Chapter 2
"Okay. I'll find him."
Tsuna walked home after the kendo match. He remembered the silver-haired teen he saw as he walked out the door. He had an idea of who it was. He may possibly be Gokudera Hayato, or, Smoking Bomb Hayato. 'I wonder if that's him.' He'd have to do the research.
Tsuna walked into his house and went to his room to be greeted by a certain fedora-wearing baby. He also noticed his computer light blinking. This could be bad.
"Tsuna. Have you heard of Degli 27?" Reborn asked.
The dreaded question had been asked. But how to answer? If Tsuna were to answer a simple 'yes' in a nod, it would be known that he knew Italian, and was smarter than he looked. He needed the no-good mask. In response to the question asked, he shook his head "no".
"Then how about Hakka 27?" The baby asked again.
This just kept getting harder. At least he could answer yes this time. He nodded his head.
"What do you know about him?"
Tsuna put up a finger to signalize a "one moment please." He got a notepad from somewhere in his room and began writing.
I know only the things a regular citizen would know. But I guess I can't be a regular citizen while knowing about my brother's involvement in the Mafia. Why do you ask? He didn't say anything about his father being the external adviser, that would show that he knew too much.
Reborn thought for a moment before saying anything. "Oh, no reason. I just wondered if you knew anything. Between you and me, I have a mission to catch the guy, so be on the lookout."
Tsuna's eyes widen in shock. This was worse than he could have imagined. A mafioso, living in his house, that has a mission to capture him? It couldn't be good at all. Also, was that some sort of weird attempt to be friendly? And he thought this day couldn't get weirder.
Reborn smirked and left, being just the tiniest bit suspicious that Tsuna was hiding something. It couldn't be that big of a secret, though. After all, he was no good, right?
After closing the door, Tsuna went over to the computer. He knew Reborn was suspecting something. What, he had no idea. Just as long as he stayed hidden in plain sight. It was the best place to hide.
He logged on. The light stopped blinking. He again checked the page of failed contacts to close out of them. Suddenly, a pop-up appeared. It was a message saying, FIREWALL HAS BEEN BREACHED.
But that wasn't possible! That firewall was foolproof! Right after, he got another message, this one from a person. He checked the name, but all it said was UNKNOWN SERVER.
The message from the unknown server read: Hohoho, I found you, Hakka! You'll never hide from me!
Who was this from? For the first time, Tsuna typed a message to someone else.
Who is this?
Unknown: Oh, Hakka 27. So naive. You're not the only hacker there is. I'm also one of the top three. Every other hacker is, too. You're not a hacker if you get caught. If you were a true master, no one would know about you. Therefore, there is no real way to rank hackers.
Who ARE you?
Unknown: Oh, I think you know. You must know. Or maybe, you could figure it out. Yet another possibility is that I am simply too elusive.
I don't have time for this!
Unknown: But you do. You see, I know who you are. I know where you live. I could kill you at this moment.
Lies.
Unknown: I think not. I am obviously much better than you in every way possible. I am a skilled hitman as well as a hacker. I am too much for you to handle, Sawada Tsunayoshi. Until next time~
Tsuna didn't even bother to respond. He was getting another message. This one, however, was from the Vongola.
Vongola: Consider us as allies.
A simple message, really. Was he still going to have to worry about the Vongola? If he did end up making an alliance with the famiglia, there was always the possibility that he would be turned in, or the alternative: They would kill him themselves. They didn't have a reason not to. He already knew all their secrets. Nothing about the Vongola would surprise him anymore (Aside from the fact that his brother would be a candidate for the next boss, or Vongola Decimo).
He logged off his computer and got ready to be ridiculed in tomorrow's Volleyball Tournament.
.....
In an unknown place, sat a boy, somewhere in his teens, in all gray clothing. He sat in the shadows of the dark room, where nobody could see him. A laptop sat open on the floor in front of him.
"How am I going to do this?" He said to no one, for no one else was in the room. He sighed.
He stood up and walked out of the room, leaving the laptop still open. The screen displayed notes between him and the famous hacker.
Until next time~
.....
The Vongola Nono sat in his office, feeling very pleased with himself. He managed to get a message through to Degli 27. He never did get an answer, presumably because the hacker knew they could find him with tracers. A smart move, in Nono's mind.
