Chapter 12

You decided that you wanted to give Liang and Qi their plushies. You had tried to work up the courage to go up to them on the way back to the cell, but you ended up chickening out. You ended up just putting the plushies on their beds when they weren't looking. Everyone did the usual activities until lights out was called. You didn't get to train that day, so you decided that you would go out once everyone was asleep. You laid in your bed for the better part of an hour. You had changed into your training clothes rather than your pajamas, so all you had to do was walk out. You did a final check to make sure that everyone was sleeping. Once you were pretty sure, you opened the door quietly and stepped out, shutting the door behind you. Once you put your ear buds in and chose a song, you made your way quickly to your training ground, smiling as you hummed along to (y/f/s).

(Upa's pov)

Once she opened the door, I tossed my hat between it and the wall, keeping it from locking. After I was sure that she was a good ways away, I got out of bed and walked out of the door. I was hoping that she would let me meditate or train with her. I followed at a distance as she hummed the melody of whatever song was playing in her earbuds. I smiled as she slightly danced to the song as she walked. It was goofy and weird, but adorable either way. 'Adorable' I thought to myself. I shook the thought off as she made it to the door. As she reached for the doorknob, I prepared to walk up to her, but her hand stayed hovering above the knob. I then felt a horrible aura wash over me. I quickly hid in the shadows, but (y/n) didn't. She only dropped her hand which fell limply at her side. I wanted to call out to her, but the aura was too powerful. It felt bad. Evil. I couldn't move as I watched someone come out from seemingly now where.

(Normal pov)

You knew who it was immediately. "Shen." you said under your breath. You then realized something else. Upa was there. You immediacy masked his presence so he would be invisible to Shen. You hoped against all hope that he would stay hidden. You made sure to keep your muscles loose as to not give away your next move. You knew he was watching you. You could feel it. Silence filled the hallway. Suddenly, you pushed open the door. You bolted towards the area where you knew the weapons would be. It was pitch black as you didn't have time to turn the lights on, but you knew this place like the back of your hand. You jumped over the small pile of rocks you knew was there. Shen must have heard you jump, as you heard him jump over the pile too, though it sounded as if he had clipped the tip of his foot. You felt the ground change from the soft, grass-filled floor of the meditation ground to the packed dirt floor of the training ground. You were close. The weapons were on a rack that hung on the far right wall. There were six tiers to the rack. The bottom two were normal staffs. The two above that contained two katanas. And the top had your favorite weapon of choice: Staffs that were fitted with blades on the end. You knew how to use those the best. You could use all of the weapons extremely well, but you hated taking lives, so you didn't want to use the katanas. The normal staffs didn't seem like a very good choice, so when you got within ten feet of the wall you knew they were at, you jumped, grabbing one of the bladed staffs. You made sure not to make any noise while jumping or landing as to not alert Shen of the weapon stash. Using your qi gong, you warped the sound of your footsteps, making them glitch around the room. To him it would seem like you were somehow running at different areas in the room at the same time, but he knew better. He had been briefed on your abilities before his trip here. You figured that he wouldn't be going for the kill this time as you couldn't feel your former boss's aura. You had never taught anyone else your masking technique. It was not known to anyone else except you as you had come up with it, so if he was there, you would know. You figured that he could feel the vibration you made when you run as you could feel his, so you floated up, once again using your Qi gong to mimic the vibrations running made. You felt him rush past you, hearing him giggle maniacally. You surpassed a shiver as you carefully floated towards the exit. You made sure to not brush against any one of the many plants once you had gotten into the meditation area. You felt for the door and felt that it was open. You floated through it. You were about to go off to alert Samon. Then you remembered your deal, causing your heart to fall. It fell even further when you realized that if Shen found Upa, he would kill him. You had a general idea of where Upa was, so you went to that area. You found him after a bit of feeling along the wall. He was about to speak but you held a finger up to his lips. He got the message. You suddenly stopped the fake footsteps inside of the training ground. After a few seconds, you heard Shen yell angrily. "CLEVER GIRL. CLEVER GIRL. I SEE THAT YOU HAVE GAINED MORE SKILLS SINCE THE LAST TIME YOU WERE WITH BOSS. NO MATTER. I WASN'T TO KILL YOU THIS TIME ANYWAYS. I JUST CAME TO REMIND YOU OF THE SITUATION. I SAW YOU WITH YOUR LITTLE FRIENDS TODAY, HAVING SO MUCH FUN PLAYING GAMES AND WHAT NOT. ESPECIALLY WIHT THAT UPA KID. HE'S A QI GONG USER TOO, IS HE NOT?" he stopped his speech to let out a cold cackle, "AND YOU CAN'T GO TO THAT MONKEY OF A GUARD EITHER. IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE WE MEET AGAIN. SEE YA SOON, BIG SIS." and with that, he departed. The both of you were frozen for what felt like hours. Finally, you let your mask fall off of Upa. He tried to speak, but couldn't. You both just wordlessly made your way back to the cell. You decided that you wouldn't train today.

I'm not 100% sure but I think this is about the half-way mark in this book. (I would go check but I'm too lazy) As I have said before, this isn't going to be as long as my other book, He's Innocent. Also, I have a question: I have an idea for another book, but it isn't about anyone in Nanbaka. It's another lesser known show called Hazbin Hotel. Would any of you be interested in it? I'm kind of anxious about it as I've only posted books on Nanbaka. It's one of my favorite shows and I've been following it since it aired, so I have quite a few ideas. If you're interested, please let me know in the comments. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed and see you in the next chapter! So YEET.
