cracks were forming in her heart. poor snowtop, she thought to herself, letting her brother lean into her warmth. he had just lost his mate, flickerdaze, to the hard wilt and melt seasons that plagued the clan. so many of the cats they knew were ill or hungry, their bellies empty. the bleakness of it all hung like a storm cloud that threatened to break and wash away peakclan.
but there was still hope.
snowshine smiled softly as a trail of light blazed above their heads. "look, 'top, flickerdaze is safe now. she isn't hungry anymore." she pointed to the ebony sky streaked with blue and green. then, she placed the nicest feathers she could find by snowtop's paws. she had worked hard to find them, looking under rocks and in snowbanks.
"stay strong, brother."

snowshine has given snowtop pretty feathers! he may do with them what he wishes.
