Chapter 16
He was already meaning to go to the future. You'll see why. And yes, this does mean that it is officially the future arc. [In this chapter, you will see the best side of Tsuna's personality: the sarcastic asshole side. Because what truly smart person isn't an ass most of the time? By the way, if you couldn't tell, uncensored cussing :/] Also the canon plot line is about to go to hell.
"Uh... No?" He looked desperately for a way out of the situation, finding one possible way to go. He took off in a sprint (he had thankfully regained some of his energy for this endeavor) and skidded to a halt beside an unconscious cow child. He stuck his hand into the somehow endless mass of curly black hair to find what he was looking for: the Ten Year Bazooka. Without further ado, he shot himself ten year into the unknown future in a measly attempt to escape the Vindice.
He was not prepared for what he saw when the pink smoke cleared.
One thing about the future was this: it was very... green. This could be pertaining to the fact that he found himself in the woods that housed the Namimori Shrine.
Another thing was that he woke up in a coffin, which didn't do much to boost his morale.
Upon opening the lid (still not the best situation to be in), he was met with the face of who he considered to actually be his right hand man.
"Gokudera?" Tsuna asked. But this one looked older.
"Ts-Tsuna," The now confirmed older Gokudera said. "You're alive."
"Shh, not alive, just younger, " he said, earning an incredulous stare. "Ten year Bazooka," he decided to add. "Help me out of here, would'ya?"
Gokudera huffed, letting out a breath he didn't realize he was holding. As he reached out to help up his now small boss, he muttered. "I almost forgot how much of an ass you can be."
Tsuna, who just so happened to hear him, looked him dead in the eyes and said, "Thank you." This earned a small laugh. "So. What killed me?"
"You weren't dead. Shoichi Irie had 'killed' you about a month ago, but it was actually a plan to put you in a suspended animation. His boss found out about it, and he's been with us ever since."
"Shoichi Irie, huh?" Tsuna asked. "Before I came here, I was contacted by the younger version of Irie. He said something about trouble in the future. I found that coming to the future was a good way to kill two birds with one stone. Wait, why would he 'kill' me?"
Gokudera looked at Tsuna strangely, but ignored the question. "So you were informed of the situation beforehand? How did you know he wasn't lying?
Tsuna shook his head. "Hayato, please. He wouldn't have been able to talk to me without his future self telling him how," he said arrogantly. "Anyway, I was not told of the actual situation, just that something was wrong. Mind telling me?"
"Takeo became Vongola Decimo..." He started.
"Say no more. I can see the problem already."
"That isn't all. He joined another family called the Millefiore. That's when the rest of the guardians and I revolted," Gokudera explained.
Tsuna lifted an eyebrow. The nerve of his brother, practically giving away the most powerful mafia famiglia in existence! "So he signed over the Vongola to this Millefiore Don-guy, who now holds what is essentially the strongest alliance the world has ever seen in his hands, and I was actually called here to fix it," he said it as a confirming statement.
The future Gokudera nodded in reply.
"Great," he muttered. "Well, as much as I didn't want to join any alliance, I can't say I'm opposed to saving the world. Let's do this."
At this, Gokudera's eyes pretty much lit up. "Thank you, Tsuna. We can't thank you enough."
.....
Reborn stared blankly at the spot where Degli had been. He wasn't the only one who did so. In fact, if he were to look slightly to the left, he would see a disgruntled storm guardian that had half a mind to jump in the bazooka with the hacker.
The only ones who didn't actually seem bothered by this was the attempted captors of Degli themselves, which to Reborn seemed ass-backwards.
Nevertheless, he was at the very least concerned for his wellbeing. Or was he more concerned about Gokudera? (Calm down, stupid storm.) He couldn't tell anymore.
As it turned out, he only had to stand in place. The rings ended up being relinquished to the 'rightful' heir - Reborn still had doubts - and everything would go back to normal. Well, as normal as being a hitman in the Mafia could ever be. And with new accessories!
The Vindice were convinced a while later to NOT follow anyone home, the reason they would want to was completely unfathomable anyway. Either way, they walked home without thinking too much on it (they had dropped Lambo off at the hospital), though Gokudera was still a bit antsy.
Upon arrival at the twins' house, they were met by Nana, who had just returned from a visit with Lambo. (Imagine her surprise when he wasn't there. She was worried sick!)
Her first words to them? "Was Tsuna with you?"
.....
The walk to the current non-affiliated Vongola base was short and sweet. Also surprisingly quiet, considering the ever so loyal storm guardian just had a reunion with his pretty much best friend that had recently 'passed'. The only sounds were the rustling of the leaves as wind swished through the thinner parts of the forest.
This bothered Tsuna. Gokudera was never known to be quiet. It was weird. He ignored it.
The base was different than he expected. It was nothing like the regular Vongola base (he'd seen pictures of it, and it was probably more advanced by now); this was small. It literally looked much like a small barn just kind of planted smack-dab in the middle of the woods. There was no evidence of it ever not being there; vines grew up the walls, and weeds at the base, but if there was one thing Tsuna knew, it was that looks could be VERY deceiving (i.e. Reborn. He's a baby. Figuratively. He'll kick the crap out of you, though). The walls were an earthy brown color.
The two entered the wide doors.
Inside it was dark. Not so dark that you couldn't see, but dark. Because it wasn't conspicuous enough.
There in the middle of the room was a staircase. They went down. Like normal people would. (He took a minute to remind himself that normal people would not go down these stairs because they were in a creepy, dark barn in the middle of the woods.)
At the bottom of these stairs was long - surprise, surprise - dark hallway that led to a door. Gokudera pressed a button, supposedly on an intercom system. An unfamiliar voice rang out. "Who's there?"
Gokudera closed his eyes and sighed. "Do you really have to ask every time, you idiot? There's a camera right there." He points to a camera hidden in the corner by the ceiling.
A brief pause. And a sigh. "Let me have some fun once in a while. Geez."
The door opened.
"Who was that?" Tsuna asked as they begin walking.
"That was our recent ally."
"Oh?"
"You may know him better as Grigio."
"You better have a damn good explanation for this."
"I know."
Hah. I spent a lot of time deliberating over what should actually happen right now. This feels like a short filler chapter, kinda. Sorry. I have decided to mass edit, so watch out. Also maybe a bit of rewriting. I don't know, by the time I'm completely done with this story, it'll kinda be different than how it started. Rereading might be a wise choice... Especially since we'll know who Grigio is soon. He's not an OC. I repeat, not an OC. Have fun.
