Varun's Pov

"Good morning"I woke her up with a coffee mug in my hand.She rubbed her eyes and looked at me a bit surprisingly.

"Coffee!"I gave it to her smiling a bit.She looked around titled her head to have a glance at the wall clock.

"Oh my god!Its 8-30"She almost screamed jumped out of the bed sipping my coffee a bit.

"I need to go to office by 9"She stuttered something,grabbing a towel and her dress from wardrobe.

"Calm down!Preeti,Relax"I pinched her cheeks.

"What?!"she still looking at me with half opened eyes in shock.

"It's Sunday,You can sleep for a while"I chuckled.

"Oh god!"She covered her face with duvet and chuckling inside,I can hear her chuckles.

I prepared breakfast and waiting for her in the hall.

She came after half an hour finishing all her morning chores.

"You prepared breakfast for us?"She smiled dragging the chair.

"Yes!"I smiled.

We eat breakfast calmly and rushed to car.We are going to meet Arpitha's Parents.I don't know whether she can handle this news?

I stopped my car infront of their house,She looked at me with a pale face.

"Don't worry"I sighed and patted her back slowly.

"Is she alive?"She surprised me with her words?

"No!"I nodded and looked away.

"Oh my god"She is crying.

"How do you know?"I asked her.

"Why would we meet her parents instead her if she is sound and safe?"She looked at me wiping her tears.

"How did it happen?"She asked after a second trying to calm herself.

"She died in an accident"I sighed and told her the truth.

"Accident?!But how?!"She looked at me with a wan smile.

"Hit and run."I sighed.

"What?"She is breathing heavily trying to control her sobs.

"Yes!But I am suspecting Rajesh.Rajesh is the one behind everything"I lowered my head escaping her gaze,I can't see her like that.

"I can't!"She stepped down and started to walk away.

"You need to do that for them,her parents.They will fell happy to see you"I caught her hand.

"Are you sure?"She asked me holding my hands.

"Yes!"I kissed her cheek and nodded.

"I can't do this!"She shook her head twice and stepped back.

"Please"I begged her cupping her cheeks.

"Varun"Arpitha's mom came and greeted me.

"Good morning Aunty!"I greeted her and she came and hugged me with motherly affection.

"Good morning Beta!"She placed a peck on my forehead.

"Good morning Aunty!"Preeti greeted her.

She looked at me and preeti one after other.

"Aunty,She is Preeti!Arpitha's friend"I said slowly trying to smile a bit.

"Arpitha's friend"She came to her and placed her palm on Preeti's cheek.

"Yes Aunty!"She nodded.

"Come in!"She caught her hand and took Preeti with her.I followed them.

We talked about different things.She was so gloomy all the time, She tried her best to smile.I am sorry for her,She lost her friend.

"I am so sorry"I mumbled at her.

"Thank you,You gave me her memories,With out you it's impossible for me to fetch them"She smiled a bit.

"She told us about you several times"Aunty came to Preeti,sat beside her kissing her forehead.

"Really?"She asked her very softly.

"Yes!She told us several things about you,She told us that you helped her and even you paid her college fees"She is crying,Preeti just hugged her.

"I am like your daughter aunty,I love you so much,I always treated her like a sister.Never feel alone,never feel that you lost your child.I am here for you.I know it's impossible for me to replace her place but I can keep her memories alive all the time"Preeti said wiping her tears on her cheek affectionately.

"Thank you so much!"Aunty hugger her again.

"Just gave me a call when ever you want to see your daughter"Preeti smiled and gave them her number.

"That's so sweet of you!"She smiled.

"We have hearing tomorrow"Though I hate to say this as I don't want to spoil their happiness but I am helpless.

"Oh my god!"Uncle sighed sadly.

"Don't worry uncle,Everything will be fine"I gave a fake smile trying to assure him that nothing would happen like last time.

"Hope everything will go smooth this time"Aunty looked at me with a worried expression.

"Don't worry Aunty,Please belive me I will take care of everything"I caught her hands and patted them gently.

"We will!"She kissed my forehead and smiled.

"We need to go!"I smiled at her poking Preeti's elbow.

"Shall we go!"I asked her and she nodded.

"God bless you both!"Aunty waved at us smiling.

We left them with heavy hearts.

"I can't see them like that they are too old to bear all this.I am feeling bad for them"She looked at me getting into the car.

"Really,It's hard to see them brooding over her death all the time,They don't deserve this pain at this age,They are dying everyday,only thing which can give them some solace,peace is justice."I looked

"Yes,He has to be punished,He just wiped their happiness in a second,She loved him but what did he do in return"She said gritting her teeth.

"Hey!Come out"Some one knocked on the mirror.

"Who are you?"I looked into his eyes,a person who is standing in front of my car as we halted before a bakery to have something.

"Who are you?"I shouted at him.

"Ask me,I will tell you who are they?"I saw him again.

