Chapter 11 - Leaving Home
Yurei left the Hokage's mansion, walking slowly.
Questioning? If they found out who she really was, she'd be sent back to live with her mother who would ban her from ever being a ninja, and would probably ground her for life forcing her to work in the restaurant every day.
She shivered at that though, she'd spent one day as a ninja and already she really enjoyed it, it was exciting but scary at the same time.
She didn't want to give up something that she enjoyed but only just got a taste of.
She sped up, walking faster through the darkening streets. A lot of people still wandered around, browsing shops and chatting animatedly. They all looked so happy. Two young children ran in front of Yurei, almost making her fall. This is why she liked to stick to the alley ways an roofs of buildings, hardly any other people traveled through those routes.
Yurei's mind wondered, Kakashi-sensei had said something about a clan, Himitu? Himtu? Ah, Himitsu. A clan that had invisible chakra, even to sensory ninja. Yurei wasn't really sure what sensory ninja did, did they see the chakra? Smell it? Sense it?
If she was right, that her father was from the Himitsu clan, would that be where he was now? Could she find him? The idea of meeting her father made her stomach flutter.
If she stayed here, she wouldn't be able to learn how to be a proper ninja, but... If she left, she might be able to find her father and learn what she wanted, and maybe her father was a ninja and would love to teach her himself! The ideas were hopeful fantasies that clouded Yurei's logical vision, it was decided, she'd pack a bag and leave right now.
She darted into the closest alley and took the fastest route, over walls and balconies to get to her small flat where she threw open the door and grabbed a back pack from a cupboard. She filled it with various foods that she thought would last and not spoil. Next she left the apartment and peered through her neighbour's window. Nobody was home so she climbed through it, luckily it was left open. She went to the kitchen table where a small tan coloured bag lay, recognising it from where her team mates had pulled knives from, she tentatively opened the bag and pulled out one of the deadly looking sharp knives.
Holding the hilt gently, she slid the knife into her backpack. She had no idea who lived here but she liked that they had taken an interest in the world and had a large map hung on one wall. She climbed onto a chair and pulled down the map quickly, then folded it and placed it in her bag. Maybe that would be useful, asuming she found out where the Himitsu clan actually lived.
She silently slid out of the open window and jumped from the balcony walkway, the next building wasn't too far so her fingers latched onto the tiles tightly and she pulled herself up. Crouching on the roof she looked around her to see if there was anyone nearby, a few people in the street below but they were all focussed on whatever they were doing.
Yurei stood up and pulled off her shoes, adding them to her backpack, she set off running silently with bare feet. Shoes would only make her footsteps noisy and it was easier to run without.
It didn't take long for her to reach Konoha's gates where the two guards, Kotetsu and Izumo sat inside their gate house. Both looked tired and seemed to be falling asleep once again. Yurei pondered on how to get out without being spotted, she could maybe distract them... that decided she made a hand sign, creating a clone who swiftly climbed down into the street and walked up to Izumo and Kotetsu. The clone said something and pointed at a house behind the gate house. Kotetsu shook Izumo and they both peered out and around to try to see what the clone was pointing at.
Yurei sprinted through the gate while releasing the clone jutsu. Once in the safety of the trees Yurei ran as fast as she could, her legs moving, one after the other. Left, right, left, right, left, right... but much faster. She was quite fast for someone her age which was to her advantage at that moment. She ran for what seemed like hours but was really only minutes, her breathing was ragged and short and her legs were aching, she dropped to her knees and sat back, taking deep breaths.
Taking off her backpack she placed it infront of her and pulled out the map. It showed a large green messy sploge surrounded by blue. She quickly located the area of green that had the leaf village symbol she had seen before. She read each name of the different countries then the cities, working slowly with her limited reading skills. All sounded vaguely familiar, she'd never learnt about them properly but recognised a few of the names. For example, The land of wind where her brother lived. She forced that thought away and focused on the map again.
One country she'd never heard of before was The land of earth where the city, Iwagakure was positioned faily close to the boarder. What would the land of earth be like? The land of lightning seemed too far to go to and she didn't fancy going to the land of wind on the chance that her brother was there. The land of earth seemed like the other larger city, it had a lot of land and looked about the same distance as the land of wind. She could travel through the hidden waterfall village and be there in roughly six days, five if she traveled quick.
She ate a small snack before jumping up and starting to run again.