Before he could send another message, to formally ask him to join the famiglia, the firewall's were back up. He sighed. More work to search for him.
.....
It was the day after after the volleyball tournament, which had turned out okay. Tsuna's team won, with no help from Tsuna. He was no-good, why would he be called in to help?
While everyone was leaving, he again saw the silver haired bomber, now known to him as Gokudera Hayato (through his extensive research. He could probably tell you someone's whole life story, if he wanted to).
Said bomber glared at Takeo, paying no attention to Tsuna whatsoever. He then left.
Back in the present, Nezu-sensei had an announcement. "Class, we have a new transfer student who was studying overseas in Italy. Gokudera Hayato." More confirmation. But he knew he wasn't wrong. He was never wrong. Not in the recent past, at least.
Gokudera, now known to the class, simply walked over to Takeo's desk. Sensei protested, but Gokudera didn't listen. He kicked Takeo's desk over, along with the boy himself. This escapade caused a squeal as a reaction from the girls in the class. Murmurs were heard from the girls:
"It's numbing, not scary."
"Looks like we've decided on forming a fan-club."
Tsuna sighed, it had nothing to do with him anyway. The addition to the class sent a glare to Tsuna, who ignored it.
.....
Before he knew it, class was over. The bell signalizing they could go home rang. As emotionless as ever, Tsuna walked out the door of the class room. He could feel the bomber's eyes trailing behind him.
He walked out of the school building and was assaulted by upperclassmen. Keeping his no good act, he trembled with false fear. That is, until Gokudera showed up. He was not amazed.
"Tch. So weak."
The upperclassmen run off; Gokudera effectively scared them away with his presence.
Gokudera started walking towards the young hacker, who was still "trembling" in fear.
THUD.
Gokudera stopped in his tracks when he heard/saw something big land in front of him. It seemed as if Takeo was thrown out of one of the windows on the upper level of the school (somehow he can say this with confidence and it's normal. What is wrong with the world?).
Reborn landed on top of the heap that was Takeo.
"Vongola Decimo. I've come to kill you and claim my place as tenth! Reborn, does the offer still stand?" Gokudera asked.
"Yes."
"Good. Die now!" With that, he threw dynamite at Takeo that he lit with a cigarette. Tsuna sat to the side and watched with Reborn as his brother and Gokudera fought.
As it goes, Gokudera went a little heavy on the dynamite, putting himself in danger. Takeo, being the unforgiving person he is, left everyone else there to die.
Tsuna hurriedly stood up from where he was sitting and ran towards the bomber. He grabbed Gokudera's arm, effectively pulling him away from the near-exploding bombs. They ran to the gates of the school when the bombs went off. Uh-oh. Hibari is going to be so mad.
Tsuna turned from looking at the explosion to find Gokudera bowing to him. He couldn't protest or anything, so he stood there like an idiot.
When Gokudera got up, he apologized profusely. "You must be Juudaime!" he yelled.
In response, Tsuna shook his head. He pulled out a little notepad he just so happened to have for a time like this, and wrote the following: No, that would be my younger brother, Takeo. Sorry about him, he's not very forgiving, or helpful for that matter.
Gokudera looked back at Tsuna, shocked. That was definitely not the type of boss he would want to devote himself to; the Vongola needed a kind and caring boss that would be able to get the job of defeating enemies and doing paperwork done, a person very much like the boy in front of him. What the Vongola didn't need was a boss that would leave his allies to die, like Takeo had.
"You have to take his place! Vongola can't have a boss like him!" Gokudera pleaded.
No, Reborn would throw a fit if that were to happen. Besides, I'm just an idiot. Tsuna wrote back, a pained look on his face.
It was then that Gokudera felt sorry for the boy. It seemed as if he had no confidence in himself whatsoever (which was quite wrong, but he didn't need to know that). Gokudera said, "Then let me be your subordinate. I'll help you get the job of Juudaime!"
You can't. The only way to help me is to go along with Nono's plan to make Takeo the boss. Tsuna couldn't believe he just wrote that. Sure, he knew that in order to be anonymous, his brother had to be boss, but that didn't mean he was all for it!
