Chapter 1

RINGGG! RINGGG!!

I wake up to hear my phone ringing continuously. I look at my alarm clock to find out it is barely 7am. Who could be ringing me so early?

I sigh, rub my tired eyes and carelessly grab my phone and pick up the call.

"KIERA! KIERA!" Yells my friend Lily through the phone.

"Huh...what?" I mumble, my eyes starting to get used to the slight light in my room.

"KIERA BISHOP! HAVE YOU READ THE NEWS?!" She yells once again.

"It's 7am, stupid, you woke me."

"Oh yeah, sorry about that." She chuckles apologetically.

The thing about my dear friend Lily, is that she can get overexcited easily. When talking to her in person, you'll see her brown eyes widen, her cheeks become pinker and her blonde ponytail start to sway.

"Point is...you know CSPP?" She asks.

"Obviously, Children's Supportive Power Plant. What about them?"

"It's been 150 years since it was first founded!"

"That's what you called me about at 7am?" I say threateningly.

"Hell no! It put a full timeline of the CSPP too. Back when it was 1930, the year it was founded, there were suspicions that the CSPP was hiding something from the public. A huge group of people proclaimed that they murdered children, not support them. There were huge protest, after the biggest and seemingly most effective protest hit..."

"They disappeared." I finished off. "Every person who was there disappeared, the claims against the CSPP were never found true and were forgotten." Lily says nothing back, she seemed to be a bit surprised. I laugh, "I like to research history, remember?"

"Oh yeah." She replies. "Anyways, see you later." With that she hangs up the call.

I sigh, and pull myself out of bed. I go to my somewhat large wardrobe, not going to lie though, it is pretty big. The doors to enter are white, embroidered with golden swirls. As soon as you enter, you are surrounded by clothes, shoes and make up. I have a small make-up desk over at the far corner. Other than that, there are clothes and at least one mirror on every side of the wall.

My parents...are kind of rich. They work a lot, not like I care. I learnt they wouldn't be around much when I was like 3. I spend most of my time now doing homework, chatting with friends and bingeing social media or Netflix.

Now in wardrobe, I look at myself in one of my mirrors. My parents had it designed so that each mirror reflected of another mirror on the opposite side of the room, making it so we could see our backs.

My brown hair is a mess, it look likes a bird nest. If my mum saw it, she would go crazy. Thankfully, she doesn't have the time to. My skin is breaking and my nails are scratched. My mum would insist upon nail polish and make-up to hide it, but I'm different. I'm not like my stupid rich parents.

I quickly grab a pair of jeans, and a t-shirt with stripes. It doesn't seem to fit, so I then catch my eye on pastel purple crop top, which comes tightly at the middle of  my stomach. Perfect. I put on a black hoodie with it. My jeans make me look skinny, good, my parents would like it. Uhm, I mean, it's good for me, with the mean girls and all.

I quickly comb my hair and tie it back with a black hair tie. I'm finally ready.

I run down the long marble staircase and across the long, also marble hall. What is with my parents and marble??

I make myself some cereal with milk and quickly eat. I can't be late, wait, it's still 7:30. I slow down the speed at which I am devouring my breakfast.

At 8, I grab my bag, and pack in some snack and lunch money, an apple will do fine. Then I grab my phone, wallet and head towards the bus stop nearby.

The bus only arrives at 8:10, so I wait impatiently. It's a lot colder than expected. I shiver slightly, and pull my phone out from boredom. I decided to look on TikTok, see what my friends are up to. Nothing new from them, I sigh.

Eventually, the bus arrives, I get on and see my friend, Lily, waving her hand at me. I smile, and take the seat next to her.

"There's been a huge news update!" She says excitedly.

"Already?! It's been what?! An hour, since you updated me!" I exclaimed surprised.

"It went live!" She yells. Everyone turns to stare at us, annoyed. I don't blame them, Lily is literally squealing. "Look!" She pulls out her phone and shows me a video of people marching together. Even though I've only looked for a short while, I know what it is.

"A protest?!" I ask.

She nods. That's strange, the last protest was over 100 years ago. Unless...
