jonathan weren't ever allowed to go to some places of the manor.
Irene immediately crossed her arm, looking at my slouchy and sweating figure. Honestly, I think I'm quite beautiful. Just maybe at another time.
"Go and get your brother and meet me back here in 2 minutes." She stated.
I groaned. She first makes me run all the way down to her office which was 5 floors below the library I was in, and now she wants me to go back up there to grab my brother? This woman.
Irene tapped her shoes. "Hurry up. I've already started counting."
I rolled my eyes. Of course she has. I ran upstairs to the 6th floor, to grab my brother, who was in a conversation with another girl. Doing a horrible impression of trying to flirt with her. I rolled my eyes again. Really. Are our people really this stupid?
I coughed, getting their attention. They both turned to look at me.
"Um, Chris?" I asked. "Irene wants to see us in her office in a minute or else we're gonna be chopped up and served as dinner to demons."
Felicia, the girl who was looking very uncomfortable while Jonathan was talking suppressed a laugh. Jonathan looked between us awkwardly with a nervous laugh.
"W-well then. I hope we can talk later." He stammered. My brother was a huge idiot.  He's really blind to the simplest things like a girl that clearly doesn't like him.
We ran all the way down and was panting and sweating by the time we made it. Irene greeted us with a face that said 'I had a very bad morning and my boyfriend just dumped me so I'm gonna take all my anger on you'.
"You're 11 seconds late, Ravefold." Irene grumbled, looking at her watch.
"Maybe your eyes were too bad to tell the correct time." I mumbled under my breath.
She raised her eyebrow. " Did you just say something, Adele?"
"Nope. Nothing at all." I replied smoothly. The book really helped.
"Anyways, I have something to tell you two." Her tone suddenly turned into a professional voice.
"What is it?" Jonathan asked.
Irene placed 2 files on the table and gestured for us to take one. Inside, there was a letter from the Clave stating the need for people to be relocated to a institute in New York because of certain "management issues". There was also files on all the shadowhunters that live there.
"I need you two to go to the New York Institute as temporary heads of the institute. It turns out, people there can't keep their heads out of their asses."
I looked at Jonathan, wondering if he would leave his beloved Felicia here. He replied with a simple okay. I was surprised. He just levelled up from a 'really dumb brother' to a 'somewhat dumb brother'. We need to celebrate later.
Irene nodded at Jonathan's answer and turned to me for my reply.
"I mean like, sure but why did you pick us?"
"Well, you two are the best shadowhunters we have. Though with the amount of panting you did from running a little distance in our Institute, I may have to re-think my decision."  Irene said.
"No need for that," Jonathan said. "We'll go."
Irene nodded, seeming pleased at our answer. "Well then. Pack your things. You'll be leaving in a few hours."
~~~

"Jace, Alec, Isebelle." Maryse said.

The three shadowhunters turned to her from where they were playing a little game of cards.

"Yes mother?" Isabelle replied, placing a double 8 over Jace's double 7. He shot her a dark look. Maryse shook her head. No wonder this is happening.

"I have a very important announcement to make. Two shadowhunters from the Paris Institute are coming in less than 2 hours to take temporary control over our Institute."

They dropped their cards.

"Excuse me?" Jace said, with a what in Raziel's name is going on look.

"Since, since the Clave has decided that we are unfit to oversee the institute, they have sent two shadowhunters here. Please make yourselves presentable, for once." Maryse stated, walking out of the room while the children were still gaping at her.

~~~
"Eve, please make a portal." Eve was the high warlock of Paris. She's the type of girl that appreciates manners though if you bring her to parties, she'll get drunk and then start screaming bloody murder at you. Eve nodded her head and in a snap, a portal to the New York Institute appeared.
Jonathan and I turned to Irene. We nodded, as in a goodbye. 'Never say goodbye to someone unless you plan to die', Irene had always said.
I grabbed Jonathan's hand and we stepped into the portal.
~~~

"I'm betting that it's going to be 2 old granny's." Jace betted. The only thing going through his incredibly small, stupid brain was, 'Isn't that the only people that live in Paris?'.

Isebelle rolled her eyes. "Of course not! It's going to be 2 amazingly hot dudes that speak French."

This time, it was Alec's turn to roll his eyes. "As if. It's probably some middle aged person who has children that their sending. Also, Magnus is the only hot dude I will ever see in my eyes."

"Then why are you spending your time with us and not your beloved boyfriend?" Isabelle teased.

Red rose to his cheeks, which was hilarious. Alec almost never blushes because it is always hilarious when he does.

"Be quite," Maryse said. "There almost here. 10 seconds left."

~~~
Traveling through portals should make most shadowhunters drowsy, though me and Jonathan were a special case. Remember what I said about how Clave would put us in the City of Bones if they knew that we were Valentine's children? Well, that would have been 50% of the reason. The other 50% was because Jonathan and I have..... well, you can call it powers. In the few years that we were in hiding, Valentine had trained us. Along with occasionally sneaking in some angel blood.
Which is probably why we shouldn't be training with them. It would be too obvious. Even at the Paris Institute, we trained in private. Irene didn't allow us to at first. So we didn't train for months. She got angry about our lack of training, so we were sent on a mission. Coincidentally, there were a few demons waiting for us. By a few, I mean at least 40. We killed them, got what we had came for, and went back to the institute. Of course, Irene had knew about the demons. She was actually surprised that we killed them all. Ever since then, we were allowed to train in private.
We landed foot at the New York Institute and was meet by a noisy trio. They were bickering about who the two shadowhunters would be. Though, they didn't realize that we had already arrived.
"Maybe this was why we were sent here." I said, in a smooth tone that startled the trio. As their face turned to us, I was amazed. Not by their appearances, but by the stupid look on their faces. Though, that may be considered an appearance.
A woman in her mid 30's stepped up. This must have been the head of the institute.
She stretched her hand out, asking to shake hands. I hid behind my brother and gestured him to shake the hand. I don't get along well with strangers. Who knows which ones are demons in disguise?
"My name is Maryse Lightwood." Maryse said, shaking Jonathan's hand instead of mine. She didn't seem affected by my reaction while the trio back in the room snickered. Maryse shot a look at them and they immediately stopped.
"I terribly sorry for the way my children are acting. It must be a horrible first impression," Maryse sighed. "Jace, Isabelle, Alec. Come here and introduce yourselves." The three of them walked to where we were.
"My name is Isabelle Lightwood. You can call me Izzy. Sorry for laughing. Also, I was half right at guessing who you two were!" Izzy said.
"Hey! That doesn't count Izzy. Besides, Alec didn't even guess." The blond haired one protested.
"Jace" Maryse hissed.
"Sorry," Jace said with a very unapologetic smile. "I'm Jace Herondale. I'm the adoptive son of the Lightwoods. And the most charming shadowhunter here. So you can give me a visit anytime you're lonely, red."
I glared at Jace and so did Jonathan. The final boy noticed our glares.
"Whoa there. I'm sorry for the idiotic thing my brother did. Name's Alec Lightwood. Btw I'm gay so don't try to play a move on me red. Though neither can your friend cause I already have a boyfriend."
One person calling me red was already annoying. But two idiots calling me that, I couldn't take it anymore. I stepped out of my brothers shadow.
"This is pathetic."