"If it's your orders, then I'll go undercover for you!" Gokudera replied. It would seem that he is very stubborn. Tsuna sighed. He'll let the bomber have his way...
For now.
.....
Tsuna walked through the front door of his house to find a certain Spartan baby beating up Takeo. He stopped and watched for a minute before heading to his room.
He entered, first noticing that his computer light was blinking. He logged on, and saw that the firewalls were down again. The 'Unknown Server' was contacting him again.
Unknown: Oh, Hakka!
What?
Unknown: I found you!
I thought you already knew where I was.
Unknown: Well, I was clearly lying. Now, have you any leads as to my identity?
No. I'm not even going to bother.
Unknown: But, if you don't bother, how will you know who your killer is? How will you know who the one who took a gun and shot you through the heart is? How will you know who your redemption is?
What the heck are you talking about? I don't need redemption.
Unknown: I will be your redemption, so you'd better know my name~
Tsuna had no idea how to reply to that. He knew that he didn't need any redemption, so what was this man blabbering on about? Soon, maybe he'd know.
.....
The man in gray frowned at his laptop. Why was he doing this again? To save the future? Did his future self really have to contact him to do this?
Yes, maybe he went a bit far with the "make yourself seem worse" thing. It's not like he'd actually kill the guy. Maybe if he played his cards wrong, he'd indirectly cause his death, but he'd be careful. Probably.
.....
It was two days later that something big happened: Tsuna's brother had given the baseball star advice. "You are of no use to anyone if you can't play baseball. Work harder."
Thus, the captain had taken the advice, truly believing that he was nothing without being able to play the sport. The result: A broken arm.
Now, as Tsuna walks behind his brother to the school's doors, he heard the whispers.
"Yamamoto's gonna jump!"
"What?! No, why would he do that?!"
"He broke his arm! He said something about the baseball gods forsaking him!" Tsuna didn't know what was worse: that he was gonna kill himself or that he believed in baseball gods.
"That's terrible!"
Tsuna looked at his brother, who had no shame at all. Takeo said, "What are you looking at me for, Dame-Tsuna? I told him to work harder, not hurt himself."
Takeo was clearly not going to do a thing about the crisis. He would have to fix this himself, but how? He wouldn't be able to speak. That would ruin all chances of him ever going undercover. The idea of a phone call would do the same; then people would know that Hakka 27 was in Namimori. Should he have a classmate deliver a message? Or maybe he could force his brother into doing something about it.
No, he knew what to do. He looked around, Reborn had to be somewhere around here. There was an unusual looking plant in the shrubbery. Reborn must be there.
The baby popped out of hiding once he saw he had been found.
Tsuna took out his notepad and wrote a message: Can you force Takeo into saving Yamamoto-kun?
Reborn shook his head. "I won't do anything. If he doesn't make this choice on his own, then he can never be the perfect boss."
Yamamoto-kun is going to die!
"I'm sorry."
Tsuna sighed. He then went to the roof and walked to the edge. He pushed through the throng of people that were trying to convince Yamamoto to not jump. He tapped the baseball star on the shoulder.
"If you're trying to tell me to not jump, it won't work."
Hearing no response, Yamamoto turned to see a notepad. I'm not trying to tell you not to. I'm telling you that people will miss you. Look around. Your friends don't want you to die.
"They aren't friends! I never did have friends! I only had people who used me for popularity!" Yamamoto yelled.
Then live for your family.
Yamamoto's eyes widened. He looked down, then back at Tsuna. "Sorry. I'm so sorry." He whispered. He climbed back over the fence. He had been saved.
.....
"No-Good Tsuna, huh? Doesn't look very 'no-good' to me." A certain baby said to no one. The boy in question had just saved the person who was supposed to be the Vongola's tenth generation's Rain Guardian! "Yamamoto Takeshi. Now how will get into the family? Takeo is too stubborn and selfish to even consider anyone. This needs to change, and fast."
Reborn suddenly got a call. "Ciaossu."
"Reborn. Any leads?"
"No. There's nothing. Degli 27 leaves no clues, besides the fact that he's been there. It's almost as if he doesn't want us to find him, but also while saying, 'Come and find me!'."
"Okay. We will try contacting him again. The last message got through, and with luck, the firewalls will be down again. Maybe you should try too."
"Hai, Nono."