"Oh Mr.Rajesh Mehra"I smiled at him sarcastically.

"Busy in gathering witnesses against me!Great"He laughed loudly at me.

"No!I am not"I nodded.

"I am watching your every movement Mr.ACP"He smiled again.

"I am the one who has to watch you,your every damn sick movement,So don't worry I am doing my job very perfectly"I said gritting my teeth.

"Just shut up!"He shouted.

"I will kill you B****** if you say a word more"I placed my gun on his temple.

"You can't do this to me"He is begging me in the very next second.

"Just stay there Preeti"I shouted at her who is about to get down from car.

She yanked and looked at me frantically.

"So!What do you want me to do now?"I smiled at him sarcastically.

"Please leave me,I will offer you something which you wouldn't have seen and imangined in your life time"He said stuttering.

"Oh really?I will give you a bullet in return,"I smiled.

"Please leave me!"He is begging me all the time.

"Why did you kill her?"I asked him look into his eyes.

"Because she abandoned me"He said gritting his teeth in anger.

"What the f**** you are saying?"I slapped him with my hand wirh which I am holding a gun,He is bleeding,no worry! he is worthy of it.

"Yes,She rejected me"He gave an eccentric smile.

"How could you kill a girl who was deeply in love with you just like that?"I shouted at him.

"Ha ha ha!"He laughed like a psycho,I am sure he is having some problem indeed.

"Do you know what is meant by love?People like you are exploiting girls in the name of love,She came to you leaving her very own world behind just because she loves you.It doesn't mean that you are allowed to do anything with her. And you killed an innocent girl just because she didn't allow you to sleep with her?How cheap?People like you are spoiling the essence of love.How could you stoop to such a level?"I couldn't resist my urge to hit his face.I punched his face again.

"I will see your end,count your days"I warned him and threw him there on the road.

"Oh my god!"I saw Preeti literally shivering.

"It's okay,I am fine!"I smiled at her caressing her hair.She hugged me tightly.

"I hate your profession,It's risky"She muttered something under her breathe.

"I am fine,I can assure you nothing would happen to me,I will be sound and safe to annoy you and embarrass you"I smirked at her.

"You haven't changed"She punched my shoulder.

"Why would I?Instead I am proud of myself"I looked at her seriously.

"Still I am not convinced"She nodded and looked away.

We didn't speak to each other for a while.

"Get down"I bring her back to her flat.

"It doesn't mean I hate you but I am worried about you all the time"Her words surprised me definitely.

We reached her flat mean while,She continued her words.

"I love you Varun,I love you a lot.I want to have a peaceful life with you like any other girl.I can't take this pain anymore.I can't stay worried all the time thinking about your safety.I want to die before you peacefully in your arms but not this way?"She is crying.

"I can't leave this profession Preeti,It's final.I haven't forced you to stay with me,You are free and I will be happy with your choice.I left mandap just because of those words delivered from your mouth,What did you say to your brother?You would ask me to choose between you and my profession once we get married?How sane?!Don't you know what would I do then?!I would have probably killed myself.I dreamt about becoming a Police and holding those stars on shoulders from the days of my childhood.What I can say you is that I love you,I will be glad if you accept me as what I am,If not let us...."I stopped and looked at her.

"Oh my god!"She slumped there on the floor weeping all the time.

"Sir!"We heard a constable standing there at the entrance.

"What's the thing?"I gestured him to come in.

"Someone attacked Arpitha's Parents and her father's position is very critical"He said with a pale face.

"B*******"I banged the door out of frustration.

"What?Why are you looking at me like that?What were you all doing at that time?I sent two of you to them?How could you be such irresponsible?"I shouted at him.

"They stabbed one of our constables sir!"He mumbled lowering his head a bit.

"I won't leave that B*******"I can't control my anger.

"Varun!"Preeti came to me and clasped my hand.

"You may go now"I asked him to leave as I want some space,my own space.

"Varun"Preeti is about to hug me but I stopped her.

"This is not going to work"I said a bit harshly

"What?"She looked at with teary eyes.

"We aren't made for each other"I almost whispered.

"Why did you come into my life again after two years damn you?Did I ask you?You are the one who chased me,You are the one who tried to convince me"She clamped my collar and asked looking into my eyes.

"I am sorry but it's impossible for me to leave my profession,I feel that I have born for those stars and I am lame person who can't fulfill your simple wishes even,I don't deserve you,I am sorry for everything,Will you ever forgive me"I whispered.

"Get the hell with your profession,I don't care anymore,I can't live a lie.I am ready to bear the risk because our love is precious,because you are precious,I love you,I can't hide this anymore"She said looking into my eyes.

I can't say anything,I stood there like a rock.I didn't expect these words from her.She told me that it doesn't matter to her,My love and respect doubled for her.

"I love you"I whispered.

"I love you too"She hugged back.

We kissed passionately and that was a lingering sweet kiss which melted our hearts....
