Blade's Hidden Identity | Tagged

I was tagged by KhristynZoeBas to write a Zyibalt with a Man. ^^ Keep in mind Man is a platonic relationship, and Miles sees her more as a young sister then anything else, so he's okay with hugs and kisses on the forehead. It was a minor pairing here, but still.

Also this is a soulmate AU where you can feel what your soulmate both physically and emotionally feels. One oneshot out of two.
I'm not happy with my writing recently, as I'm shifting gears and trying to settle into a new writing style that occurs naturally but in bursts.

"Shit!" I cursed, a hand flying to my throat to massage the tender skin, but I could already feel some blood ooze out of the thin scratch.

"Your soulmate gets into a lot of fights," my companion, a girl a little younger by name who was known by the name of Ran, smiled widely. "Mine's all gloomy, but he doesn't get hurt much!"

"The only thing my soulmate does is get pissed," I muttered swiftly, examining the scar on the back of my hand I had received a couple of years back.

Ran cocked her head. She had already found her soulmate- a boy by the name of Miles Tucker, who deemed himself unbefitting of having a soulmate, but instead settled into a platonic relationship with her, which she was fine with.

On his hand, however, he didn't seem the happiest with the idea of having a soulmate.

"Well, that means he's fiery like you are, Cobalt, right?"

"That doesn't matter," I grumbled, staring at the ground, my eyes like drills piercing into the earth.

"Mhm~! Yes, it does! You wouldn't do good with someone who tried to be an ocean and soothe your fire, but someone who could match it!"

I rolled my eyes at her, flicking a wrist at the mark that was now across my neck, one of many marks that appeared all over my body. I was in constant pain, from bruises, broken skin, gashes, and scratches that littered my body just like my skin was a surface for decorations.

With a hand resting at the base of my throat, pressing down on the split skin to stop the rivulets of blood from streaking down my neck in thin lines, I could feel brittle irritation flooding through my nerves, fueled by pure rage and annoyance.

Ran patted my shoulder comfortingly, but the gesture was all but that, as I could still feel the harsh emotions bubbling up in my stomach.

Her attention was snatched away, and my eyes flicked upwards, taking notice of the blond teenager that was walking towards us.

"Ran, Cobalt," Miles greeted with a tilt of his head.

"Whatever," I grumbled, a hand still resting upon my neck.

Yet, Miles' keen eyes caught glimpse of the red hidden behind my fingers, and with a practiced hand, tugged my own away without me protesting.

"... I suppose that this is your soulmate's doing, not yours?" He asked at last, his head tilted to the side, a finger brushing over the cut.   Pain burst from my nerves as Miles pressed down on it, like a bird taking flight- fleeting, quick.

"I wouldn't do something so stupid," I snapped, and the blonde withdrew.

Ran wrapped an arm around his shoulder, head tucked into the spot between his collarbone and his chin.

"If you say so," he replied, a quirk of his lips restrained considerably (to which Ran frowned and poked at his cheek, puffing out her cheeks).

I scowled, hand flying to my neck once more as, smoothly sliding like a snake, blood made its' way down the skin. "My soulmate is so damn stupid, they get hurt almost every day."

Sweeping Ran's bang out of her eyes with one hand, Miles fixed his gaze on me. "... How do you go upon meeting them?"

"I don't," I huffed, the movement causing my own bangs to shift out of my eyes. "They're an idiot, get irritated way too easily-"

"You are too!" Ran chirped, her words chipper despite the actual statement.

I sent a glower in her direction, to which she only hummed against Miles' chest, blinking at me.

"Tch. Whatever," I said shortly, whipping around on my heel.

"Don't blow up," Miles called after me, and I responded with an certain upraised finger and strode away.

My feet slapped against the ground, and I was pretty sure my soulmate could also feel my own irritation, as it was a fire flowing through my veins and only showed through by my clenched fists and my set jaw.

"... before you bump into me, why don't you watch where the hell you're going?"

I stopped, lifting my eyes from the ground to the feet that stood on the ground a distance away, then upwards, seeing a silver-haired male with a scowl on his face.

"Why don't you just move out of the bloody way?" I responded, narrowing my eyes at him, a hand settling on my hip.

"Because it would be your fault if you bump into me," the teenager took a step closer, golden eyes also narrowed and a blade piercing into my soul.

"Then why don't you just avoid it?" I challenged, a defiant edge to my tone as I glared up at him. "And let me go back on my way?"

He side-stepped, head cocked. "Go on, little girl. Go back to your momma."

My foot flew out, hooking around his ankle and my knee jerking upwards. There was a pop, and the silver-haired teenager fell on the ground, his hands splayed in front of him.

Pain scraped across my palms as his own hands slid across the gravel, leaving blood and dead skin across the tips of the jagged pieces of some rocks.

Looking down, I could see my own skin torn up across my palm, the new skin red beneath. Blood welled up in the pores of the torn skin, close to bleeding out but held back by a thin membrane.

"Why you-!"

His hand had tightly wrapped around mine without me registering it, and I lashed out with another closed fist, feeling the satisfying feeling of my knuckles against the thin surface of skin and the bone beneath.

That was, it would be satisfying if red-hot pain didn't spark up from my jaw, causing me to snap my arm back and hold it to my jaw.

"Shit...!" The male snarled.

Wait, he never... hit me...

Releasing me, the other hand cradling his own jaw, he took a step back, hand slightly open for me to see the red mark running across his skin.

My mouth ran dry.

No... this asshole... he couldn't be...

It was then I took notice of the scar on the back of his hand, and the small cut in his neck, not bleeding, but visible.

"... shit," I swore, working my jaw. "You can't be..."

His eyes widened as I lifted my hand, exposing the very same scar upon my pallid skin.

"..."

".... well, let's not kill each other, even thought that seems like a very good option right now."

"... you know, Cobalt's soulmate is here," Miles said, rocking back and forth, his head swaying side to side.

Ran looked up at her own soulmate, then rested her head against his shoulder once more. "Oh, really?"

"... he does seem rather... prickly."

"Just like you were when I first met you," Ran pointed out.

Miles sighed, tilting his head to face her. "I suppose. But I'm still glad you stayed by my side."
